You might say that 7 dollars is a lot for an app lacking multiplayer, but it is cheaper than the actual board game, so if you already have an iPhone or iPad (Why are you even on this site if you don’t? You silly Billy) it’s definitely worth it. If you are new to deck builders entirely, I’d try some of the free ones or cheaper ones roaming around the app store first, like my main squeeze Ascension, just to get a taste of the general mechanics.
Splendor has a couple of silly issues, but it’s still a great port of a great game.
The app certainly doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay, and actually enhances it by making it easy to play and beautiful to look at.
A good-looking and smooth playing adaptation of a cracking card game, but of limited interest without online play.
The Splendor app is a great way for fans of the original game to play it on the go.
The core of Splendor is a smart, accessible strategy experience, and you get a taste of that from the mobile game. But more than anything, Splendor just whetted my appetite for playing it with actual cards and tokens, which even it seems to acknowledge is the game’s ideal form.
It’s a dry exercise in competitive mathing that happens to have pictures under the numbers.
