A fantastic addition for the 3DS. The graphics are crisp and utilize 3D well, while the music fits each game and board without becoming monotonous. Every mode and board is easy to pick up and play with anyone, anytime.. Island Tour is a perfect balance of old and new that keeps the game fresh with playing styles to meet every need.

It was nice to have a brief but satisfying match while out and about.

Nintendo is a master at finding a specific target audience and offer them exactly what they want, sometimes even with a little less quality than usual. Mario Party: Island Tour does just that, speaking to the more casual audience among the owners of Nintendo 3DS.

Board game enthusiasts will find themselves bored quickly, the average player will only break it out when there are friends around—which is the point, and I guess with friends the skill-based games aren’t too bad—and Party aficionados will be able to scratch that virtual itch.

This doesn’t hold up even compared to previous portable Mario Party titles, and it’s one of the few Nintendo published titles you can safely skip this holiday season.

One Person doesn't make a party, and when trying to make my friends play this with me they all instantly wanna switch to Mario Party 9 instead.

Unfortunately, no amount of options can overcome the inane gameplay. I’ve defended the series in the past as harmless, dumb fun, but Island Tour is wholly unenjoyable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mario Party: Island Tour isn't perfect, as is any Mario Party game, but I feel like it stands up to its console competitors. The minigames are fun, the boards are unique, and the multiplayer is amazing. The only downside is Bowser's Tower. It ultimately sullied my single-player experience as I found out that it doesn't really end. I have climbed the tower seven times now, and each time I find my character, Toad, being trolled by Bowser, saying that the Bowser I defeated was a decoy, and then punching me off the tower. It gets very annoying, and I have yet to see a definite storyline or a plausible ending. Maybe if I use a different character? If someone has a way to see a different ending, do tell me.

Overall, Mario Party: Island Tour is charming, fun, and a very good time to be had. Too bad Bowser had to ruin it from being the best handheld installment. 8.75/10

    I don´t know how people can give it a 6.2/10, for me it´s a 9/10!

Most of the minigames are simple but fun, and Bowser's tower is a good way to kill of 30 minutes. Seeing as this game was on a handheld console, I wasn't expecting it to be that great so I wasn't disappointed, but if you buy it make sure to have some friends to play it with you. Expand

But if you're playing by yourself, it canMario Party: Island Tour can be a fun game for any casual gamer, or to screw around with friends. But if you're playing by yourself, it can start to feel tedious. The modes on the menu include Party, where you play across seven different boards. Minigames, where you play whatever minigame you want. Bowser's Tower, the sort-of story mode of the game where you have to fight Bowser's underlings in minigames to get to the top of the tower. Collectables, where you can purchase bubbles of characters and stuff which are necessary to 100% the game. And finally, there's StreetPass Minigames, where you go head to head with the people you've seen in the real world. The Bowser's Tower mode can be beaten in about an hour, but you get the option to play it again. Why? And collectables are even worse. You have to play every mode, minigame, and board if you want 100%. AND for one of the boards, you need at least three human players. That means that you need two friends who have 3DS's which I don't because they're all too busy playing Fortnite. But even if you forget all the nitpicks and turn your brain off for a while, there's still a fun game to be found in here. So I give this game a 6/10 for monotonous collecting and playing for 100% but still having that Mario Party charm. Expand

I game is NOT terrible and NOT good either. I only played this twice and both times lasting about an hour. The mini games were okay but not the funnest. You're better off getting Mario Party X instead of this. I'm pretty sure a child would love this game tho! Expand

This game isn't actually too bad, but on the other hand, it isn't great. To be blunt, it's a mixed bag. Mario Party has always been innovating, but this game might be the most unique one yet. Each board is very unique and well designed, and the minigames are good, even the ones that don't innovate. A lot of the minigames in this game make good use of the touch screen and other unique features of the Nintendo 3DS. Also, Mario Party has always had luck as an aspect. Here, that aspect is cranked up to eleven. A bunch of minigames and boards require very little skill, and more of that luck. The boards are also short, leaving less time to strategize on boards where there's more skill. The story mode is also a boring montage of minigames that can be completed in a few hours. And if you want to play with friends, you better assure that they have functional 3DS-es so they can actually play the game with you. And if not, then either say "Forget it" to the multiplayer, or have your friends spend wads of cash on hardware.

No, it doesn't even deserve a 1. It deserves nothing because it feels like they just slapped mario party on the front of some garbage new game. I can't believe they ruined the series like this and I can assure anyone that I would never play this again or get any of the new mario parties. They ruined this Expand
