Perhaps as the interplay between the World War II setting and other Marvelverses continues, we’ll see that the creative team learned from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,’s early stumbles, so the new show is more mature, and ready to hit the ground with its Enfield No. 4s blazing.

Agents of SHIELD remains a flawed construct, but the less viewers thinks about that, the more they’re apt to enjoy it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After a really good debut season, the show tops itself with a much better, improved and exciting second season!

I love how this season makes the show has more impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we still get to see the S.H.I.E.L.D. vs. HYDRA conflict going on while also standing out on its own without its dependence on other Marvel Cinematic Universe properties.

I loved how this season has no filler episodes and it has a very tight story arc that it plays out as a very long, yet entertaining movie. The story arcs were excellently executed with excellent writing and they get fair amounts of screen time.

The effects were surprisingly much better than the previous season. I was surprised that this show with only decent ratings can get really good special effects.

The new additions to the the team Bobbi, Hunter and Mack made this show more fun to watch. One of my favorite parts of them being the new additions to the team are Bobbi and Hunter’s hate-love chemistry which is adorable and funny.

The character development is also excellently executed. There were a lot of character developments that I really liked so I can only list a few. I liked the character development of Skye as she becomes more of a bad-ass and she learns more about her origins and her parents as well as her new-found discovery that she is an Inhuman. Another character development I liked was Agent May’s as we get to finally see what made Agent May who she is today in her titular “Melinda” episode. I also liked the conflict between Fitz and Simmons as they have a different way of handling their trauma from the previous season in which it’s heartbreaking to watch as a FitzSimmons fan.

The sophomore season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. shows they deserved to exist as a TV show and a Marvel propriety and it screams out excitement and thrills with tight storytelling, excellently executed plot arcs and character development and brand new characters that fit in the show just fine.
