This is a great point and click adventure 90s style. Great art, fantastic story. The riddles are "logical" too and shouldn't stump you too much.

The story is about climate change and while it might sound boring it is actually great. Well worth a buy if you are a fan of point and click games

I'm not usually a big fan of adventure games (except maybe for the original Indiana Jones...). However the maturity of the storyline got me to buy it. I do enjoy the cartoony cut scenes delivery as well.

There are a few quirks on the way the cut scenes are delivered. Sometimes you get audio spats in between scenes (probably loading / unloading sounds?) and some minor other bugs. Sometimes the characters have a bit of moon-walking action going on, in the close up scenes. Also some lip syncing is completely off in some cut scenes but that could be my computer... And I'm being picky. It doesn't take you out of the action which is the main thing... The puzzles between scenes can be a big gimmicky at times but I think that's just the nature of any adventure games. I did enjoy the skip button availability for complex puzzles. You get to the point where "ok I see where this is going but I've had enough of this" and you can skip. Cool stuff. I really dig the story, so it always gave me the incentive to see what's next and push through puzzles.

Overall very happy with this title and I'm not finished with it yet. So thumbs up.

Very strong and broken characters, beautiful setting and melancholic story. One of the best adventures from Daedalic , and I`ve played them all. Check Whispered World also

It's a great adventure game, when it comes down to it. I had to reference a walkthrough 3 or 4 times for puzzles that I either didn't feel like spending hours on, or for puzzles that were simply non-intuitive via the interface (like, actions or events that after I had read the answer made me think "gee, I thought of that 30 minutes ago, and it didn't work the way I tried to implementIt's a great adventure game, when it comes down to it. The voice acting is mediocre, but I could care less about that. If this game had no voice acting, and consisted of text subtitles only, you would find that the dialogue and conversations are great anyway, and provoke the same human emotions and reactions from you, the player, nonetheless. So, I can't rightfully take any strikes against this game for the voice acting--it's just so superficial.

Bottom line, great story, great comic-art graphics, nice music, and absolutely worth playing!

At the beginning I was very sceptic to that game. I thought it would be just another mumbo jumbo about the ecology. But when I started the game it completely drew me in. The story was amazing and led me to the masterful ending.
Story and ending aren't the only great thing in that game. It also has very climatic music, beautiful drawn locations and difficult riddles.
    I can't not mention

A New Beginning is a beautiful adventure game. It is not perfect, but the low ratings do the game by far not justice. The puzzles are challenging without being frustrating. The game does also have its bad sides, like low resolution graphics and over complicated controls. But luckily these issues fade away as one gets used to it and sucked in by the story.

The game tells a story of a team of people from the future where climate change did destroy the earth as we know it and the upcoming sun storm is about to destroy the rest of humanity. To prevent that they go back in time to prevent the climate change that destroyed the world we know. In the game you play either as Fay a radio operator from the future - or an older retired scientist from the present - Bent Svenson. They team up in order to show an alternative to the nuclear power - which is supposed to be green algae. The story takes them through quite a few locations around the world.

The story is interesting, a bit educational probably but that did not bother me at all and I had quite fun following it through. Most importantly it makes sense and keeps you wondering what will happen next. Well told.

The levels are varied and well designed. Very well painted as well. The animation of characters is also quite nice, although scaling them to smaller sizes at times shows some problems. Cut scenes are presented through a comic like panels - they fit well within the whole aesthetic and look just good. Every sentence said by any character is spoken which is nice. For the most part the voice acting is descent - they do have some trouble with more expressive emotions but that's not that big of a deal.

I enjoyed the puzzle design very much. Most of them are pretty well designed, make sense and they're well contained. You have to solve them before you'll be able to move forward. There's no jumping between multiple locations looking what to do next. And they make sense - the amount of random clicking everything on everything is quite rare.

Apart from few bugs - a text displayed in wrong language or missing required item (fixable once googled) - the game has no other bigger problems. The are nitpicks that I've had with it. The first being a rare but frustrating plot holes, when something just happens and you're not sure how it came to it. The second being the plot twist at the end - totally didn't see it coming which is good - but the more I think about it things don't add up. It brakes a bit a great story in the end and is hard to let go - more so that the story held up pretty well till the very end.

Overall a very recommendable point and click adventure game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nice comic art work and a good story, so worth to play it. The game really feels german with the style of dialogs and the eco thematics. Though personally I found the cyanobacteria as alternative energy to nuclear power as a slob indoctrination, and wondered if the story isn't some sort of ad to this (knowing that Germany already plans to shut off all nuclear power by 2036). But the ending is pretty well polished, giving a sense to it. The moral of the story remembers me on the book of Rachel Carson's silent spring. Expand

An uncomplicated plot, about the eternal question "What will happen next?" adventure tells us about one of the possible options for the development of the future, even in the key of fiction but no less heated and interesting, adequate gameplay-clicker, thoughtful but not without shoals of characters, and all under the sauce of not difficult puzzles, I recommend to all fans of the genre.

Classic point and click adventure game with an interesting story, great music, and decent puzzles.

The opening scene takes place in the future in which a solar flare is about to wipe out the rest of the human race. A team is sent back in time to prevent this. The story takes place in the 1980s with flashbacks to other times told by those involved. It is an intriguing story about

The only negatives I have for the game is that the game was not originally in English and this is noticeable with the audio synch to the mouth movements and a few bad translations. In addition the voice acting is often "off" either due to the voice actors first language not being English (though they speak it well) or it just not being timed right. You will often very rarely get action prompts in German (I think). I would save often as well as I did have the game not let me open my inventory at the end of chapter 2 and it crashed near the end of the game.

My conclusion is if you like classic point and click adventures you should pick this up. The inventory puzzles and other puzzles are well designed, the story is very interesting, and the soundtrack is very good.

Awesome visuals, nice soundtrack and ok story. The puzzles are well designed and not too hard. The game suffers of some glitches but they're not too gamebreaking or anything like that. Overall, it's a good experience

If you are truly desperate for good puzzles and sumptuous art, then you could do worse than play A New Beginning, but I found it impossible to look past the many issues and really enjoy the few things it manages to do right.

It's a back and forth battle, as it's an enjoyable experience, but one that falls short of the adventure game and technological standards many have come to expect. If there was only a little bit more polish, A New Beginning – Final Cut could have been a unforgettable adventure.

I am glad to finally see an adventure game that uses its narrative potential to address some important ecological themes and ideas. Even though the conclusion of the sci-fi story seems a little unrewarding, I always had a good time playing the game. Puzzles are generally solid, the hand painted graphics are beautiful and most of the (German) voice acting is well done. A New Beginning may not be perfect, but it's mature, surprising and quite simply fun to play.
