Nobody Saves the World is a superb adventure, with lots of to see, do, experiment with, and have lots of crazy fun whilst doing so.

I can’t praise Nobody Saves the World enough for both its undeniable style and interesting game mechanics. The world is fleshed out and detailed, which allows the characters and environment to come to life. The Forms available create a unique class system that I personally haven’t seen before, especially because the character designs are so eccentric and interesting. The dungeons are all thematically compelling with tough challenges that make you have to experiment with different abilities and combinations. Add to this co-op compatibility and you’re left with a remarkable release that’s ready to bestow you and a friend with unrivalled joy.

Do you think that 2022 is going to be a terrible year? Well, Nobody Saves the World comes to save it with tragic humor set in an apocalypse that's destroying humankind. Rescuing the world while being a spitting fire rat is fun. Its gameplay and puzzle-solving mechanics feel like the breath of fresh air that we all need.

Nobody Saves the World is an enticing adventure through and through. The first time I stumbled upon a decaying dragon corpse or the rusted remains of a giant robot and knew I had to fight baddies inside their guts, I was sold. But DrinkBox Studios transformed the combat of a top-down adventure game into a magical experience by literally allowing the player to transform into the most typical and bizarre forms imaginable. Who knew an action game would allow players to become an egg that helplessly rolled through cat warlocks or a horse that could only attack when facing away from danger? These unique forms make for equally unique combat that merely ask the player to constantly experiment with the tools they are given. And who can say that isn’t fun? Nobody.

It’s rare that we get a game as strong as Nobody Saves the World so early in the year. With excellent combat, a huge overworld to explore, and a ton of personality, I don’t have a lot negative to say about it. Those who enjoy games like Hades and The Binding of Isaac have found their next fix. Even if you’re not generally a big fan of roguelikes, the game’s more linear overworld and forgiving checkpoints offer an inviting path to entry.

Nobody Saves the World cleverly plays on RPG tropes, poking fun while injecting them with new life thanks to interesting mechanics that keep gameplay fresh. The story expertly balances humor and seriousness, and the world is gorgeous enough that you always feel encouraged to keep exploring. Drinkbox Studios delivers its best work yet and one of the early hits of 2022 with Nobody Saves the World.

Nobody Saves the World is a hack n' slash that starts from a quite casual approach, due to the lack of both inventory and skill points distribution, but shows its real depth after a few hours of play, when we are called to experiment with thousands of different builds to to better tear all enemies to pieces. The repetitiveness that generally plagues this kind of games is kept under control thanks to fun quests and a plot that takes us on a tour around a crazy world. Absolutely recommended both for hack n' slash lovers and for those who want to approach to this genre of games without taking them too seriously.

Nobody Saves the World is a lively, funny, and original take on the well-trodden Diablo-style action RPG that’s held back only slightly by a few sticky structural issues. Nobody Saves the World won’t completely change your world, but it should brighten it a bit.

I was a bit skeptical about Nobody Saves the World pulling off everything it tried to do, but it won me over very quickly.

Nobody Saves the World takes many ideas from Guacamelee and successfully transfers them in an action RPG structure that recalls the Diablo-like sub-genre. It's surely a grindfest in the end, but an exciting one.

Despite its minor shortcomings, Nobody Saves the World kept me enthralled from start to finish as I leveled my way through form ranks for the next body or ability to work with. It's most fun when unleashing devious yet approachable combat scenarios, keeping me on my toes to find the best solution to survive. Thankfully, it gave me plenty of those unrelenting loops throughout, justifying the time to save this funny little world.

The further you progress in Nobody Saves the World, the more absurdity you encounter, and it’s wonderful.

Nobody Saves the World blends recognisable aspects from disparate works to create a wholly unique experience. Its systems will challenge you and make you think, and it’s easy to stay engaged while juggling the number of forms and abilities available to the player, while accounting for the variety in world, dungeon, and quest design throughout the adventure. The game enthusiastically discards well-trodden concepts shortly after they’re introduced, and rewards you for doing the same.

This is a fantastic little RPG with great combat and full of beautiful storytelling. It has its flaws, certainly, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it occasionally started to bore you, but it’s still a good way to relax, especially if you’re subscribed to the Game Pass.

Drinkbox Studios know how to deliver a great game regardless of the genre. It can get a bit repetitive sometimes, but it’s particularly fun with a friend.

If one were being picky, you could argue Drinkbox’s focus this time on repeated dungeon-crawling may not have the same wow factor the studio’s past projects have garnered on first glance. But while early parts may seem daunting in its implied reliance on needless grind, what players will quickly learn in Nobody Saves the World is that its flexibility with combat and dexterity with character customization is what will keep them happily fixated until adventure’s end. Even if the occasional writing doesn’t hit in the way the studio is hoping. But credit to Drinkbox for not falling into the trap of becoming too reliant on roguelite mechanics in so far as how the world is structured and how players go about rising to the task. Because what truly shines here is the studio’s ability to encourage experimentation without it feeling, like its level progression, too much of a burden to take on. Added to on top by well-suited side-quests, a challenge system that rarely gets tiresome and a general feeling throughout that one’s time never feels wasted, Nobody Saves the World stands as Drinkbox’s most curious but mechanically-satisfying title to date.

This game surprises for its simplicity and, at the same time, for the complexity of some of its game mechanics. Nobody Saves The World is always fun, with nice characters and never boring fights (even if monsters are quite repetitive).

If it's a bit flabby and messy, though, Nobody Saves the World is far more often a delight. Guacamelee was a showcase for ingenious level design, but here DrinkBox demonstrates a different knack for layering up complex systems, which combine and play off each other in deviously logical ways. Under the brash exterior lies a wonderfully technical game that offers the freedom to let you discover the quality of its craft in your own time. Grinding through quests is a genuine pleasure and, well, who doesn't want to be a horse with the powers of a slug?

No One Saves the World is a fresh, funny and original take on the classic dungeon crawler style, an action RPG with tons of hero customization possibilities and challenging randomly generated dungeons.

Nobody Saves The World is a nice action-adventure game set in a colorful cartoon-like universe. The game knows how to pace the player's progress by alternating dialogues and funny scenes with satisfying and pleasant fights. Despite its disappointing dungeons and its overall lack of challenge, it offers many fun characters to play with and its progression system that encourages experimentation and renews the pleasure of playing.

Nobody Saves the World’s form switching and punchy, responsive combat carries the game where its other elements let it down. The star of the show is its surprisingly dynamic twist on aRPG mechanics that makes figuring out builds to counter the dangers of its dungeons rewarding enough to warrant spending 20+ hours killing monsters and helping its sometimes oddball NPCs.

The main strength of Nobody Saves the World is that it is never banal: it is not so in the splendid music, in the funny dialogues, in the simple plot, nor in the complex but satisfying system of the Aspects, which gives the player the possibility of mix skills and create ever new and devastating builds. In short, it is a game in full Drinkbox style, different from the splendid Guacamelee !, but from which it inherits an over-the-top style and an explosion of creativity that can be found not only in the artistic component, but in every pixel.

While by the time the credits roll we've pretty much had our fill, it must be doing something right for 20 hours' worth of moreish, lizard-brain fun to have flown by. [Issue#368, p.116]

The middle of Nobody Saves the World is a lot of fun, but it is bookended by a slow beginning and final hours that lose steam as the campaign comes to an end.

Unfortunately, Nobody Saves the World is inferior to the studio’s Guacamelee! games. Using the different forms seems to be a bit derivative and the whole experience depends in completing myriads of small tasks, which at some point resembles a shopping list. It’s still a fun experience, thanks to its humour and lively visuals but this feeling is constantly intertwined with that of a chore.

Nobody Saves the World can be a lot of fun. Its mechanics are solid, it is visually pleasing and the music fits the game incredibly well. But the repetitive gameplay loop keeps it from becoming something special, therefore only making it something decent.

It may sound harsh, but Nobody Saves the World really threw all my pet peeves into a barrel and gave it a nice coat of paint. To give this game some props though, the co-op is fun for a little while and the game plays well. The coat of paint is, without a lie, a really nice art style. It’s just that the grind really sucks and it makes you grind from THE INTRO DUNGEON. Oh right, I was supposed to be talking about the positives. Probably the best thing about this game is that it has a very long potential gameplay time, and if you have a kid or a casual friend you want to relax and punch some monsters with, Nobody Saves the World might be a really good game.

Drinkbox's latest is an ARPG that has real fun with the classes. [Eurogamer Recommended]
  2. Thing is, dungeons only exist to further EXP and FP. Aside from numbers and forms, there isn't anything else to chase. You clear dungeons to watch grades and bars rise. Crack open chests at the end of a dungeon and you'll get some tokens. What do they do? Up some numbers. I suppose this gives the game a clear focus, but it's one that gradually wears you down. This a game built for churning through, and that's the problem. Nobody isn't so much as saving the world, but clearing it, instead.
