Naked and Afraid has a forthright feel to it that borders on a psychological and physical study, even though participants remain with a production crew, unlike the grueling series Survivorman, which featured just one man with a camera.
I just finished watching episode four and I have to say that Glenn had no business being on the show. Laura would've done so much better if she was by herself or with someone else. I think Glenn was there only because she wanted to hang out with a naked chick. It seemed as though Laura had 10 times more survival skills, I think Glenn's only survival skill is drinking beer, the guy couldn't even start a fire. It took Laura and her skills to actually find something halfway decent to eat why Glenn just kept walking off. As far as I'm concerned Glenn's a freaking idiot and should never have been selected for the show, meanwhile Laura did totally awesome. If I was to be stranded somewhere it would be an honor and a pleasure to be stranded with Laura whether she was naked or not. Laura is smart and strong and very ambitious. The score I give is totally for Laura.
Awesome show that both teaches you survival skills and human skills. I highly recommend this show to anyone that's a survival buff or just interested in real reality shows.
The experience looks very difficult, but also a little boring, which explains the need for the in-your-face title: “Filthy and Exhausted” just doesn’t have the same ring.
Even if all of their naughty bits weren't pixilated--it's still a bonanza for backside gazing, just saying--they soon become so grimy, gaunt and downright miserable as they starve and shiver for days on end that it's all about as arousing as a labor camp death march.
I've watched 4 episodes and the excitement varies. The latest was a little less exciting than the others. However, the show is a study on human endurance on the physical as was as mental levels. Yes the nudity may lure viewers in, but it also exposes just how fragile an animal Homo sapiens are when dropped into nature and asked to survive. I love the concept. Its like a more hardcore "Survivor" wrapped up in one episode.
Good enough as a survival show. Only being able to have one survival instrument each is interesting. I learned that a pot to boil water in may be much more useful than many other things I might have considered first. The nudity doesn't bother me, it's more of a marketing ploy, as they surely aren't any safer or better off with a pair of shorts or bathing suit, but it could add to the dynamic between the two people in a way. I'm not seeing anything on this show I don't see at the beach. It shows how different people can be and how they both have strengths and weaknesses, and different knowledge and experience. They seem to do much better working together and playing off those strengths and weaknesses. It's better than most "reality" TV.
Get this series off the freaking Discovery Channel. I never liked Survivor, and thought it was a sham, so what do you think I'm going to think about Naked and.... ? Can tell some of the participants are rich and spoiled millionaires, and think all of it is false like Trump, no matter the silly ass arguments they ALWAYS get into, per the reality TV formula. The Dual Survivor was a much better series for people who act like they actually know survival techniques, esp. those they can teach the rest of us. If I wanna look at naked people much less ones under duress and starvation, I just won't look at it--- we have legal mainstream porn, FCOL!
Shameless. "Sex sells" and so does nudity. This has nothing more to do with survival than a boy scouts tutorial video. It's all for ratings and to prey off your numb-minded voyeuristic curiosities. If I wanted my kids to learn about survival would I have them watch this? No. Maybe Bear Grylls though, who teaches you REALISTIC skills and doesn't have his junk hanging out for the sake of ratings. Because you know, most times we get stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere we kind of have clothes on our backs....
Seriously Discovery Channel? This is a new low even for you. The show has it's moments, the whole survival thing is interesting for a while... but given that they just find a place on the first day and sit there for 3 weeks doing basically nothing, for the most part is just plain boring. The endless gratuitous buttocks nudity is just a bit OTT... OK actually WAY OTT and totally unnecessary to convey the shows message. What a silly little show Discovery.
