Tons of content and great entertainment value from start to finish. The graphics look great, being what it is, and the games still play nearly as smooth as ten years ago, but in the end it's the hilarious script and quirky characters that make this collection utterly fantastic, trumping both Sly, Jak and Kratos.
It's clear that Insomniac was light years ahead of its peers. The combination of jumping, strafing and shooting incredibly fun guns is as addictive as ever. The graphics have also been beautifully upgraded. It's one of the best looking HD collections we've seen so far. [July 2012, p.78]
A compilation with no positive or negative surprises, that will allow newcomers to discover the origin of the series, and seasoned players to enjoy the first games again in an updated fashion.
Younger users will certainly be happy to replay the series but the most experienced will probably struggle to complete all three episodes. For them the trilogy will have a more nostalgic value.
This is a well remastered compilation of three solid titles. They transitioned pretty well to the HD (and 3D) format, thanks to an artistic direction that didn't try to do too much at the time, with cartoony textures and models. The games themselves have the qualities and shortcomings of the originals. Nonetheless, the relevance of those games compared to the PS3 episodes may be questioned if you're not a die hard fan of the series.
Sadly a port of 3 awesome games that didn’t had much time in the oven. The bugs and errors are noticeable and can hurt the experience. Either way the ps3 finally has these classic tales playable.
Who doesn't love Ratchet & Clank? I grew up with these games and loved every single one of them, blowing up **** with my weapons turning people into ducks upgrading my weapons these games are like an addiction.
So you're probably wondering why I gave this a 7 instead of a 10/10 well because the games are good its the collection that ****. In fact the Collection would get a 3 or a 2 if I didn't like the Ratchet & Clank Games.
1st off there are more glitches in the Collection then their are in the actual PS2 Games and secondly a weird glitch happens with the sound on each game where after the song is finished when it starts all over again a few seconds into the song it will start again. To me this is the most irritating thing ever because I appreciate the soundtrack of these games in fact I love it and I hate it when the song doesn't play the way its supposed to. To you this is a small thing I know but to me it is not.
There is also a glitch where the Sound stops completely or sometimes you'll hear the constant firing of your weapon when your not even shooting someone in the game and this is very annoying. This also occurred in the PS2 Versions of the game so I'm used to it by now but still you'd think they would actually improve the game and remove these glitches.
Lastly the Main Menu for this Collection **** ass its the most terrible Main Menu for a PS3 Collection I have ever seen. I know it sounds like I'm complaining about something stupid but come on, every PS3 Collection I've played at least made an effort to create a good looking Main Menu or at least something decent. The Main Menu for this game is a lame picture of Ratchet & Clank All 4 One with a square in the middle depicting scenes from the 3 R & C Games from which you have to select. I thought to myself calm down its just a Main Menu its not like they could **** up anything else right?
In my conclusion I love the games but I hate the lazy effort put into making the collection. Ratchet & Clank deserves better they deserve more respect. This right here is an example of an HD Collection done wrong. I never even thought it was possible to **** up an HD Collection but I guess I was wrong. Like AngryJoe always says 'you done ****ed it up'.
Me: "Aaaalright! what's in for me today :3 ?" *game shows up. "Those old fossils? ugh, fine."
Well; that was a recording from a coupla' days ago. I wanted to review this game and it's been a while since.
But i just didn't want to you know? It's kinda' complex... sort of. The game(s) were a big part of my childhood but as of today, i haven't touched them in a longer while than since i ate a kiwi fruit. Trust me, they aren't derricious.
Huw-a-haagh! Alright; let's just get this the hell over with before i have to eat a kiwi instead!
To start off with; the game is hella' lawng dawg! Three Ps2 classics in one! For less money than all the three ones combined! Quite smashing dontcha' think? Har, har, har!
Anyways, the game is made by Insomaniac! Sorry wrong one, Insomniac! (i think) Which has made quite a couple of interesting gems lemme' tell ya' that.
To begin with; the games take place in a galaxy full of tyranny and trouble and it's your job as an anthropomorphic-cat-dude who's only company is a tin can with limbs and a helicopter head. Yay.
The game plays like a third-person-shooter, you can buy 'nades, guns, lasers, flamethrowers, hovering mines, transformation-to-duck-fetish-gun, and so on. You get ammo and money from crates or you can buy some good ol' mafia products in da' hood downtown that's currently overrun by gluttonous jabba the hutt-looking mothaf*ckas that split into smaller jabba the hutt-looking mothaf*ckas when hit (literally, not kidding).
As i said; the game is basically a collection of three Ps2 classics: Ratchet And Clank 1, Ratchet And Clank 2, and then the third one because i'm too lazy to write all that one more time.
Which then means that the game itself is very long, something i love with games these days. Most of em' are just way too short don't you think?
Anyways, *takes a bite out of a kiwi. Not much needs to be said, just look up the things you are curious about! Lots of people will agree with me that this game is a present from god that lets us relive our childhoods with the old games we used to love. My Ps2 broke after many years of intense playing and, to be honest: that was a very sad day for me. I didn't realize it at first but my childhood would be practically gone without those games. Luckily, as we already know. Someone out there knew what to do. I gotta' say; why doesen't companies re-release their ancient old games/systems? I get that those things are outdated but come on, some were unreplacable! Like the Psp for an example; most of its games will never see the light of day again because... well, you know.
Anyway, that rant **** the absolute juice out of me...... and this kiwi.
That's one of the reasons i didn't want to review this game to begin with. It's just too much for my short reviews.
Well, here's the roundup:
Pros:
1) Soundtrack is awesome, fitting, and bad*ss at times.
2) Gameplaywise, it's like an average tps game with some creative guns.... ecept the banana-gun thing that they came up in the third installment...
3) Enemies are easy enough to beat but when they bunch up you'll have to get creative.
4) The story is basic enough and is easy to understand.
Cons:
1) **** and glitches ladies and gentlemen!
2) Not more Hd than the previous games. Shocking, i know.
3) Annoying as f*ck enemies at points.
4) Unexplained puzzles
5) The ice levels. Don't even ask.
To round this up i'm just gonna' say; nostalgia wasn't a part of this review. Not at all, in fact: i review games with the benefit of the doubt and in most cases; i ignore the nostalgia me and others have experienced playing these games. Which in those terms means that this game gets the score:
"meh, but still good"
