Nov 26, 2018Once again, the Horsemen offer us a masterpiece. Darksiders III, even with all the fear and skepticism behind the game, has managed to become a superb hack ‘n’ slash. The personal journey of Fury against the Seven Deadly Sins is simply amazing, and everything is set towards the future for Strife to come and end this awesome epic.
-
May 20, 2019I’d much rather have a meaty and engaging adventure that’s happy to embrace its videogame origins over a lavishly budgeted and beautiful ‘experience’ littered with dull introspective and endless navel gazing. Darksiders III gleefully provides the former while completely shunning the latter, and I’m all for it.
-
Nov 26, 2018It is genuinely positive to have the next installment of a series like Darksiders in today’s market. With remarkable level design and robust combat system, Darksiders III is a must have for the fans and a great action-adventure recommendation for everyone else.
-
Nov 26, 2018Respectful of its predecessors, well designed, and fun through all its campaign, Darksiders III more than deserves its place in the series.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders 3 is the best entry in the series. This new chapter has a solid game structure and represents all the best that you can expect from a modern action-adventure game.
-
Nov 27, 2018Darksiders III is a bit rough, especially in the technical field, but in terms of content it is a surprisingly cool action-adventure that perfectly combines tasty hack & slash-combat with an interesting, semi-open world.
-
Dec 17, 2018There are certain detail flaws in some areas, but Fury’s entry into the Darksiders universe is thoroughly entertaining as well as challenging.
-
Nov 30, 2018Not quite the triumphant return long-time fans had hoped for but nevertheless, Darksiders III is an enjoyable and worthy entry in the series. The biggest issue here is that newcomers will likely find Fury and her world a little too unwelcoming. To those of us who have already shared the trials of War and the journey of Death, delivering Fury’s wrath is a satisfying if somewhat guilty pleasure.
-
Nov 28, 2018Overall, Darksiders 3 is a good game, and at times it’s very good. It’s just regrettable that it’s not better given the quality of the first two games and the long wait since DS2. Some of the issues can be patched, and may very well be in time; but at least for now, Darksiders 3 falls short of expectations.
-
Nov 27, 2018It may have taken over six years, but the Darksiders series has finally received a proper sequel. Thankfully, with its improved combat and level design, Darksiders III more than delivers.
-
Nov 26, 2018Although Darksiders 3 is not a masterpiece like its predecessor, Gunfire Games have managed to create an almost fun and sometimes tough action-adventure game with reduced resources and well-sanctioned gameplay.
-
Nov 26, 2018what Darksiders III gets right - the combat system and that beautiful, intricate labyrinth design - it gets so right that it can hold its head high against the many peers that it has at this at this time of year.
-
Nov 26, 2018In the best way possible, Darksiders III is a game that feels restrained in its design. Its game structure, systems, and mechanics are all incredibly lean, providing just enough depth while also avoiding getting bogged down by bloat.
-
Nov 26, 2018With all of the efforts to resurrect this once dead and buried series I hope there's a chance to wrap it all up with Strife.
-
Nov 29, 2018Darksiders III suffers from some technical shortcomings but it presents an enjoyable experience at heart with a good story that sets the series on the right path for a finale that could be great if done probably.
-
Nov 26, 2018It has a slow start that won’t do much to sway anyone that’s not invested. If you’re willing to dig deep and stick with it, Darksiders III can be an extremely rewarding experience that has a lot to offer. It diverges from the first two games enough to feel interesting, but retains a distinct look and feel that fans of the series will instantly be familiar with.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III brings the best from the previous games as the story is good, the world is diverse, and the design is detailed. Unfortunately, its emphasis on difficulty doesn’t match with the promise of controlling Fury, a powerful rider of the Apocalypse. If you have to avoid even the lowliest enemies because they do so much damage, how can you ever bring about the end of the world?
-
Nov 26, 2018More than a tribute to the first two games, Darksiders III creates its own identity. More demanding, but also more rewarding, it improves the formula in almost every compartments. Sadly, it lacks the epic breath of its predecessors.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders 3 does a lot right but suffers from some technical issues that hold it back from greatness. Nevertheless, the fantastic exploration, great character designs, fun combat, and excellent writing help it outshine some of its faults. Fans will definitely find that Gunfire Games have done a great job keeping the essence of the franchise alive.
-
Nov 26, 2018If Darksiders III spent a bit longer in development then it would have been almost on par with the previous games in the series. Its action is intense and the characters are phenomenal but the amount of glitches is definitely hard to ignore.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders 3 has all the elements to be one of the strongest hack and slash RPGs in the industry: a good story, an effective combat system and a memorable universe, but the real issues in the technical section and the problems that it hauls affects to the gaming experience in an important way, leaving us with a title with many expectations but one that does not reach the height of the adventures of War or Death.
-
Dec 21, 2018Although it may feel slightly old-fashioned at times, those who enjoyed the original games will find lots of love here.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 12, 2018A formulaic adventure lifted by some fantastic design, then brought down to Earth by bugs and technical limitations. Still, there’s great fun to be had in Darksiders III if you can overlook its shortfalls. [Issue#157, p.86]
-
Dec 3, 2018The return of the horsemen delivers an entertaining if challenging action adventure. Some beautiful environments and fun enemy design help keep it engaging as you play but Darksiders’ third outing is ultimately forgettable.
-
Dec 2, 2018Gunfire Games should be proud of making a game where literally fighting Pride feels as silly and awesome as the painted cover of a vintage Ozzy Osbourne LP. Toss the horns and bring on the next horseman’s ride.
-
Nov 27, 2018At its core, Darksiders 3 is a good game. Its combat and story do justice by the series, and even with its flaws it provides enough to keep longtime fans and newcomers alike invested. So long as players can have some patience for the game’s technical issues, they’ll find plenty to enjoy in this title.
-
Nov 27, 2018A bit of a technical mess, but Darksiders III manage to entertain, mainly thanks to a great combat system, and well-designed bosses.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III is a good action-adventure game that has the potential to become a great one if Gunfire Games can get it to run more smoothly. Fury is a delight to play and easily stands alongside War and Death. Some clever twists point to a very interesting fourth game, but that’s if Gunfire is given the chance. For fans of Zelda, Dark Souls, or Castlevania, there is plenty to enjoy here, and longtime Darksiders fans can be at ease knowing the series is in very capable hands.
-
Nov 26, 2018Despite an intriguing story and excellent character development, dull visuals and technical gremlins make Fury's journey a solid, if unspectacular entry into the Darksiders series.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders 3 feels like coming home for fans, and combat is a blast - but it can be hard to appreciate the good when dealing with a laundry list of technical stumbles.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III is a straightforward action game that isn't afraid to throw some serious old-school challenges at you.
-
Nov 26, 2018On one hand, it feels just like the previous two games albeit with a much better combat system and some fantastic encounters. On the other, much like Darksiders II, it’s trying too many things at once and comes off as having an identity crisis. Without a doubt, though, Darksiders III is easily better than Darksiders II, and that’s worth celebrating.
-
Nov 27, 2018Darksiders is back, but unfortunately this third game in the series suffers from an identity crisis. The unique world is still a lot of fun to explore, though in trying to copy the Dark Souls formula, Darksiders III has lost track of what made the previous games special.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III will go down as the black sheep of the franchise. While the core gameplay itself is fun and it does a good enough job streamlining things with a more interesting cast of characters, it all just comes across as a bit too by-the-numbers to turn heads and doesn’t push boundaries enough to really stand out. If it weren’t for the technical issues this could be more highly-recommended, but as it stands, only die-hard fans should consider checking this one out.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III feels like it was too ambitious for it's new home. With sky-high goals, the game misses its target by far and suffers from plenty of technical problems. Only the most hardcore fans of the IP may enjoy this sequel and can close their eyes to its many problems.
-
Nov 29, 2018Darksiders 3 could have done so much more for the franchise as they branched into the Souls-like style of gameplay, however, frame-rate problems, long load times, outdated graphics, and the kind of bugs that shouldn’t be a problem anymore coupled with a lacking narrative and shoe-horned character development left me disappointed. I wanted to get pulled into this world once more, but instead, I was left wanting to get out.
-
Dec 6, 2018Severe performance problems and a misguided implementation of Souls mechanics in Darksiders 3 tarnish an otherwise perfunctory, but at least occasionally enjoyable return to one of last generation's better action series.
-
Nov 29, 2018Darksiders III is a slight change of pace for the series which succeeds in certain areas whilst failing quite badly in others. The camera is terrible and there are plenty of bugs, but the combat is rewarding and exploring areas with new abilities will keep more forgiving players entertained.
-
Nov 29, 2018Fury's adventure doesn't come close to those of her brothers. The game is entertaining, but is feels linear. The fights are challenging but on the other hand the puzzles aren't. Still the game is a fun entry in the franchise, but not the best.
-
Nov 26, 2018When viewed against the other two games in the series, Darksiders III is a disappointment. While I feel the gameplay is harder than it needs to be, I’m more concerned that the product seems half-broken in a lot of places. This is an upsetting follow-up to a great series and it deserves better.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders III offers a good story that fans will surely appreciate. But it feels like the game is coming from the last generation of consoles, both in terms of technology and design.
-
Nov 26, 2018Ridiculous performance problems that I experienced only help compound a package that is enjoyable yet ultimately underwhelming.
-
Nov 26, 2018It’s a good game on its own merits, but pales just a bit when compared to its forebears; the added Dark Souls combat mechanics aren’t a problem, but what feels like slight moves away from the Zelda-esque puzzle solving and Metroidvania-style exploration are noticeable.
-
Nov 26, 2018Beneath the mountain of bugs, shoddy design and inconsistent performance, there’s a genuinely good adventure waiting to be experienced in Darksiders III. Unfortunately, its numerous problems are more than just annoying in nature. They’re quite simply…apocalyptic.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders hasn't changed much since 2012. It's still a fun mishmash of genres with a great protagonist and undemanding combat systems, but it's a pity that it feels outdated compared to its genre peers and stumbles when injecting Souls-like sensibilities.
-
Jan 2, 2019An uninspired sequel that feels like it was rushed out the door.
-
Dec 4, 2018Darksiders 3 tried something new with the series yet again, but unlike it's two predecessors, this game fell flat. The only redeeming factor here is the combat, while the graphics and unfitting hard difficulty hurt it.
-
Nov 27, 2018A game out of time; it's wonderful for fans of the series to actually get their hands on this title that almost ended up on the trash pile with the death of THQ, but Darksiders III is so riddled with issues that they just can't be ignored. It feels like a game that was developed many years ago and then put on a shelf, finally now to be released. It feels worse than both previous entries and, worse, it feels more dated than the originals. It's so sad to see this franchise that held so much promise fall so far, and worse it seems unlikely to recover, either.
-
Edge MagazineJan 4, 2019If the idea was to get you into Fury's angry mindset, then job done - though in truth you more often feel like one of her lesser-known cousins, Boredom or Irritation. [Issue#328, p.112]
-
Dec 20, 2018All things said and done, Darksiders is a game that you might buy when it goes super cheap. Far from a triple A title, it lacks depth and sadly pretty much any real enjoyment playing it. If there is to be another game in this series they are going to have to do heaps to win me back. I’d give it a miss.
-
Dec 3, 2018Quotation forthcoming.
-
Nov 29, 2018The comeback of Darksiders is a let-down of apocalyptic scale. Its obvious some ideas are borrowed from a different darker game series, but Darksiders does not add any finesse to it. Plus, with so many bugs, it is simply not fun to play.
-
Nov 28, 2018As an odd, seemingly disconnected but nonsensically intertwined chapter in this franchise, it just falls flat. To play Darksiders III is to engage with a relic of a bygone era, when stiff mechanics and empty space defined the action-adventure genre.
-
Nov 26, 2018It’s just not sure what kind of game it wants to be. It either needed to fully commit to the style of past games or or embrace its new tactical combat wholeheartedly, and it’s disappointing to see it embrace neither. Far from being a triumphant return, Darksiders 3 is easily the low point for the series.
-
Nov 26, 2018It commits no cardinal sins but this belated return to the world of Darksiders comes across as shallow, frustrating, and disappointingly dull.
-
Nov 26, 2018It’s envious of better games like Dark Souls and Devil May Cry, lustful of the relevance those titles have, sloth-like in its combat, and too proud to delay itself in order to fix its glut of technical shortcomings. A better game is hidden somewhere within its depths, beneath its glaring issues that beg for more development time. But as it stands, it’s a hobbled, confused mess of a game that’s a victim of a lot of the sins it proclaims to be against.
-
Nov 26, 2018Darksiders 3 retrogrades on its predecessors with an unfocused approach that constantly clashes with itself. There are remnants of a good game here, buried within the vivacious combos of a combat style this game doesn't want to embrace. Unfortunately, it's buried far too deep to ever salvage.
-
Nov 28, 2018There's little to love about Darksiders III, even for longtime fans.
-
Nov 26, 2018The game is a nightmare to play through, with an unlikable protagonist, a chugging frame rate, and a mountain of bugs. It’s completely and utterly broken, but even when it works (which is almost never), it amounts to nothing more than a below average hack-and-slash with some decent puzzles.

Nov 26, 2018Darksiders used to be a damn good copy of Zelda. Now it’s a damn awful ripoff of Dark Souls. Yet another game that doesn’t understand why the Souls series is successful, THQ Nordic’s heartbreaking Darksiders III annoys and exasperates at every turn. On top of that, it’s a stripped down sequel, thoroughly reduced in scale compared to Darksiders II… and the first Darksiders, for that matter! It’s ugly, its performance is horrible, and goes so far in cloning Dark Souls it even starts stealing lore and terminology. Utter garbage.
