EA knows not to mess with the classic formula, so the largely visual upgrades work, creating a satisfying game. Truth is, racing games haven’t changed that much in the last decade; it’s about speed, and letting you feel that speed. Sure, you’re missing the “rewind” feature of current racing games, and it might have been nice to get that added in here.

Ten years after its original release, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit remains one of the best games of the IP, but the remaster is quite light, with no new content and only lightly improved visuals.

As a re-release of one of the finest arcade racers of the modern era, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a tasty treat in 2020 too. We do miss a bit more value for the money than just the improved graphics and crossplay.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is still a great game a decade later, but it’s even better now with the addition of modern multiplayer sensibilities, improved visuals, and an expansive single-player campaign.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a gem from 2010 that we didn’t really need again. It definitely wasn’t in my top 5 NFS games to come back as a remaster, but still one to welcome with its new additions. This is a game for those who never experienced it in its initial state in 2010 or for those who want some variation in the arcade racing genre in the meantime until the 2021 iteration is released.

The technical improvements are so minor, especially on the base PS4, you honestly might as well just play the PS3 version from ten years ago. Both are lots of fun. [Issue#182, p.138]

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit may have had its heyday, but this particular entry feels well past its prime with bland visuals, uninteresting courses, and terrible controls.

Thus, the racesOn the one hand, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a great racing game with many interesting ideas for your console. Thus, the races are always fun. Unfortunately, frustration quickly sets in during some races, because you're more concerned with inserting items than with normal racing. The familiar rubber band effect also gets on your nerves little by little. In return, the controls and the improved graphics score a lot of points. However, more content and improvements fall in our opinion. So the question arises, why does the title cost so much as a revised version. So you as a gamer have to decide for yourself whether you want to spend a full price for "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered" or not.

The skill does not come from mastering the speed and having fast reaction time. No, the skill comes from just dealing with the horrible controls.

I consider myself as a big fan of racing simulations (like grand tourismo) or arcade racers (like the burnout series). Because of the latter, I was in good hopes when I saw the developers are the same studio. But it is a disappointment, even GTA has better driving machanics and its not even their core gameplay... It's not a bad game, but it's also far from good.

They didn't do anything to modernize the game. The rubberband AI is horrible, the mission (especially the cop missions) are down to luck. If you get lucky, the AI will crash into other cars to allow you to take them out. Otherwise the AI cheats like a mofo, they can deploy more than 4 sets of spike strips, disregard cool downs, just generally cheat. There's no rewind like many modern arcade racing games, each restart forces you to watch the god damn unskippable burnout sequence, lengthening the time wasted at each restart. This game has not aged well and EA put no effort into remastering it. Avoid! Expand

The game gets incredibly difficult and unfair after about 8 hours. Wreckfest is an alternative that will hopefully make you forget about this trash heap Expand
