This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been exited about this show ever since they announced it. I liked the pilot, but I kinda saw the ending coming. I feel like we saw every trick Klaus can do so he's becoming somehow predictable. They need to step up there game in the next few episodes Expand

As a fan of The Vampire Diaries, I was initially excited about this. After watching it I found myself a little bored... The main reason why people liked Klaus was because of Klaroline! And that seems as if it will be non-existent in the Originals.... I'll probably continue watch for the hope of a cross-over episode with TVD. Expand

Last year, The Vampire Diaries gave us a preview of what the spinoff, The Originals would be like. And, if very much is, exactly how they said it would be. The question remains, is the character of Klaus, notorious for doing everything we don't want him to do but still managing to not have us COMPLETELY hate him because of his moderately good looks and awesome powers enough to sustain a show? After two episodes, I'm not so sure. The show... lacks color and variety. What I mean is, the cast isn't very strong in terms of likability and unless they throw in some crazy Vampire Diariesesque twists and surprise deaths, I feel it will not live beyond a first season. It's not terrible, I didn't say that but it's not the Vampire Diaries. Klaus isn't really doing it for me. Expand

There are a lot of moving parts and agendas here, but The Originals does a pretty good job of stitching them all together by the end of its first hour.

The premiere episode of the new series, "Always and Forever," tells pretty much the same story as the backdoor pilot, only from the point of view of Elijah (not Klaus, as before). This works on some levels but stumbles on others.

It's "House of Cards," with a werewolf/vampire hybrid instead of a charming but ruthless Southern senator.
