A couple of minutes is enough to get the hang of Kingdoms and Castles and become hooked despite lack of campaign or multiplayer. [10/2017, p.76]

Kingdoms and Castles is a charming, relaxing, and easy to play real-time kingdom builder. Using simple polygons and vibrant colors, the game is heartwarming and challenges you to meet the needs of the people while expanding your empire.

Kingdoms and Castles is an amazingly sweet experience. It currently has a lot of room to grow, but the base experience is already very satisfying -- with charming graphics and smooth gameplay, this is one of those games you can just lose yourself for hours after a hard day’s work. The best titles in the strategy genre have that amazing ability to let you accomplish something while providing you a relaxing experience, and in that regard, Kingdoms and Castles is up there with the best of them.

Low ambition and little fun. Kingdoms and Castles copies the famous building strategies with a low effort. It's just a piece to be soon forgotten.

Kingdoms and Castles is entering into a competitive genre and may struggle to get noticed, but the ease of play and nice balance between simplicity and complexity makes it worth taking a look at. Just be sure to consider what you're going to do when the Vikings come calling.

Kingdoms and Castles is a whimsical city builder and perhaps a bit of a lightweight. This is good news if you just like making artsy 8-bit medieval towns and don't want to get bogged down with heavy menus in order to build and maintain your empire. Seasoned players looking for a little more substance and complexity will probably bore fairly quickly. Yet if paying 10 bucks for perhaps short week's worth of distraction sounds acceptable, then by all means, give this one a go.

A building strategy that does not overflow with complexity, but is very relaxing when you play it. Less content does not matter, soon there will be more. [Issue#277]

Kingdoms and Castles is a great city builder that proves that visuals in this genre are not so important.

Kingdoms and Castles is a solid effort, especially coming from such a small team. The game lacks longevity, but at $10, it may be worth picking up by those who enjoy base-building games but don't enjoy the difficulty and complexity that often comes with the genre.

Kingdoms and Castles is a fun, cutesie, relaxing game to play where you build your own cute kingdoms, and have the option to defend it from Viking invaders and dragons randomly.
the only major con of this game is that you can pretty much do everything it has to offer in a relatively short amount of time, which does suck a bit, hopefully updates add more stuff to play with.
EDIT: There is a lot more to do now, every update improves the game greatly.

A very fun and addicting game. Perfect time waster and distraction from the real world.
