How can his show be on the chopping block. the characters are fully formed and believable. The historic context and the well played human condition is addictive. I am disappointed in WGN that they would keep lesser shows like the "100" and toss this very smart program out
I normally don't take the time to do reviews, but this is easily one of the best TV shows on right now. I'm afraid people may not be watching it because it is not a mainstream network but please do not let that stop you. Watch a few episodes and you will be hooked. Being a drama based on history you already know the ultimate outcome, but it will still leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. The cast is superb and flawless and you will not be disappointed.
Manhattan has a feel both for the rush of scientific discovery and for the often-difficult personalities drawn to it. In this war story, the most fascinating battles are among allies.
Season 2 of Manhattan gets off to a slow start and may require catch-up work. But the high-minded story about the creators of the atom bomb soon picks up the pace.
Manhattan returns to WGN America on Tuesday (October 13) for its second season and it hasn't made one of those leaps that might cause critics to yell into the void that this is a classic drama that viewers are missing out on, but it still features a superb and growing ensemble cast, a textured commitment to period detail, the smooth execution of some of TV's best directors and the looming potential of atomic detonation to give it all some dramatic juice.
[A] well-executed, edge-of-your-seat drama.... It reduces a unique story to a typical genre entry.... [Shaw's] characters are ruinous, emotionally stunted creatures.
Love this show. Great cast and just enough historical facts to make me into a Manhattan project fact finder. Beautifully filmed. WGN America has found a winner!!
S1 laid the groundwork and delivered an above average experience, but S2 is taking it to a new level. The story feels tighter, the situations are more intriguing, the guest stars are great, and the introduction of new well known historical figures is exciting. Neve Campbell is fantastic! This show really is starting to feel like the caliber of both Mad Men and The Americans fused as one in a unique setting/scenario.
Great show, but this season dragged at times so I took 2 points off my score, the closer we get to the bomb the more the intrigue is making strange bedfellows, we all know how this story turns out but this dramatization is keeping me very entertained, will tune in for season 3, hope they pick up the pace.
Turned a historical show into a lecture on world peace. Loved it when it was science.. Now, it is just a "Lost" joke. Too bad.. crappy Hollywood B.S. and their agenda. Get it straight.. millions of lives were saved by dropping these bombs. Japanese were ruthless cowardly rapists, tortures and murderers. Innocent lives were lost unfortunately, but millions more would have died in an invasion. Ever visit the Philippines? I lives there from 1969 to 1972 and heard all of the atrocities these animals were committing. Bye Bye Manhattan.. another piece of Hollywood crap. Stick to history. Look at why things are. Look at the examples of American NOT to use this kind of force again. look at the United States leading in the desire to control these weapons.
