Sparkly nail salon culture, the low-life Floridian crime world and the close camaraderie of female friends is a winning combination for Claws, a series that favors true situation comedy and stylistic flair above trashy girl and bling clichés.
Great series, blood, crime, money, empowerment. Gotta love it. I admit first watching the previews for the show before it began i did not expect it to be as good as it is. I thought it would be centered around Karrueche and I was not here for that. I'm glad to know its much more than that and very very interesting!
Didn't like most of episode 1, the end kept me watching into episode 2 and by episode 3 I'm hooked.
The initially annoying leads have settled in nicely and the story is developing in unexpected ways.
There's a villain to hate and people to root for. So far, I'm glad I stuck with it.
There’s a twist at the end of the third episode, the last one made available to critics, that, along with the fine performances and the welcome focus on female solidarity, will keep me coming back to this series, at least for a few more episodes. The polish on Claws has some noticeable chips in it. But I don’t want to remove it, not just yet.
I liked Claws’s sun-baked Florida setting, and the way the cameras capture the difference between the inside warmth of the nail salon versus the harsh ugliness of store-front life outside. And Nash is really excellent, rendering Desna in all her tough, vulnerable, shrewd complexity. The writing of the show needs to become as complex as that character.
Claws experience lack in humor department and take itself too seriously while being completely unbelievable. I gave it a fair time to grow on me over the course of 4 episodes, but characters are just not likable and the story not believable or entertaining to keep on coming back.
Wish they would go completely over the top and added dark comedy elements. True Blood it.
Obviously the critics seems to like it more than the watching audience. It's very overrated and Neicy Nash should have stuck to her revamping house show. She is boring-it's all about her "New" body and nothing about the script. Sorry just can't watch it anymore.
It was overzealous with sex scenes and played on this generations ratchet form of entertainment that we see on reality TV to mask the fact that the writing was lackluster and played on the most overused stereotypes. The actors were not talented aside from Niecy Nash and a couple of the other cast members. The white guys character was just plain offensive and borderline culture appropriating of black men. Karrueche Tran was extremely bland and her acting skills were less than desired out of all the talented Asian actresses Im highly confused as to why Niecy Nash handpicked one who could not act her way out of a paper bag I guess they chose her not for her talent but for the exposure that she’d bring to the show due to being in a high profile love triangle with Chris Brown and Rihanna, the mediocrity on this show is overwhelming even though the concept is amazing. I would’ve loved to have seen what it could’ve been if the writing wasn’t so crappy and the actresses weren’t overacting, it’s probably best to not have actresses that can’t even bring to life one dimensional characters, play roles that require multi- dimensional characteristics, again all of them were
over acting but karrueche was by far the worst and she was in the leading role. It got to the point that it became painful instead of comical to watch. *sighs* I’m sure TNT will get viewers since ratchet + sex seems to sell these days but I’m sure they’d garner a lot more attention + money if the writing was better and if they scrapped Ms. Tran she is definitely the dead weight on this show and that’s not a good look for someone playing a leading role. Best of luck to Rashida Jones & Niecy Nash I hope they recast and add on a few more parts + get better writers if it even makes it past pilot season. But I was officially done with it when I seen the earlier premiere and a lot of others feel the exact same way. On a positive note the cinematography itself and cutting of the scenes was amazing but that’s more so to do with TNT production crew, they always put out amazing work if this show makes it past the pilot. I also just discovered that they paid 42 million for 10 episodes and it’s only pulling in 1.09million viewers and Power on STARZ begins next week I don’t see how it’ll survive past episode 2 that’s such an obscene amount to spend and not even pay for top notch actors! Anyways, I hope they recast karrueche trans role to someone else whether it’d be a well known Asian actress or unknown Asian actress matters not to me as long as she is talented and possesses a star quality factor that ms. tran severely lacks. I think adding Monique and Sheryl Underwood to the show would add good comic relief and maybe a young black actress unknown or known would also be a great idea and scrap that offensive culture appropriating character that, that white guy played. Best of luck to Rashida Jones and Niecy Nash I love and respect you both and I hope it works out I truly do but
I can’t sit through another episode of this trash
