God Eater 2 is a good game, with the gameplay mechanics of Monster Hunter or Freedom Wars and can be a good substitute until a new game of those franchises. There is the burden of being a remaster of a handheld game, and what it implies in camera and visuals.

It gives you everything you need to feel like a Monster Hunter if you don’t own a Nintendo System. Unfortunately the mobile origins of the series shine through at all ends, while I have to think long and hard to remember a game that would have benefited from a better tutorial more so than Rage Burst.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst feels like a game that was made in a rush with no real purpose, instead of having a great story to tell, giving the player simple mechanics, nice pacing and an easy to understand character development. Because of all this the game clearly comes across as something you should not play. Give it a chance if you really love the franchise or did not play God Eater Resurrection, otherwise, just wait for it to change its price tag.

Even considering this was a portable-first, God Eater 2 in its PS4 edition remains a rather unspectacular game. But, its brilliance lies in its core, the deep gameplay system with numerous weapon modifiers. It's not for everyone, though it doesn't need to be.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst feels like a wasted opportunity. Although it offers more of that frenetic and savage gameplay from its predecessor, its poor presentation and lack of innovations turns this game in one without any sense of surprise. Unless you are willing to play more from God Eater, we suggest you to stick with playing the remake of God Eater Resurrections.

Whilst the generic plot and outdated graphics bring down the game somewhat, overall the game has proven itself to be worth the wait, a highly enjoyable experience with a great co-operative mode and one which will keep you hooked for hours. Coupled with the generous bonus of the original game on top of that, Namco Bandai have provided great value for money in this package and one that comes highly recommended.

Repetitiveness is undoubtedly God Eater 2: Rage Burst’s biggest issue. The mission structure is repetitive, the basic combat system is repetitive, and even your actions within the hub are repetitive.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst proves that without a shadow of a doubt, the series deserves a home on the console. The great depth, compelling combat and interesting enemies provide an fantastic counterpoint to the Monster Hunter brand, while also providing an exciting new sandbox for players to explore. Unfortunately, there are plenty of shortcoming associated with mediocre port work that prevent this iteration from fulfilling its full potential.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is a flawed but ultimately fun and fast-paced monster hunting game that provides some of the most extensive customization options this genre has to offer.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is a remastered version with a few add-ons to the original game published on PSP and Vita back in 2011. It is a hunting action RPG with an interesting backstory and a lot of pathos.

Despite offering very little in the way of genuinely new content, God Eater 2: Rage Burst stands comfortably as one of the finest Monster Hunter Clones on the market.

It is far superior to its original PSP version, but it only takes a small step as a sequel. The series needs to take a leap if it wants to compete. Fans should definitely pick this up, but newcomers would be better off testing the waters with God Eater Resurrection first.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst provides hours upon hours of monster slaying fun, but only if you have the patience to wrap your head around its overwrought progression systems. Once you've broken through the initial slog and you're confident in your God eating abilities, you'll find an addictive action RPG that's enjoyable as both a snack and as a three-course meal.

God Eater 2 is a very solid Action RPG, one of those that are becoming rare to find. Even though it has its shortcomings, it still offers a very enjoyable experience.

God Eater 2 is a sort of Monster Hunter with a permanent easy mode activated, drenched in a j-rpg sauce. Technically it's a poor porting from the PS Vita version, but it can provide enough fun to lovers of the genre.

A good action RPG with a great customization system and fun battles. But God Eater Rage Burst can be repetitive and it has a poor technical section.

A rather disappointing sequel, but still a decent entry for those who want to try out the “hunting” game genre.

While it sports an incredibly deep combat system, fun and complex hunting gameplay, and a lot of personality, it suffers from a lot of technical issues, repetitive grinding, and a cliched story that follows a two dimensional cast.

Sure, I was constantly fighting both the controls and the camera while also battling Aragami, but it wasn't enough to ruin the experience. 'God Eater' is begging for an iteration developed for consoles from the ground-up, so hopefully that will happen soon. Until then, fans will have to settle for a serviceable port that sadly isn't optimized for the PlayStation 4.

Unfortunately God Eater 2: Rage Burst just drips of mundanity. Boring combat, characters, environments... It is not a bad game, just not a particularly good one.

God Eater 2 Rage Burst is quite a good Monster Hunter Like, with good gameplay and RPG mechanics, all that in an original universe... but its graphics and sound are really bad.

While I do think I’d have been slightly less burnt out if I’d played it in smaller doses over a longer period (and finishing its prequel beforehand didn’t help either, I’m sure), God Eater 2: Rage Burst proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there really can be far, far too much of an entirely okay thing.

Nintendo fans, out ofFor anyone interested in the monster-hunting genre and is considering buying this game, ignore the negative scores. Nintendo fans, out of salt, have decided to bash this game. I have seen the Nintendo community encouraging members to give this game a bad review without even knowing a thing about this series. Truly pathetic and a disservice to the hard work that has gone into this game. The following top reasons:

    1) It wasn't released on any of their consoles.

    2) It is superior to any of the Monster Hunter titles thus far.

    3) is has been far more creative and original than anything MH, and while it doesn't have maybe the depth that MH has, there is plenty to keep users busy and formulate thousands of builds and setups.

Look, I love any game under the monster-hunting genre, and as someone who has played pretty much everything out there, I can say this game is solid and easily 8+/10.

Fantastic soundtrack too and beautiful cinematic anime scenes.

Buy it, and don't listen to the man children fanbase Nintendo has.

This game (and its predecessors) is every bit as good, if not better, than the MH series. I love MH but am increasingly irritated by Capcom and Nintendo's refusal to publish it on a full blown console. Like most grown adults, the tiny controls of the 3DS cramp my hands with action games. The God Eater series is an adequate, if not superior replacement for those who want to play on a real controller instead of one seemingly designed for children. Full Review »

I'll be honest, I dislike the graphics, it could easily have looked better but gameplay wise this game is great.

The story and characters are ok. The only I really can't stand is the voices in English. I would have liked it if there was an option to play the game with Japanese voices.
