Although this series isn't for everybody, it's the kind of solid single HBO can use while waiting for a new batch of heavy hitters to arrive; it's a refreshing favorite within the YouTube quadrant that won't leave their elders muttering about the crap those damn kids watch.
  2. It's so funny and so well-done on so many levels, the Conchords definitely deserve to be discovered by a wide TV audience.
  3. The level of cleverness of Flight of the Conchords is off the charts.
  4. And as the new season begins, it becomes clear that gags are easier to write in abundance than gag lyrics. The non-melodic portions of the show are still a scream.

Nothing's less funny than a comedy that tries too hard. But Flight of the Conchords pulls off the neat trick of being amusing without appearing to try at all.
  6. That the two men are in their 30s makes their perseverance more poignant--to somewhat overstate the case--and that they have no money places them in a long and honorable line of comedians who cannot put two cents together to buy a glass of seltzer.

In the early Season 2 episodes, the strain shows in the songs, which service the plot but aren't as memorable as the old ones. But the scripts are as funny and tightly written as ever.

The second season of HBO's Flight of the Conchords offers another wave of quirky hilarity of the very highest caliber, from Bret pawning his guitar to pay the rent, then mimicking guitar-playing while humming his part onstage, to Jemaine looking to supplement the duo's income with a little freelance prostitution.
  9. 88
The duo's knack for a peculiarly modest zaniness is shared with the brilliant supporting cast.

Season 2 begins on Sunday, and the off-kilter charm is still there, though some strain is beginning to show.

Wow, i really can't understand how people who liked the first series can enjoy the second. I was and still a huge fan of the first, but Wow, i really can't understand how people who liked the first series can enjoy the second. I was and still a huge fan of the first, but the second...what can i say, it is so dissapointing. Flat scenarios, mediocre songs, and the only things that 0bret and jemain seem to do is to look stupid and mostly silent...shame. Full Review »

Still a solidSeason one is just a straight 10/10 for comedic writing but thia season is still good, but lacks a bit from the first season. Still a solid comedy show with some of the best dry humour on tv. Funny as hell and easy to watch for anyone. Songs are also still pretty good but like i say, season one probably has the best. Must watch both seasons! Full Review »
