On his new special he proves himself an admirable comedian, walking the line of being funny and incisive. Psychosexual is a refreshingly good time and a testament to Kim Booster’s talent.

Rutherford Falls keeps the momentum going up until the credits roll. Not only is Rutherford Falls an enjoyable watch, but the sitcom thoughtfully dissects American culture and centers Native stories. There’s no dearth of excellent television right now, but this heartwarming, funny, and boundary-breaking show is a must-see.

The first six episodes of Hacks’ second season are very much a middle act, with plenty going on, but no concrete resolutions. And that’s perfectly okay; these characters are well-established and enjoyable enough that it’s fun to simply hit the road with Deborah, Ava, and Marcus.

After a slow start (honestly, though, how many shows nail their beginnings?), the series moves at full tilt as the writers explore dark and unexpected places. With a strong cast and some stellar directorial choices, Hacks is a necessary addition to your summer watch list.

For an hour, the Saturday Night Live alum has an incredible time onstage, and this energy makes her set an infectiously joyous start to 2020.

There’s a real craftsmanship to the structure of Something Special, which for the most part feels loosey goosey until everything comes together exquisitely at the close. Gadsby proves in their new hour that they can do a breezy, feel-good show with aplomb.

The lion’s share of the time is spent on the many facets of The Carol Burnett Show, and these are by far the most engaging parts of the special. ... We’re also treated to some spectacular performances from Broadway belters Kristen Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters, and Sutton Foster, among others. You can tell they’re having so much fun singing up there and celebrating Burnett, and as a result their numbers are genuinely a joy to watch.

The series may make some tonal missteps, and it certainly takes a few episodes for Life & Beth to find its footing, but the overall emotional depth and stellar performances make the comedy-drama worth a watch.

George Carlin’s American Dream effectively shows all sides of Carlin—a class clown, a rebel, a former idealist, a husband, a loner, a father, an artist—and reiterates his lasting legacy as a talented comedian who keenly understood the human condition.

Despite its occasional shortcomings, The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show has enough moments of surreal humor and the odd stroke of genius to keep your interest piqued.

Alive From New York runs just under 50 minutes, and would have a chance at being decent if the New York comedian decided to cut it down to a solid half hour. Instead, he waffles on in a meandering way, never quite hitting his stride and certainly benefiting from a generous editor.
