Summarized the battle system in Hybrid revolves around tags. Get your second character in the fight at the exact right time to complete a combo and you'll be sure to win most fights. Combinations of certain fighters give access to unique attacks or powerful throws. [January 2012, p.76]
  2. Nov 23, 2011
Tekken Hybrid costs forty dollars, which is a reasonable price considering you're getting a full game, a full movie, and a demo for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. If you're a Tekken fan, this is probably worth checking out. If not, there's a small chance Tekken Prologue might convert you.
  3. Nov 30, 2011
So what are you getting for your $70, then? To be honest, not a lot. The remake's cool and all but you'd be hard pressed to justify paying more than $20 for it alone - even if you're a hardcore Tekken fan.

Unlike the visuals, Tag Tournament's mechanics are still as polished and finely-tuned today as they were almost twelve years ago. [May 2012, p.70]

Tekken Hybrid is a combo package of game, demo and film. The revamp of Tekken Tag Tournament HD looks good and feels relevant compared to modern fighters. Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Prologue gives a nice taste of what's to come, but a few more characters to try out would have been better. The film lacks a good story, but looks amazing. This package is an oddity that might confuse newcomers to the games, but will please the fans.

While a bit old fashioned, Tekken Tag Tournament succeeds as an HD update and a cheerfully robust brawler. [January 2012, p.70]
  7. Jan 17, 2012
Compared to more recent fighters, Tekken Tag Tournament doesn't hold up too well, but it still offers a good deal of fun with it's old-school team-brawling.
  8. Dec 11, 2011
Tekken Hybrid consists of a HD-remake of Tekken Tag Tournament, a demo of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and the full lenght movie Tekken Blood Vengance. Though Tekken Tag Tournament still holds out pretty good against modern fighting games, Tekken Hybrid as a whole is more for the hardcore Tekken fans.
  9. Dec 5, 2011
Tekken Hybrid is a pretty reasonable bundle for the hardcore Tekken fan.
  10. Dec 1, 2011
Tekken Hybrid offers all that a Tekken fan could desire: a 3D film, a revamped classic and a slice of the future of the series. Tekken: Blood Vengeance delivers great action scenes, but as a movie the story is not as interesting as it should. On the other hand, the HD version of Tekken Tag Tournament allow us to recover a great classic of the fighting genre, although it's clearly lacking an online mode. Finally, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue is just a demo of what's comming next year, but we're sure fans will want to put their hands on as soon as possible. In the end, a good package that could be much better.
  11. Dec 19, 2011
A compilation that lacks dedication, with a passable animation film, a remastered game and a short demo. We recommend it only to fans that can't live without having all the Tekken products in their home.

TTT is only going to meet the needs of the hardcore fans who need something to keep them busy until TTT2 is released this Fall.
  13. Dec 8, 2011
Tekken Hybrid has the nostalgia fans will adore, I'm sure. For that reason alone, I suppose I can recommend it to the die-hard followers.
  14. Nov 24, 2011
A strange mix between a not-so-polished HD remaster, a movie and a short demo. Worth the price only for the most hardcore fans.

Only hardcore Tekken fans should consider adding this to their collection. [Jan 2012, p.98]

A mediocre movie, a re-release of and old classic, and a demo of an upcoming game. That's what Tekken Hybrid contains, and whether you should get it depends entirely on how much you miss playing Tekken Tag Tournament. If you don't, there's little reason to pick this up, unless you really, really love everything related to the Tekken games and universe.

A bundle tailor-made for diehard Tekken fans that'll leave the average gamer feeling hoodwinked. [Jan 2012, p.84]
  18. Dec 12, 2011
Those who absolutely must have a slice of Tekken action this year will no doubt find something to enjoy in Tekken Hybrid. The game is a rather thin package that won't appeal to anyone unaccustomed to the series, and indeed, this would be a terrible place for them to start.
  19. Dec 7, 2011
Tekken Hybrid a package that contains a graphically-updated version of a game that was released 12 years ago, a game demo and a movie. Most gamers are going to find the $60 price tag hard to swallow, so only hardcore Tekken fans need apply.
  20. More problematic is that neither game feels as accomplished as the genre's best. SFIV is deeper and more technical, and there's more fun to be had in MVC3's frantic tag action. But there are worse ways to spend £25, even if the whole thing would actually be more valuable without the movie – the poisonous, horse-leg doner of the bunch.

Namco tries to get a few extra dollars from you hard earned money with a cheap collection including an old game, a demo and a movie. This should've been a downloadable thing for PSN and there is nothing here that's worth a full retail price.
  22. Jan 10, 2012
The original Tekken Tag Tournament is included and is the only part of this collection worth playing.
  23. Nov 30, 2011
Tekken Hybrid is a shallow collection that doesn't give Tekken Tag Tournament the rerelease it deserves.
  24. 50
For a product that seeks to please the fans, Tekken Hybrid does not offer as much promised.
  25. Dec 28, 2011
Die-hard fans only need apply for this package.
  26. Dec 7, 2011
Even though the price tag of this package is on the low side, Tekken Tag Tournament HD has no online mode, TTT2 is just a demo and the movie Blood Vengeance is quite bad. Recommended only to hardcore fans of the series.
  27. Dec 1, 2011
Although fans may be happy with the contents offered by Tekken Hybrid, an HD remake and an awful CG movie surely won't be enough for the majority of PS3 owners.

First, we get a horrible movie that will certainly be available at bargain-bin prices in no time. Secondly, we get a half-assed "HD Update" of a game that most Tekken fans already own. This "HD" Tekken Tag hardly looks better than the original and offers no extras, namely a glaring lack of online functionality. Finally, we're presented a demo with a title slapped on it and a few trophies as justification.

The real worth of this bundle? 10 dollars at most.

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT HD is a classic fighting game, reborn with HD graphics, the game looks and plays great, the problem is, it is a bare bones port, in this age it is almost unthinkable to release a fighting game without online support, but here it is. Lack of online support aside, the game is still a blast to play solo or with local multi-player, I especially love the ability to play through any mode on co-op. TEKKEN TAG 2 PROLOGUE is little more than a demo for next years game but its a nice added bonus nonetheless. The game features four key characters from Blood Vengeance and there's several different ending screens to unlock if you don't get too bored fighting the same four characters over and over. Despite is obvious lack of content (for obvious reasons) the game handles very well and I look forward to things to come. Full Review »
