Trauma Center: Under the Knife lets YOU play doctor, performing increasingly complex surgeries. At first it's just another day in the O.R., but when a mysterious outbreak sweeps the area, the patients' lives are in your hands--no pressure. The stylus will be your scalpel as you make incisions, anesthetize problem areas, remove tumors, monitor vital signs, apply bandages, and more! Of course, you'll also have to deal with human drama between appointments. Keep a cool head, or you'll be out on the street (and all those years of medical school for nothing). [Atlus USA] Expand

  1. Here is a game that is both more exciting and more educational than Casualty, ER and Scrubs put together.

A game that is truly incredible and oftentimes deep, offering gamers the opportunity to perform surgical procedures (fictionally) in the comfort of their own home without all the mess of a real operating room!
  3. A unique experience that only the DS can handle. If you own a DS pick this game up, it’s well worth a play.
  4. It's not that the story is bad; it's just that the surgeries are so addictive that you’ll be anxious to scrub back in to the O.R. and pick up your scalpel/stylus.
  5. A wonderfully unique game that does an excellent job of sucking the player in through both the tense operations and intricate story segments.
  6. There's nothing else on shelves quite like it, and it's a perfect example of the sort of out-of-the-box thinking that will transform Nintendo's fliptop from an ungraded GameBoy into a true next-generation handheld machine, conceptually as well as physically.

If you find yourself in a charitable frame of mind, and can overlook the ridiculous story, one-dimensional characters, and hackneyed story elements, Trauma Center is a great twitch-action game.

It's very difficult, but Atlus managed to find a way to make it just a little too hard on every mission, so that the player is constantly improving. The gameplay is frantic and riveting. As the story progresses, the you'll find youself learning to grab the right tool without thinking about it and doing better than you could have predicted. Frustrating? Yes, at times. But so incredibly fun that you won't want to stop until you beat that mission. Just one more try. Expand

It has intense, fast action, an involving story and a real challenging gameplay. Oh, and it is incredibly fun too. Dr. Derek Stiles is just a newbie surgeon and will already discover that he has ancient healing powers that will help him defeat the GUILT, new "parasites" made by terrorists. If I say more than that, I'll spoil all the fun. The visual is realistic, both the characters and organs. The soundtrack gets on your mind and suits well the situation. There are a lot of tools you can use, but you won't get lost during the surgeries or wonder what to do. The nurse on the top screen will always be of help on the first levels to help you know what to do. The gameplay is fast and intense, with a difficulty that will sometimes make you stab the patient with anger. But why not ten? As hard as it is for me to admit, there are a few points that aren't perfect. The story is really deep, but it ends fast, although there are 7 extra stages when you complete it (all of them so hard it'll drive you nuts). One other thing that I didn't like was the excess of GUILT surgeries. There should be more of these that aren't GUILT-related. There are some stages that aren't related to these parasites, and some aren't even surgeries, but they aren't enough. Trauma Center is an awesome game, but it shouldn't be so short. Too bad. Expand
