The uneven Sarah Smith may be a lesser "Who," but it's smarter than most kids' fare. [11 Apr 2008, p.70]

The show offers a satisfying dose of alien-flavored escapism, especially for younger fans of genre fare (Sarah Jane has a few hip and appealing teen companions).
  3. You could resist it, really, as you should be able to resist all television, unless you have been completely assimilated into the matrix. But you'd be missing some sparky fun. Submit.
  4. Aided by her 13-year-old neighbor, Maria (Yasmin Paige), Sarah Jane faces down baddies every bit as big as those "Torchwood" takes on, but with (a lot) fewer sexual overtones. Could be just what The Doctor ordered.

Broadly aimed at kids, with cheesy monsters and two youthful protagonists joining in the world-saving exploits, the series may be modestly entertaining for the moppet crowd but will test the patience of adults in this dimension or any other.

  1. A brilliant spin-off to Doctor Who. it's great for children and adults as the plots will keep them interested (just like Doctor Who). In one word: Excellent. Full Review »

Great sci-fi fun with likable characters. For all ages - not just for kids!

The Sarah Jane Adventures gets off to a dubious start but gets better and better as it goes along. It's wonderful having Sarah Jane back, and her young assistants - and the challenges they face - are delightful. I'd take them any day ahead of the overgrown, oversexed adolescent "adults" of Torchwood. Full Review »
