I'll give this a 5/10 to offset the zero reviews below! It's an indie game and one mustn't expect AAA quality from it.
It has some neat mechanics, and it's one of few games which implemented any kind of sailing / wind navigation mechanics which take into account wind direction and speed. Still, the movement is arcadey, the story is... I forgot if there is any. The ocean feels tiny because the scale is artificially reduced. As a player you can see things MUCH further away than the NPC ships can. The NPCs sail straight into a tornado without even trying to escape it. Upon getting within a certain range of an arcady-looking tornado thingy - the NPC ships instantly turn into a box with floating loot. No ship wrecking or sinking animations...
It's OK to play this for an evening or two.
I agree 100% with what yosa1 stated in his review. I add to that the fact that the latest update on PS4 totally bugged the prices. All buy prices are now higher than all sell prices at every port and the prices no longer change. This means you cannot make a profit on anything and cannot earn gold to buy bigger ships and equip them. This totally makes the game pointless to play as you are now stuck with the smallest, lamest, weakest ship and do not stand a chance of getting very far through the game.
This is an absolute joke ****, its interface is ios all the way, pictures without descriptions, no tool tips, bad menu design, bad town interface, terrible character progression design.
Attacking ships is laughable as they seem to get a wider firing range as opposed to your narrow bowling alley strip, your shots may never fire due to the unresponsiveness, when you do win, you get a paltry sum of floatsam, you do not get to take the ship to grab the full cargo or take it to port to sell, this is a shallow attempt when a major aspect as battle and piracy.
I won't go into other aspects, if you need a game that piques your nautical trading and pirate interests, this one is just a chameleon at best. Try uncharted waters new Horizons for the snes, I rate that better.
