Mar 1, 2011R-Type is a Must Have classic shooter that will chew you up and spit you out.
-
Mar 1, 2011R-Type is still an insanely difficult shmup that is best consumed by those well-versed in the genre or looking to experience a classic entry in it, but those looking to experience this monument to old-school gaming will find a fantastic port awaits them.
-
Mar 1, 2011It has a quality to it, be it the great soundtrack, great graphics (for the time) and challenging gameplay, that keeps you coming back for more.
-
Mar 9, 2011Initially it may take some people are a little while in getting use to the controls but once you have mastered them, R-Type goes from a mediocre game to something decent but just be warned, the game can sometimes be frustratingly annoying, especially when you keep dying and dying but persistence is the key and the answer to your rewards.
-
Mar 1, 2011To go along with all those retro graphics is one awesome soundtrack ripped right from the days of Japanese-inspired coin-ops.
-
Mar 1, 2011Competent touch controls and new options to dull the painful difficulty make this port of arcade shooter R Type generally pleasing.
-
Mar 1, 2011If you are a total R-Type diehard, I'd completely understand parting with a couple bucks to download it. But with so many other places to play R-Type – and be able to make the hard plays to defeat the Bydo Empire – it's tough to widely recommend.
-
Mar 1, 2011R-Type doesn't have much longevity going for it – no online leaderboards, no bonus levels, no R-Type II – but considering its two dollar price tag, you could buy worse for your Apple device.
