    The most important thing is this: if you play, you will die, but you will want to pick yourself up and start all over again when you do. That's the mark of a good roguelike, that incentive to never give up, no matter how stacked the odds.

    Dungeon Plunder is a reasonable introduction to the Roguelike genre as a whole, but there are better examples available for only a little bit more complexity.

    This is a pretty classic hardcore experience down to the perma-death, annoying mechanical movement (you MUST go AROUND this small pool of water that any human could simply step over), and unhelpful menus (get four layers deep into a menu and you have to press ‘back’ four times to resume your game).

    Dungeon Plunder is an addictive rogue-like. It's easy until it's suddenly not easy any more. The first few (perma) deaths surprised me,Dungeon Plunder is an addictive rogue-like. It's easy until it's suddenly not easy any more. The first few (perma) deaths surprised me, mostly because I wasn't paying attention. The combat system is a strange but highly intelligent combination of RPG elements and video poker, which sounds strange, but works very well.

    There are no game-changing iAP, no purchasable currency, and none of the other crap that has been ruining RPGs in the past few years in order to extract money out of the pay-to-win losers of the world. The only iAPs are cosmetic (new character sprites) and tips for the developer.

    The developer replies to player feedback, and has been quick to release updates (at least 2 in 2 weeks since release). The dev has already announced an upcoming 4th class (ranger).

    The graphics are basic but functional, which is right on par for a rogue-like. The music is actually very good, and the sound effects help during combat. The itemization is very basic, and gets the job done. Basically, for each slot, your character automatically equips the best item. Armor is just... armor and weapons are just damage. There are artifacts that boost other stats, but even those just fall into a slot. It would be nice to see some minor itemization, although you could argue that it wouldn't add as much to this game as it does in a more traditional rogue-like such as 100 Rogues. The UI could also use some polish, but again this doesn't get in the way with enjoying the game.

    This game has been swallowing up way too much of my time lately, while my shelf of AAA PC and console games collect dust. Very Additive.
