One of the more impressive aspects of this run out is the choices you're making without fully realising there were alternatives. I find myself looking back, ten hours in, with '20/20' vision and reflecting on the exact moment I made Jensen's life go to s***. So yes; it's a more adventurous game with a lot to explore and yet somehow manages to feel less than the sum of it's parts. Still a very smart game, and now you finally have more than one/two ways of getting rid of your big bad guys. Expand

I should not be able to knock out 5 people patrolling, leave the bodies visible (right next to where I am hiding) and not get caught. But, on the flip side, you make one mistake and the entire floor is on you and immediately knows where you are, even if you got rid of the closest guard before he called out or shot at you. Expand

That crook Sean Murray should take notes, THIS is how you create and market a game. Everything that was advertised is here and then some! The action sequences are phenomenal and the combat feels perfect whether you're playing the game stealth or going in guns blazing. It's been a terrible last six months for game and Deus Ex has broken the drought!

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 made my returning to this game, and I want to say the game is amazing. Awesome stealth gameplay (the best I've ever seen), nice visuals, good story. If you think the story is stale, then play Deus Ex 1 and Human Revolution. The only complain is that it's short compared to HR, and it will never get a sequel. That's the saddest part about this game.

Improves on Human Revolution in pretty much every way, though still never matches the wonder and mystery of the original Deus Ex - the game is never really more than the sum of its parts as a "Deus ex prequel with modern graphics" though, those parts are pretty good on their all! I appreciated the approach to the depth over breadth open world as Mark Brown has also highlighted.

I brought this new on release for my new pc and something about the gameplay flow early on didn't quite gel with me at that time and I put it down... 3 years later I returned only on the ps4 pro and something felt VERY right this time.... I really cannot understate the importance of just how well written this game is. The world, the setting, the interactivity.... everything breathes a level of intelligence that rewards your efforts. Sadly the gameplay itself feels flat in 2019 and the ai feels archaic and just barely functional at times. I really hope there is a sequel to this story and that a future effort could find the audience it deserves!

GREAT game! One of the best I've ever played! I'm using Ps4 pro, which allows 4k/HDR. Great sense of freedom, beautiful graphics, good responsive controls, amazing and complex story. The cities are alive and full of things to explore. The player is motivated to do all side missions and explore, it's real rewarding.

One of the few games where I do ALL the side quests, every time I play it. The DLCs are also enjoyable and offer more of the same quality.
The only real downside to this game is that the main story feels incomplete. It feels like it's waiting for a part 3 that we might never see. Which would be a shame because this series still has a lot going for it.

That ethos in games where the idea is great but the execution divides (see what I did there) players for what we get is much the summary of this game, shame as it really could excel if alterations were made.

Now the world in which it's set and the various ins and outs make exploring fun and enjoyable, and the movable objects to throw at people and how everyone one wants to kill you adds the sense of shooter free elements to spice up your play through.

However that is where the enjoyment of my time with the game peaked, putting it down in less than a few hours, why? Well the game hopes to be something that to me feels outdated, for example the limited inventory space, the way guns cost way too much, how after impaling 100 bullets into the mechs it still comes down to whipping out your stun gun and keeping momentarily inactive and how you think stealth is stealth when in fact your not stealthy at all.

Seems like a rant but the matter is that you play this game with the idea to get this game in this modern decade of games to realise it plays like a game made 10 15 years ago just with some updated graphics. The fact is this game is much on the same reasons I put Human Revolution down, too grindy and heavily depends on stealth even though that's not always possible 80% of the time.

Overall the game looks nice and plays to a degree of not bad, but the above mention additions and constant feeling like this is a game past it's prime defines that the idea of this game is done and dusted.

Literally every poster or sign has insane typos, grammar errors, non-sensical syntax, word by word google translations. The language is so bad even scam ads have better Czech. Local names, surnames and proper nouns make no sense. "Czech" people have "Russian" accent. Even things like license plates, political system of Czechia or landscape don't resemble Czechia at all.
The developers didn't give a single microscopic fůck to make it look decent. I know most people won't notice a thing but why set the game in Prague then?

Other than that, the game is quite good. I like that you can accomplish your objectives various ways (many paths, options, stealth vs loud approach, skills, etc.) The game also provides a lot of optional dialogue and side missions done well.

But the poor language was so omnipresent in the game there was no chance not to see it. And it damaged my experience severely.

You can always play it like an fps - take cover, use an aug or two and you will probably blast through the game within 10 hours or less. But by doing so you will probably be ignoring most of the carefully implemented ventilation shafts, hidden safes, alternative routes ang quite possibly also some easter eggs and other rewards. For me, a minimum of 2 playthroughs is necessary to experience everything. Because even the wittiest player can make a mess out of a situation with the outcome possibly blocking off alternative aspects. You can for example infiltrate optional sections of the gameworld before actually receiving the proper mission for it. And by doing so, completing the mission by skipping half of it. Every action has certain consequences. A different playstyle can obviously also produce a different outcome. Using diplomacy can be useful in obtaining allies rather than a gun-to-the-face approach. The diversity is what hooks me but could also be off-putting to other potential players.

Side missions are few compared to other RPG's, but all of them are lengthier and more thought through than your average fetch quest. Many of them are multi parted and actually require to do some investigation without direct guidance from the developer. Main missions are mostly lengthy and take place within or in the outskirts of Prague. So there isn't as much globe-trotting as there was in Human Revolution. Prague can also feel small at first, but when you decide to explore the world fully, you come to realize that it can be rather overwhelming even.

The interface is heavily inspired by the first Deus Ex, while the movement, augs and shooting follow the Human Revolution steps. It might take some getting used to, but the new approach can also bring back some heavy vibes from the first game. The game uses a heavily modified Human Revolution engine without the inherent yellow-ish piss filter, resulting in a much clearer and suitable look, as there is also daytime gameplay now (while Human Revolution took place almost exclusively at night). There is also a very agressive sharpening filter in place which results in some very sharp looking textures, but the effect could be off-putting for those who prefer a softer, more realistic look. Mankind Divided does run decently, a 30fps lock is mostly in place while traversing the cityscape, but occasional drops can occur when in combat.

Overall the game is a real treat to Deus Ex, cyberpunk and/or RPG fans. The adaptive playstyle approach can make it appealing for fans of other genres as well, but like I said, a one-sided approach can possibly decrease the overall value of the whole package. Without actually spoiling anything, the only real critique for me would be that the stakes of the overall story arc seem to be lower than in previous games. Nonetheless it's still a good combination of political agendas mixed with conspiracies.

Definitely a must-buy for a Deus Ex fan and I recommend others to consider it as well.

    Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Review
Alex the Kidd, Gamers of the Round Table

Square Enix’s follow-up to their 2011 title Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mankind Divided takes place two years after the events of its predecessor, and players take on the role of Adam Jensen once again in this cyber-punk RPG. With new augments, characters and story, does the latest Deus Ex title successfully develop its unique take on a dystopian future? or are players left with a lackluster sequel that can’t live up to its source material?

    The Good
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided lets the player choose their control scheme. Whether you want to go with their default layout, Human Revolution’s layout or a generalized First-Person-Shooter control set-up, the player is offered a variety of control load outs to accommodate individual play styles. The familiar RPG elements make a return, more polished and with a new “overload” system that requires the player to use. “experimental” augments at the cost of damaging your systems or permanently locking out original choices. This brings a new level of unique customization to the franchise and creates consequences for players who choose to use the new abilities. Mankind Divided improves upon the idea that you can “play your way” throughout the game, whether you want to tackle a mission guns blazing, or you want to infiltrate and never be seen. In the previous installment, players found they were hindered for choosing to play the game with stealth when it came to boss fights; Mankind Divided creates situations where you can attempt to take down any enemy through any means, without making the player feel like they made the wrong choice.
If you haven’t played Human Revolution since 2011, this game gives you the option to watch a compilation video to recap the previous game; narrated by Jensen, the twelve minute video covers all of the major plot point from Human Revolution, and is highly recommended if it has been almost five years since you played as Adam Jensen. Depending on your sound system, you may want to adjust your volume to put more emphasis on voice audio as the music score can drown out the narration (or enable subtitles before playing). The addition of the Deus Ex:
Universe companion app allows players to access behind the scenes content created by the developers and shows their insight into how they came to develop the word and characters of Mankind Divided; the app is free to download and allows players to scan in-game collectibles to access the content through their mobile device. This comes as a welcomed addition for players who immerse themselves in the world of Deus Ex and allows them to experience the creative process behind the game.
    The Bad
The Breach feature feels tacked on and out of place; the introduction to the game mode is immersive, yet the actual content feels forced and out of place. While the art direction for Breach can be praised, it comes off as an unnecessary online component. Players can compare their stats using leaderboards, but the game mode becomes quite repetitive, and is little more than a puzzle game. While you can earn praxis kits through Breach, it requires you to hold off from the main game for its benefits to having any weight.
The biggest issue with Mankind Divided is its waypoint system – or lack thereof. Players must always refer to the map to find their objective, and there are several times throughout the game where mission objectives are not indicated on the map at all. Having to look online to find out where to go next takes away from the immersive gameplay; one mission requires the players to locate two individuals, but only shows the location of one without indicating where the other is. While exploring Prague is fun, wasting time looking for your objective is far from it.
    Rating
9.5/10 - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided brings players back into the role of Adam Jensen in full force; while a few minor navigational mechanics that could use some fine-tuning, the game provides an immersive experience that allows you to handle any situation the way you want. This game not only follows up its predecessor, it stands on its own as an excellent video game. This is the quintessential espionage RPG gamers deserve.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Remember how this game was suppose to be the epic continuation to the ending debacle of the first game, that was otherwise an awesome Action-RPG?

    Yeah, it isn't.

The game lacks serious length, and while it tries to make up with it by using depth, I don't remember the feeling in it that the first game gave me- of being sunk deep into the world and feeling like my actions are Jansons'.
Yes, the graphics are crispier, and the choices and story is much, much clearer, but it feels like its been cut in a lot of ways that could've been expanded.
Why is there only one boss fight? Huh? What? WHY?
Later when I found out you can literaly kill him with a button press, and that there's a 'Bad' and 'Good' ending to the game, I was frustrated immensely.
Why do the developers think there should be a good ending to this game? This is Deux Ex, this is the game where no matter what you choose, somethingis bound to go bad eventually. Not to speak of the fact that it makes those who have no idea where they went wrong feel like **** after.
"Oh, I didn't find that hard to track item and used it in a specific way in a specific time?" or something, I didn't even check. Neither did I feel like the side-missions enhanced the story, like they would sometimes in the first game. They were something that tried to make Prague feel more expansive, and it ended up feeling tired and buggy. When a mission tried to be smart, it was vague.

I'm heavily disappointed in this game, but it's still a decent game to play if you have to check out the sequel. So there.

Both the elements of stealth and action are very satisfying. It's a great sequel in the aspects of sound, action, story, graphic, and more. I especially like the choices that I can make throughout the game. The alternatives make me feel like I'm in the game as a real character.

The ONE thing this game did right was stealth, in fact that about the only thing this game has going for it, you can find about 15 different ways to do the mission in stealth, theirs not even 15 missions in the stupid game. However, the few augments they add are not all that useful, and praxis kits are more plentiful than before. I've seen some reviews exploding at the game for microtransactions, but I didn't see one in my entire 40 hours of two playthroughs. Early in the game you are GIVEN TEN praxis points and if you're going sneaky that is literally all the points you'll ever need. I maxed out Jensen in less than a playthrough and a half. The biggest problem, the one that keeps this game from being a solid ten, is the obvious sequel baiting. The entire game builds up this underlying conspiracy, and never divulges a single thing about it. Where HR went through all these turns, maybe your boss is bad, maybe Megan is alive, the illuminati is real! Mankind Divided replays a couple of those but fails to wrap them up. It leaves room for an obvious third Jensen game, but it also leaves the player feeling somewhat hollow about the whole thing.

Honestly, the game is well worth the $60 if you liked Human Revolution.

Gameplay-wise, it is the best Deus Ex to date, improving upon almost every aspect of its predecessor. However, this could have easily been a 10 if not for the somewhat underwhelming story and micro-transactions.

It's still an overall good entry in the series. If I were to rank them from best to worst, this would fit in right in the middle, being better than Invisible War and The Fall,

Still, Prague is a ton of fun to explore and I spent most of a day breaking into apartments and looking for secrets. While Prague is a step up from something like Detroit or Hengsha, I can't help but think that I would have wanted another city to explore.

Graphics: Very pretty game, with the environments being extremely well done. But the lip syncing is awful (i urge you to use subtitles), and the non important NPCs have a glaring lack of detail compared to the important ones.

The story is disappointing, especially from what I expect from a Deus Ex game. But it still isn't terrible, and I think some comments here are a tad harsh on it.

Summary: If you got any enjoyment out of Human Revolution, then you owe it to yourself to check this game out at some point. For better or for worse, it's basically more of the same. Which is quite fine for me, since there aren't many games like Deus Ex on the market. I only wish there was more content.

The game is set after 2 years from Human revolutions plot line; involving the Aug incident when all augmented people went on a killing frenzy which was apparently the worst casualties in human history. Played out by the cooperation " The Illuminati" , You as Adam Jensen have to go deep into the city of Prague and figure their next move and stop them from achieving their goal.

    Pros:
-Variety of multiple choices of how to play through each mission type
-Robust Augmented Build with multiple advantages
-An in-depth story with multiple outcomes that changes each mission
-Voice acting is superb with a serious intake of Adam's rough cigarette voice
-A beautiful city to explore around in
    -Music is superb as well
    -Tighter and fluid gameplay
    Cons:
-Even with the voice acting being amazing and the graphics being great, the lip syncing is mediocre; sometimes even kung fu dubbing bad
-The city , though great and varied enough to look around in, is too small and with only one city to explore around, it feels like a step back from Human Revolution with it being in Detroit and Shanghai.

The ending is rushed and feels unsatisfactory. The AI and other bugs are also a little disturbing, they should have released a more polished game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Though the game doesn't have a true PVP multiplayer, the game is definitely worth getting if you are into stealth, shooting, exploration, detective work and a bit of story telling. The story is suited for more mature audiences. It contains themes about spying, double agents and political conspiracy. It is linked to the Deus Ex world if you haven't played the previous original Deus Ex on PC, it will be slightly confusing with some of the characters and plots, so you would need to use Wiki a bit.

There is a fantastic system of different dialogue choices to Bioware games such as Mass Effect but It has more of an effect on the future timeline than Mass Effect. The augmentation skill tree does offer new cool augmentations that are fun.

What I like about these games is there is absolutely no grinding involved. You will get experience points regardless of how you choose to do tackle a certain task. I much prefer the passive knock out no kill stealth approach.

Some people might not like the ending as it leaves you with many questions about Janus and the Illuminate, but it intentional and the beauty of that is that mentally and intellectually challenges you to deduce possible explanations or theories like a detective and encourage discussions in forum in regarding the many mysteries or questions left unanswered or undiscovered.

You can learn a lot about the minor or semi major subplots by hacking computers and reading notes is what makes this like a great detective/spy game.

Some might argue the story could have been more ambitious but people need to realise the illuminate is difficult to take down. Someone else is always a puppet of someone else.

There are mysterious subplots that It makes you wonder who is the mole in Taskforce 29 or who did an entire refit of the augmented Adam Jensen. There is a lot of layers in the game's story telling and the sides missions are chained so they are interesting. it's not one of those collect 10 of these and deliver to stupid side missions.

The graphics is definitely a level up from DE: HR. All in all it's shorter but higher quality game than HR. The game is highly polished and rarely is there a glitch or bug. The lighting is really good in the game too.

There is a pretty decent characteristics for all major characters and TF29 NPCs. You can see their personality differences shine. But I think there could of been more work done especially for character McCready and Miller. Perhaps a more reason to care for TF29 Director Miller a bit more.

The augmentation is pretty cool and the stealth take downs look pretty cool. I didn't use guns much besides the stun gun. But you can upgrade your guns with attachments or improving it's firing rate, accuracy or damage. But it's a bit hard to constantly use your abilities a lot with the limited energy bar, so you can only occasionally use it which does take the fun out of it if you decide to pursue a non stealth approach.

    Fantastic OST and dialogue.

The only negative thing I can say about this game is the lip syncing is bit out of wack and some of the body language is over exaggerated but these are trivial matters.

It's not without it's faults, some suspect lip syncing, dodgy character models and too many bugs/glitches (some often game breaking). Some would argue that the end comes far too soon and is far to abrupt just as the story starts getting tasty, although I feel it does lead well to potentially (and surely) a third installment of Adam Jensen's cyberpunk conspiracy ridden saga. The ending is left opened for another Deus Ex and a sense of an uncertain future. Despite some of it's flaws, the overall open world of Prague and different approachs to each mission along with the vast exploration and engaging storyline make this an essential purchase who like a bit more than your average shooter. The story of the game isn't as long as the first, but there are so many side distractions that will keep you busy for a much longer amount of time. The atmosphere of the story is really enjoyable as there is this tension between augmented people and "natural" people due to the "incident". The downside I'm really experiencing with the game is that the lip syncing is off when everyone talks.

If you enjoy a game that lets you have a variety on how to take on tasks, free-roaming (to an extent), and finding hidden rooms and items this will be worth your money.

If you are the type that just rushes the story and screams "done!" and shelves it, or you have a strong dislike about micro-transactions (which seems to be an alarming large amount of people) then I would skip this one.

Ok, guys, get ready for the mix feelings. I know the Deus Ex franchise, and I`ve played the original Deus Ex, as well as for the previous game in this series the Human Revolution. I`ve beaten this game two times already, INCLUDING the hardest difficulty, with the two styles of gameplay (the Rambo and the Stealth styles), so here are my thoughts for you. I`ll list all, so you can decide.

    The Cons:

    - This game is not balanced between the two styles of gameplay. If you play the Stealth you will get around 110% more XP reward for everything you do, and most Jensen`s Augmentations (including the new ones) are way more biased toward Stealth. Thus, if you like to shoot your way into missions, be prepared to get fewer rewards.
    - There is too much Hack in this game. Hacking was always a thing for Deus Ex, since the first, but this game overdue the amount of Hack. You can easily find codes around, and new entrances to bypass but are just a lot of hacking.
    - I didn`t find the story as compelling in this game that it was on Human Revolution. I`m not even comparing to the original, because the original is the best.
    - I get that Augmented people are hated now, because of the incident from the last game, but is just too much. Around 80% of people you talk are complete a**ho***. Like. Every. People. You. Talk. This discourages you to talk to NPCs because you just had enough of rude people.
    - Breach. This is a parallel game mechanics, not related to the main game. HERE, is where they inserted the microtransaction. Breach is just disgusting. Its ugly is not fun, is annoying, has no glory at all. It's just some c**p they inserted to choke coins out of you. I can even begin to explain how dreadful this is. And this c**p has 4 trophies for the Platinum. Argh.

    The Good:

    - Like the previous, the combat is great.
    - Jensen`s new Augmentations are neat. Really, they are neat.
    - There are tons of ways to do a mission, so this game gets a 10 in this. You can completely choose your way. Dozens of ways to get around in both Stealth and Combat. Thus, you will enjoy exploring this world.
    - Here is the best part of this game (for me): The Sidequests. These sidequests are masterpieces. They are UNIQUE, INTERESTING, EMOTIONAL. Really, this is the best part, do all of them.
    - The graphics are awesome, the texture is well made.
    - The major NPCs have interesting personalities and the Social Aug has some utility now, in contrast to the previous entry in the game.

I recommend you play the game because it's good. But you will face some problems. Breach is a pathetic excuse of parallel mechanics, stay away, but the main game is pretty good. The only problem is the unbalanced reward system for Rambo and Stealth players in terms of gameplay. And the lack of deep story, because this time it feels too shallow about 70% of the game. Nevertheless, it's not a bad game, is still really enjoyable for the good mechanics and fun missions.

However, this game is not perfect and I saw some weaknesses as well. I found a lot of unused potential. There is so much data in this game and work from the developers but at the same time, it's possible to complete the game in a few hours. I found also a lack of guidance regarding the different augmentations Jensen can use.

But overall, I keep good memories of this game I completed last winter. Maybe, some day, I will do another playthrough on stealth mode (I did my playthrough with guns and by killing directly my ennemies)

    Very interesting game indeed..
What I found most interesting, is that it's basically every style a game can be pushed all into one game, like the stealth aspects, of hitman, enemy AI as a hitman plus call of duty game, with a level design of alien isolation, and gears of war, the hacking of watchdogs, dialogue options of Detroit become Human, and side mission and save aspect of skyrim.

The game it self has many pros to it including.

    Fun story and character development.
    Weapon selection.
I especially liked the hacking aspect of the game.
And most of all the final boss of the game. Victor, a very good antagonist, and particularly a nasty boss to deal with.

There's a few cons about this game, such as.

    Rushed storyline.
The combat could be updated due to uncomfortable combat at close ranges such as, near walls, vents, and in small rooms.

    Replay value: 9/10, I'm glad there's a ng+ option

Difficulty: 7/10 when played on normal it delivers a good enough challenge for me to enjoy.

Overall I rate a 9/10, fun game to play, and add to my collection, would defiantly recommend.

People reviewing the game poorly who have obviously not played it simply for this reason just come off sounding like whiny, uninformed nitwits.

Great game, better than the last in just about every way except the story is a bit smaller scale. Better character development and a more immersive world though. Still has some of the old frustrations too like an obtuse control scheme and some frustrating bugs that will hopefully be ironed out soon.

If you have ever been to Prague there is a land mark bridge which you can see in the distance in the game but can't get to it. Where is the astronomical clock? Where is anything that would give me the feel of being in Prague? The train stations are so small and this is a Major city in Future Europe, and the train stations are so pointless, just walk around, its quicker. It just feels like a generic city that could be anywhere in Europe, and this is just lazy game design.

The game lacks real atmosphere, I feel HR had better immersion but was way too linear. I played through on the hardest difficulty available and it was too easy, the AI are dumb and praxis kit are plentiful, so much so that I had too many augs by the end. Everything is just a little to convenient in this game, there just happens to be vents where I need to go but nowhere else, weakened walls right where I need to go, heavy boxes blocking a path, you guessed it, right where I need to go. This makes it feel like a dumbed down experience that doesn't give the player the feeling that they are finding new things in the world, it is so artificial, so closed off and makes the player experience the sense of a mouse trapped in a maze. Wait till it is about $10 as that is about all it is worth with the very poor lazygame design.

DE:MD is to 2016 what Crysis was to 2007. Even on lower settings, this game looks phenomenal. People are stuck in their thinking about how settings relate to graphical power - they assume that Ultra should be playable at over 60fps as long as you use a top-end card. Normally, even I would expect my GTX 980 to run most games on Ultra without a problem. However, this game recommends High if you have a 4GB GTX 980 card. Not VERY High, not Ultra, just High. This has caused a lot of upset - which is fine if High looked terrible, but it doesn't. It looks better than nearly every other game out there right now.

Those with £5000 gaming rigs are finding they can't hit a steady 60fps with everything turned up full, and it's not because the game is poorly optimised - on the contrary, compared to most other games, this game both looks and outperforms them at the right settings. It's important to remember that Ultra is not meant to be achieved by today's hardware; it is meant to be a setting that will still look good even in 5 years time, when technology has improved even further. This is a way of future-proofing this game's graphical potential for many years to come.

So when they tell you to use High or Medium, rest assured that the game will still look amazing by today's standards, it'll just look even better compared to the advancements in a few years - games in 2021 will only then be looking as good as DE:MK does on Ultra settings. It would be no different if they simply locked the V.High and Ultra settings and unlocked them in a patch in 2019. People would think, "Wow, they made so many improvements 3 years after the game released in this patch!" when the truth would be that the improvements were always there, they just weren't available until then.

I'm loving this game and it's a definite 9/10 for me

I started with the provided 12 minute video for some backstory and left more confused than when I started it. I heard a bunch of names, but it was obviously missing any sort of real context. That's not the games fault though.

From there I started the game on normal mode. What felt like a couple dozen cut scenes later, I was finally ready for action. Things started out ok, but then quickly fizzled. I took the stealth approach, but no matter how hard I tried, or how many steps I took to remain unseen the erratic AI would find me. Often they would ignore their cone of influence and even though the map showed them looking one way, they would see me in the other direction, even behind cover. And even when I would stealthily remove a guard from the game, he would somehow still be able to alert every available guard in the known universe to descend upon me. And when that happened, it was best to just stand still and die because no amount of stealth countermeasure would get me out of that situation. And why in the hell do the takedowns have a reload timer on them? For a cyborg, Jensen sure in limited.

Aside from ignoring their cones, the enemies were awful looking. Zooming in for a headshot, the textures on the enemies were something I would expect to see from an early PS3 game. In fact, aside from some of the environments, the game looks terrible altogether. All of the character models and textures again look like there were just ported over from an early PS3 game. Almost as if they had this game started for a PS3 release years ago, but didn't take the time to update the graphical portion for PS4.

Controls are horrible. I realize they may be ported over from previous games, but that doesn't excuse the poor and unfriendly placement of buttons. Any gamer knows that FPS games have a general button scheme to follow. Not here. Firing is the only normal button on the controller, everything else has been repurposed for something else entirely. I get that Jensen has a lot of augmentations, but that doesn't excuse such a sloppy execution. Things could have easily been more refined and wheel selections should have been reserved for usable powers, not weapon and consumable selection. It bogs down the flow of the game.

The game also lacks any sort of tutorial or real explanation of anything. Upon finally finishing the first mission, I was put into my apartment with no real indication what I should be doing aside from some arbitrary waypoint marker. Picking up consumables only led to more questions because a popup told me I could craft things, but didn't explain how. I don't expect to be led, but if it's important enough to mention, I'd like to know the basics. And that's how the game continued to approach things: You can do THIS, but we won't bother you with details.

Add to all that possibly one of the worst protagonists in the history of games. Jensen is godawful. His voice grating to say the least. He's meant to sound like some kind of brooding anti-hero badass, but he just sounds like a lifeless monotone placeholder. He sounds more like a chainsmoking 50 year old trying to talk in a nursery full of sleeping babies rather than some kind of action hero. That kind of character should be left in the PS1/PS2 era where it belongs.

The game could be good. But it's not. It's very apparent that it's a quickly thrown together sequel to cash in on the fanboy hype and nothing more. It boils down to being a perfect hybrid of the first Mass Effect and Alpha Protocol, but it has none of the enjoyment of Mass Effect and none of the tongue-in-cheek guilty appeal of Alpha Protocol. It could have been an enjoyable future espionage game filled with intrigue and story, but ends up being a hollow, narrative heavy cash-in that leaves you wondering what the fanbase is smoking.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All round I felt a bit like everything was done just a bit worst than the previous installment of Deus ex.
From stealth to combat, everything seemed not as engaging as before. The character pool (NPC's) was as shallow as a newborn baby's bath tub. Where was the intriguing characters you hated to face because of difficulty, but now the game feels empty without it. The choices I made at the split option parts of the game lead to the end of the game just being a news report of all the choices I made. I found the trip switch for the big guy at the end so even that battle was just choosing the menu option and bam the game is done. I never had a need to use any of my guns. I just used the tranquilizer pistol. I had not used any other weapon to complete the game.

What I liked was the feel of Prague, the environment was dark and felt like the not so distant future. (Just parked cars nobody apparently drives in the future). Side missions was okay but not like in Witcher 3 were every mission felt different.

I gave a 7 out of respect of what this game should have been.
    In reality i feel sad.

I like the improvements to the AI. They seem quite more reactive and I was even surprised on the first level when I busted out my sniper for a long distance shot. The bad guy was looking in my direction. I'm so used to dumbed down AI I figured I was far enough away he wouldn't notice me despite looking right at me. However, this was not the case. He spotted me from way over on the other side of the level because of proper line of sight logic. That is refreshing to see and I wonder if the AI improves even more at a higher difficulty. That being said, stealth take-downs are still handled in the weird way from the first game where you're taken back to a 3rd person perspective for an extensive take-down scene. It's very un-stealthlike and kind of breaks the immersion factor.

As per any AAA title, the graphics and voice work are top notch. Environments are immersive and full of details, but the levels are still kind of static like the first game. The art direction in this series is fantastic. However, the game feels too short and I see there is already talk of DLC coming out. Seems as though they left some important story moments in order to cash in on the DLC. It's unfortunate but that's the state of the industry these days. In the end though, I got what I wanted. More Deus Ex!

If you have the patience for it though, I would wait for the inevitable complete addition which would come with the aforementioned DLC on disk at a reasonable price. I for one did not have the patience but I don't regret it since I'm thoroughly enjoying the game. Also, Breach mode is not to shabby and merits mentioning. It will extend your time with the game a little for sure. This game is solid.

    - I loved the atmosphere in the game, the natural people v.s. augs in a world where the augs get discriminated constantly.
    - Graphics where fine.

    Cons:
    - Story way too short. When i look back at Human Revolution, this story including all its side-missions is at max 20% of how big HR was.
    - It would have been nice to see some old key characters in the game, like Megan Reed, Pritchard, but none of that.
    - The playfield is way too small, especially compared to HR. There's a metro/subway system that you can use to roam through the city, but the city itself is so small that the metro/subway system is completely useless, you can walk from point A to point B within 10 seconds.
    - Apart from better graphics, no real innovations have been made compared to HR. Altough I had the ability to try the new 'experimental' augs, i never really bought them as Praxis are rare to find and i had the feeling they where quite useless.

In general, my biggest disappointment is the story and with that, it's length.

Mankind Divided is a first person shooter slash stealth game that takes place 2 years after human revolution…
If you haven’t played that game there is a recap video, but honestly human revolution is the much better game, so I’d recommend playing it first either way
Very early in the game there’s a terrorist bombing.. You spend the rest of the game trying to get to the bottom of this and prevent future terror attacks…
To bring peace to the division of augs and naturals
this bombing though messes with your gear...
You go get it fixed and it’s discovered that you’ve had more cool gadgets under the hood that you didn’t know about…
These new added abilities are awesome, but they come at a price...
Too many active will cause over heating, so you have to pick and choose... activate 1 and deactivate another... and much like every other ability and upgrade in the game you have to spend praxis points which are awarded by leveling up in game or by straight up buying…
The microtransactions are buried, but there for those that want to max Jensen out early on…
This is still Deus Ex… theres 17 main story missions and 12 side missions…
The main story alone takes about 8 hours to complete… And while I personally found the story here much more intriguing than human revolution… The gameplay overall is miles worse...
There is absolutely no depth here that made human revolution such a magic experience...
    The world here isn’t alive…
Dialog choices seem to hold no weight, and the worst offense of all is that all sense of freedom from the past game has been removed…
I’m a very aggressive player... and while yes, you can definitely play this game like a first person shooter…
The game is almost designed completely against you…
This time around instead of levels being designed for drop of a dime change of plan like getting detected.. It clearly wants you to try your hardest to sneak around…
This is apparent with how quickly your energy drains when you use a perk…
Your awesome new armor, or going invisible, lasts for a good half a second before your energy runs out... and theres hardly any biocells laying around or crafting parts to make one on the fly.. Making the system feel nearly useless for anything other than take downs…
The game wants you crawling through vents instead of using all of the cool toys…
There are also so many road blocks here that didn’t exist at all in the past game…
In human revolution you could beat the entire game with only level 1 hacking as the game kept the hacking of story related doors simple…
Here, they force you to pour your upgrades into hacking with level 2 and 3 locked doors after locked doors…
Almost in a way encouraging those micro transactions for more skill points to pour there if you’ve ignored it, or to pour them into skills that actually compliment your playstyle…
There’s also really no cool open areas…
The game from start to finish feels like you’re walking around hotels… going from room to room…
There is no attention to detail here…
At least not up to the standard other deus ex games have created…
This feels almost like ubisoft annual spin off title than a proper sequel…
The story kept me going, and this is still a good game if you ignore the fact it’s supposed to be a deus ex game…
Deus ex, isn’t hacking and augmented abilities…
It’s a deep and detailed world… which is completely lacking…
A surprise and welcomed addition this time around is a very cool breach mode which acts as a puzzle platformer, where you work with a hacking group to collect data…
You run around using the same skills you do in the main game and also unlocks new skills and weapons as you progress through each increasingly tougher level…
Definitely some brain teasers here and I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would…
It’s almost a bonus game in itself
All in All Mankind Divided is a decent game fans will play and at least mildly enjoy either way... It just doesn’t live up to its series standard and not something I could recommend for anyone that isn’t already a fan…
I give Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
    a 7.5/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Much Better than the First one, Graphics , gameplay, story , and characters ( especially Adam Jensen with his personality better explored). This is a game where curious and creative players will feel at home. Do you need to go through a room full of enemies? Go to the closest air duct... if you can't reach it, MAKE A cardboard boxes ladder , OR if you have adequate augmentation put a refrigerator next to it... OR just hack the closest door, or hack some assassin drone and let it do your job. NO? Then just be a cyberninja and kill all the enemies before they know it... too difficult? Then just shoot everyone. I am waiting for some DLCs !! Expand

Gameplay -- 9.5/10. Though I played it pretty much only with batman vision and dash abilities, so always-low-energy wasn't a problem for me. For more action-oriented walkthrough it might be an issue, but I really had a blast. Mechanics are solid, level design is great, I definitely enjoyed it.
Story -- 6/10. It lacks both in story and delivery. The whole thing feels pretty underwhelming.

I would love it as dlc or smth, but I want globe-scale conspiracies and confrontation with real bad guys in my Deus Ex, not... this. Ending comes right out of the blue and you're just sitting there thinking: "Whoa, that's... that's it?". Also, the storytelling is weird: characters that are important are never introduced, a miriad details you can only guess, the overall feel like you've started playing someone else's save from the middle.
Overall I had a great time, I just wish I had more of the actual story, and higher stakes conflict.

First and foremost, the game has A LOT of content which I feel we don't get much anymore from games nowadays. Everywhere I went in the game, there was almost always a side mission or place to loot, so Mankind Divided definitely delivered on the amount of content. I really love the fact that you have so many different ways to do things, and of course you can either go stealthy or loud. The dialogue in the game makes sense and actually has a lasting effect on the story and NPCs, versus other games (like Fallout 4 in my opinion) that did not. I like the array of augmentations for Adam, and the gunplay felt smooth as well. I thought the main story was very interesting, but on a negative note, felt that it could of been developed a bit more. When I finished the game, I felt disappointed because I felt that that it ended very abruptly, and so I definitely feel they could have expanded on the main story more. I also did not like the main/final boss. In fact, it didn't even feel like a boss fight, but rather a fight with just a slightly stronger "normal" enemy. It wasn't very challenging or fun, and I didn't get that satisfaction from beating a boss when it was over. The game also did have some framerate drops here and there, but nothing too significant in my experience (I did play the game on the PS4). I don't know how Mankind Divided compares to Human Revolution, since I didn't play the previous game, but in my opinion, I thought Mankind Divided was a pretty good game, and compared to some other games that have come out recently, is definitely worth it. First I will start with the positives of the game. The first few hours of the game are excellent, lots of fun learning how the game is best played (stealth). People who are use to playing stealth will feel like a stealth god easily finding shortcuts and taking out foes with the overpowered augmentations. And that's it for positives, yes there is not many.
Now for negatives and there is a lot. The gameplay and mechanics to me seem old and outdated, nothing new, just the same old. The environment design seems lazy and boring, lacks immersion, boring npc's and story characters. Going full stealth in this game makes the game way to easy.
The enemy AI is awful, really awful. For example there is a boss fight and all I did was hide on the other side of a wall I smashed. I would crouch right in front of the boss and he couldn't see me, wow did it make that fight easy. But the most worst thing this game did was the story. What a awful ending. The way it ended made the game feel very short, like this game was suppose to be an expansion for Human Revolution. The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine expansion had way more meaningful content than this full priced game.
So in summary I give this game a 5/10 (average). Its definitely not worth the full price amount. I would say to most gamers to wait for while when the price drops by half, but by then with all the other games coming out in the last quarter this game is going to forgettable.

    +Great for stealth
    +Amazing augmentations
    +Exploration is rewarding
+CIty is well-realised and quite beautiful graphic

    -Just 'one' boss
    -Some mistake designs

It's great RPG and sleath game, but it could have been better and longer than original.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided suffers from a short story. The game's hub world in Prague is visited more than once, and each time the player will notice how devoid of ideas the game actually has. Maybe my game of the year. Its complex, nice stealth mechanics. Augmentations are fun, interesting story. Awesome cyberpunk universum. Beautiful soundtrack. And Adam Jensen is one badassmo......er. Its addictive. I forget my time when i play it. I feel like im in prague when i play it.

The voice acting and synchronisation (in german) is not the best. The only negative i have to say.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a game that looks good and has solid game play. The only issue I have with the game is the story. I"m not saying the game has a bad story, I actually like the whole conspiracy and the bias towards augs going on. It's unique and interesting.
However, by the time I finished the game I was only left wanting more and thinking this can't be over! The game felt short

However, by the time I finished the game I was only left wanting more and thinking this can't be over! The game felt short to me and even though I had over 15 hours invested because I did all of missions, side quests, etc. it became really repetitive doing the same thing over and over again. It's a shame really because the first few hours are really great but then the story just flattens out and the ending just seems like it wasn't finished or was cut to sell us back in some DLC package. Why are some developers doing this? The game also leaves more plot holes than it answers.
Back to the Withcer 3, at least that game is nice to look at and has an amazing story that is complete start to finish!!

Quick note, the music in this game is really great, it's a shame that the developers didn't spend more time on making the world seem more alive and interactive.

Just screams consoleport. Alot of bugs, getting stuck in doorways, can't go over low edges like curbs when crouched, not climbing when prompted to. Crashed once with a high-end computer, lackluster plot

Deus ex MD in a nutshell:
A.J. : Ok...I'm going after the real enemy now guys!
    THE END.
    WTF?
One time use DLC with seasonal pass.
Free DLC requires an account to be made with SE and is one time use.
Never buying from Edios after 2 abominations in a row.

Yes there is a cash shop, but it is for the breach mode, which is a game mode designed for people who like online leaderboards, and does not negatively affect the campaign at all. In fact you can earn items like piraxis just for playing breach, and then carry them over to your inventory in the campaign. I have only played the breach for about 30mins, I would say it's a decent mode, with a nice concept, but can be completely ignored.

That said, from my perspective, the developers have, in Mankind Divided, flawlessly merged present-gen resources with a style of gameplay and atmosphere that really, honestly does approach the level of perfection that the original game manifested way back when it came out. I mean, I can't say enough good things about this game. It's beautiful. It's rich and immersive. One of my favorite things is the way they weave themes and characters from the original game into this prequel. They did an impressive job paying homage and interweaving the narratives between games. It would be interesting to see what the developers might be able to come up with next if they were to look at creating another sequel that, maybe say, coincides and overlaps with the timeline and events of the original game? Or maybe another prequel that occurs only *just* before the Deus Ex narrative? Or, maybe even better, a prequel to Invisible War? Something five or fifteen years after the Collapse, with the arcologies maybe having been only just finished, and with universal ammo not having been invented quite yet (lol)? So many possibilities. Mankind Divided isn't quite the Deus Ex game of our dreams, but it's a strong step in that direction. There's a high emphasis on choice and experimentation, killer side quests, and dense, detailed levels that are a joy to explore. With momentum pushing towards the next chapter in the story, here's to hoping it won't be another five years before we see Adam Jensen again.

Mankind Divided continues the legacy of its predecessors with a high quality experience on all fronts. It may have an underwhelming ending but nevertheless it provides engaging gameplay with either a stealthy or all-guns blazing approach, it provides a beautiful and detailed Prague and it manages to maturely project the prevalent racists issues of our society to its dystopian world.

Mankind Divided takes all the great ideas from Human Revolution and adds to them, making it just as good as the prior Deus Ex.
