Apr 3, 2020Exterminate all humans in this funny, compulsive, frenetic rogue-lite classical shooter set in a crazier version of the Eighties.

Apr 2, 2020Most importantly, the key feature that the game hinges on – being a parasite – is superb. You can always come back from failure by simply body-snatching a new character (when they’re unlocked, at least). It’s a fascinating precedent for a rogue-lite in which you can die twenty times yet still continue your run – but don’t think that means HyperParasite is easy, because it’s not. On the other hand, if you’re struggling, you can grind enough cash to possess sub-bosses which tip the odds more in your favour.

Apr 13, 2020HyperParasite is a frenetic and colorful twin-stick shooter within the roguelike genre, and the shape-shifting mechanic it's a satisfying twist. However, it's a better shooter than it is a roguelike, with repetitive level design and a slow and punishing progression system.

May 6, 2020Hyperparasite is a blast to play. The sheer variety of characters, each with their own style to learn, kept me coming back hour after hour. I liked the look, the endless references, and the multiple routes through each level. If only the developers hadn’t been so hellbent on making it into such an uphill slog I probably would have finished it! As it stands, it’s just too unfriendly to players and I can’t recommend it.

Sep 14, 2020HyperParasite is a good concept that is broken down by a low level of product testing. The inability to save the game as you progress through the stages and repeatedly return to the very beginning with the same boss irritates. Local co-op and minor problems with management spoil in theory an interesting project that you can try, but only if you are a fan of the genre, and all the other games have already finished.

Jan 5, 2021Hyper Parasite is a very challenging rogue-like game that features a lot of cool ‘80s inspired characters and a cool mechanic that has you playing as a parasite taking over different host bodies to survive. The game might not look great but is still addictive to play.
