Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a collection with great historical and playful values. It's not an exclusively thoroughbred collection, but the overall quality remains excellent.
as a faithful fan of mmx since its released and I still love them(except mmx7). Sure there might not be any changes to the games sure but it has a bunch of new features
Two great retro packages. If you only want one, go for the first: like the Police Academy movies, the quality dips as the series progresses. [Issue#153, p.95]
This is another retro collection that does an excellent job of preserving a classic franchise in an accessible form on current-gen platforms and is worth your attention whether you’re a long-time fan or someone who’s looking to get into the Mega Man X series for the first time.
There's really no stone left unturned with either Mega Man X Legacy Collection, making them perfect for longtime series fans or for gamers new to the Mega Man X formula.
Mega Man X Legacy 1 & 2 is a good bundle for newcomers to the IP thanks to its beginner mode, even if the first collection has a better finish than the second one. Mega Man is still a classic that every gamer must have in his or her library.
It’s undeniably entertaining to explore every level, backtrack for new upgrades, and go toe-to-toe with themed bosses. I miss the save functionality and don’t see the point of having two separate games, but the Mega Man X Legacy Collections are fully worth a play.
There was a time when trying to put how I felt about the Mega Man X games would have been very hard as there would have been no way for me to not be biased. However looking at X1-X8 I can confidently say that the X games have problems, some of them being impossible to ignore.
The first half of the collection X1-X4 is home to the best of the X series. While X3's sin is the difficulty the gameplay remains the same between X1-X3 due to Capcom choosing to use the Snes version of X3 over the PSone/Sega version (the superior versions). And X4 changes the game play just enough that its considered the best of the franchise.
Where the X collection falls short is in the second half of the collection. Its not that the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 isn't worth your time. Its that if you didn't absolutely love the first 4 games this collection won't change your opinion on the series. Each of the 4 games in this collection suffer from game design mistakes or are down right not fun to play (Looking at you X7). If you did love the first 4 wait for a Steam sale and grab it at a discounted rate, If not just avoid.
The legacy collection is incomplete, 4 games are missing from the collection (Xtreme 1 & 2, Maverick Hunter X, & Command Mission. In there place there is a boss rush game mode which while fun the first time doesn't really have a reason for playing it a second time, you don't unlock different characters to do the rush mode with, or alternate armors.
Ok, this is no way of handling this ip, capcom did a full remake of 3 (so far) resident evil games, and they put no effort for this ports, the input lag is so bad i was able to notice and it affects the overall games (not the same for all), this is unacceptable at least for me. I have played the games on original hardware (most of them) and emulated on other platforms and this is by far the worst of all the games
This collection ****.
It's probably the worst treatment the X series had.
This Collection has the 8 Mega Man X games, COLLAPSED INTO 2 DISCS. WHY CAPCOM? WHY AREN'T THEY IN A SINGLE GAME?
And the emulation... is the worst.
Mega Man X, X2 and X3 have probably the WORST input lag I've ever seen in a game, and not to mention, the version of Mega Man X3 they included, is the SNES version and not the PSX... why?
Mega Man X4, X5 and X6 have some sounds slightly changed... some sounds are in bad quality and others are just different. This also happens with the music, in X6 for the intro stage theme, they stick with the beta version of the song (the one that doesn't have guitars)
X7 and X8 are the only titles that run great...
Localization: You can play the japanese versions of these games if you want, but forget about WATCHING THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE OPENINGS/ENDINGS for Mega Man X4 to X8, is this a joke? What's the point on having the option to play the Japanese version when it doesn't have its features?
The X Challenge is lame, repetitive and unfair.
This Collection has "The Day of Sigma" and it doesn't even have Maverick Hunter X on it! What's the point on including content from a game that isn't included?
Overall, these two are the worst Mega Man collections...
