Big Bang is the funniest new sitcom of the season.
  2. With so few traditional sitcoms on the air this year, the new ones had better be good. Happily for viewers, Fox's "Back to You" and CBS's Big Bang Theory qualify as generally welcome newcomers.

Half the fun in this outlandishly funny sitcom is that Penny is so spacey that she doesn't appear to recognize what hard-core nerds Leonard and Sheldon really are--even the presence in their bathroom of Luke Skywalker No-More-Tears Shampoo doesn't tip her off.
  4. "Chuck" has interests similar to those of the heroes of Big Bang, including a lack of interest in chasing women, but his comedy is more inventive--the better bet in a new era in which the nerd no longer loses, but the best nerd show wins.
  5. It's just the same joke endlessly repeated--the everyday translated into geek-speak, and the obscure and difficult treated as if it were common knowledge.... These are perilous times for sitcoms, and Lorre & Co. may want to think up another.

While it's got that professional Burrows sheen of unerrant joke delivery--especially from the talented Galecki, who can do this in his sleep--you have to assume the pile of scripts on his desk in this hurting age for the three-camera studio-audience format isn’t what it once was.
  7. 20
Even if the jokes on this show weren’t tired and mean-spirited, it would be hard to care about any comedy that hates its own lead characters so much.

Sharp writing that respects the intelligence of the audience much like Frasier did. The cast is fantastic but the stand-out is Jim Parsons. Being an A-level Physics and Mathematics student makes me understand the jokes very easily at the expense of my mother. Anyways, The Big BangBeing an A-level Physics and Mathematics student makes me understand the jokes very easily at the expense of my mother. Anyways, The Big Bang Theory is probably the best comedy going on, right now and in a matter if two seasons, it has become my favourite show. The chemistry between some of the characters (preferably Sheldon and Penny) is superb and the humour is great. 'Smart is the new sexy.' Expand

I will be very honest, as much as the characters in this show are very amusing, funny and comes off as hilarious in many places, the wholeI will be very honest, as much as the characters in this show are very amusing, funny and comes off as hilarious in many places, the whole show entirely however is not very funny. The whole science/comic book nerds idea and their interactions with the real world and people should have been plain funny but the show relays so much on cheap jokes, bullying, stereotypes and overuse of the same old cliched laughs tactics. I think its 10 times better than Two and a Half Men but worst than the much funnier New Girl. I still find some parts of the show funny and nice to actually to sit everyday and finish this show and that includes the character of Sheldon Cooper. Expand

This show really is unfunny, as in not funny at all... in any way. I don't see how some people think this is a good show. It's bad, reallyThis show really is unfunny, as in not funny at all... in any way. I don't see how some people think this is a good show. It's bad, really bad. I think what tricks some people into thinking the show is funny is the laugh track, which is super obnoxious and plays every time a character speaks. The characters on this show are one dimensional... barely. The jokes... wait can they still be called jokes, if they're not funny? Doesn't matter, I'll just use quotation marks. The "jokes" range from terrible to stale. I wish this show was on the level of bad where it's so bad it's entertaining to watch -- but unfortunately it's not. Steer well clear of The Big Bang Theory for your own sake.

If you read this review and are a fan of this show I'm sorry, for 3 reasons:
    1. You don't realise what you're watching is bad.
    2. That you have bad taste in TV comedy. And--
    3. That you just read point 2.

Just so it's clear point 2 above isn't necessarily a fact, it's a very emotional statement. There's no accounting for taste.

I'm surprised I haven't gotten around to saying it yet in this review but... I hate The Big Bang Theory (in case you didn't guess, based on my comments above.)

If you're a fan can I ask you a question? -- Why? I mean do you not like funny things? Whatever like I said, there's no accounting for taste. I really have an axe to grind with this show.
