Season 3 is a very tough season to discuss. Depending on who you ask, some find it enjoyable, others hate it. Season 3 being split into two volumes, some prefer one volume, others prefer the other. But for me I have to divide this season up and then give it my overall.
Starting with Volume 3 "Villains". I was very excited for Heroes to return after a 9 month hiatus. This season was promised with more action and a faster moving plot and it definitely did that. Volume 3 started very strong, then in the middle kind of lost its way and went towards the end and really picked up. I enjoyed this volume, more than most. Upon years of viewings I still find this volume fun as hell. From this point in the series, if you sit back and realize it won't be season 1 again and go with it, you will enjoy it. This season has a lot of twist and turns and I do not wish to spoil them for people so I will keep these reviews very quick and broad. Volume 3 is flawed, but a big improvement over season 2. 8.0/10
Volume 4 "Fugitives" fixed the problems "Villains" had. Mostly, the more focused storyline. Fugitives started strong in its first episode then the next two that followed, I wasn't sure. Thankfully, the show picked up and Volume 4, by its 5th episode was so exciting and well written, by far being the second best Volume of the series. Easily a 9/10.
Since normally from a 9 and an 8 you would say it earned an 8.5. But since that can't be rated that way here it has to be a 9, but that is perfectly fine, it definitely earns a 9 over an 8.
HOLY **** !!! I can not decide what the best season is ! All seasons are until now awsome !!! But I can say that in this season is better Part 2. That is more exciting. And the end... ähh i can only say that: WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In their certitude, the villains are more compelling than their wishy-washy heroic counterparts. The real excitement of “Villains” is its promise to expand the series’ assortment of baddies: their unabashed queerness and freakery make for more fun.
The first hour of Heroes answers enough questions and moves the story forward in such a way that a few "Huh?" moments won't matter as long as they're answered in short order and don't linger for too long.
Even just a half hour in, it's difficult not to wish everyone would just lighten the heck up. The graphic novel noir feel is becoming increasingly oppressive, and everyone is just so grim.
It is hard to rate this because it is broken into two volumes. I enjoy Villains slightly more than fugitives. That being said, no its not as good as the first season... everyone needs to let that go... thats why they struggle to enjoy it. If you just have fun and go along, you'll see there are still great stories in this series.
Pretty decent run. Volume Three "Villains" is considerably much better than Volume Four "Fugitives". All the characters' identities seem to have completely changed or taken a turn into the unknown in both volumes 3 and 4. There doesn't seem to be much interesting interaction between the characters. It's very much focused on "stopping the bad guy" rather than what made the first series good, which is an exploration of different characters' motives. Overall I'd certainly advise watching "Villains" but the Fugitives volume seems more like a brainstorm of ideas. You have all these chapters but none of them really connect to the end result. It's all a bit jumbled.
After a disappointing second season there were hopes that season three would see a return to form, sadly that wasn’t the case. Too often characters acted inconsistently, or were brought back in a way that felt forced and unnatural and in all honesty I never made it to the end of this season.
Okay, season 1 had a lot of great moments, though it was slow. This, was a mess.
While the acting is still good, the plot keeps getting messier.
I really hate the finale and while Sylar is still cool and has lots of depth I feel that he was getting overused. Also, weird time-travel garbage is present.
This season is a big failure in my perspective.
