One of TV's best shows, comedy or drama, because this series often succeeds as both.
The new episodes start well, then keep improving, with narrative clarity and a fresh visual beauty.
The viewer simply has to accept that he knows where his comedy is going, and that while his standup has punch lines, the humor in his sketches often stems more from a cumulative impression than one-liners along the way.
Often profane and occasionally offensive, Louie won't be to every viewer's taste, but it's a more interesting show than many with a definitive point of view.
Louie is so low-key that it has no discernible pulse. To say it's unfunny is accurate (profoundly so) but also beside the point: It's un-anything.
