Iit’s one of the best-written shows on TV.... This is a solid ensemble cast, with equally fine, and often very funny, performances from Ash, Arnold, Lee, Epps and Bauer.
Any way you look at it, Survivor’s Remorse offers the complete package.
What follows isn't just a satire of the ESPN lifestyle but a smart, savvy depiction of the camaraderie people of color sometimes develop when they find themselves in lily-white environs. [21/28 Aug 2015, p.95]
In Season 2 it’s the quality of the family-sitcom interplay that continues to make Survivor’s Remorse, created by the actor and writer Mike O’Malley and inspired in part by the life of LeBron James, one of the funnier and more appealing mainstream half-hours on television--mainstream meaning formulaic but with a light enough touch that you can choose to ignore it.
The series has settled into a nice groove thanks to the clever writing and strong interplay among the cast.
Survivor’s Remorse becomes simultaneously more uncomfortable and funnier as it launches its second season Saturday. Both those qualities are good.
