By season 7, most series begin to lose steam or lose their identity, but The Walking Dead somehow feels as fresh, thrilling, dramatic, and exciting as it did in its early days, if not more so. The showrunners are pushing the envelope the right way, and they can get away with showing us the most disgusting, disturbing things imaginable because after seven years, frankly, they’ve earned it.

All in all, not a great episode, but a savage and a useful one.

It was miserable, and tedious, and made me feel bad. Not in an emotionally compelling way, just in a “I could be watching something of value” way.

The Walking Dead is a show that people just love to find fault with, its too fast, its too slow, too many zombies, not enough zombies. etcThe Walking Dead is a show that people just love to find fault with, its too fast, its too slow, too many zombies, not enough zombies. etc etc. The show runners can't win and to their credit they ignore the critics and just keep delivering. It's one of the top three shows of the last decade.
An awesome season so far. Negan is frighteningly brutal and nightmarish. Tremendous performance by Jeffrey Stanton Morgan. The story threads are separated to date but they will interweave and intersect by the finale and hit the nail as TWD always does.
It has always been a cerebral show on a level that Marvel and co are not. There are philosophical questions addressed on the human condition and characters have a lot of a depth. Some viewers are bored by this which I suppose is understandable.
Finally the production level is outstanding, script dialogue ,direction, cinematography, the lot. The attention to detail is spectacular and unfortunately goes unnoticed by many.

Brutal, gory, in-your-face as always....i cannot wait to see the vengeance which, when happens, must be of epic measure. The show re-invents itself and that is the reason why we all enjoy it. The dead never posed a real threat, it's the living ! Expand

There's manipulation used to advance the plot. Then there's playing with the audience just for the sake of playing with the audience. TheThere's manipulation used to advance the plot. Then there's playing with the audience just for the sake of playing with the audience. The Walking Dead has been straddling the line between the two, for some time. The season 7 premiere seemed to purposely address the complaints that some previous season episodes seemed stretched out and a bit boring. Well, Lucille took care of that. And, as much as the episode was about breaking down Rick, it broke down the viewer. Dragging out the victim's identities through quickie flashbacks in Rick's mind was unnecessary and, again, played with the audience just to delay the inevitable. And the violence. I'm been a film fan for decades (and love horror films) and what was televised was some of the most extreme and unrelenting violence I've ever seen. The aftermath of one victim was so gruesome, I'm surprised AMC got away with it. It surpassed the stuff on AHS, and that's some heavy stuff. So, as much as I appreciate the producers taking their gloves off and getting nasty, I still feel like they're playing with us, as opposed to letting the story take it's twists and turns. Expand

Amazing premier, fantastic performances and of corz shocking enough even for those who have read the comic book as well.
BUT the later episodes are such a let down. of corz we get to see how the negan has gained control over rick but the worst thing is that the story is so slow...as well it spends 40min talking about a 5~10 min worth of story.
