Oct 7, 2020Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is an applaudable improvement over its original and an awesome arcade racer. While the complete lack of licensed music and voice acting endows an empty feeling, charming visuals and tons of callbacks should whet your animation-loving appetite. All-in-all, it’s an unadulterated trip down both memory and (literally) slime-filled lanes and a joyful celebration of Nicktoons.
-
Oct 12, 2020Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is a decent kart racing game. The tracks are well made and take proper inspiration from Nickelodeon’s retinue of shows, the Crew system adds a tactical element, and the challenges are decent, but it's just missing a little sparkle and a certain charm. Still, it's a thoroughly competent kart racer that leaves its predecessor in the dirt.
-
Oct 29, 2020Overall, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is generic, yet serviceable. Nick fans like me will get a big kick from all of the characters and references that were stuffed into the package, while younger kids and those new to kart racers will enjoy the accessibility of play. It may lack the features or amount of content that I would have liked, but I can safely say that I still managed to get some enjoyable mileage out of this kart racer.
-
Oct 6, 2020Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 may be fun for a couple of laps, but the derivative gameplay, dated visuals, and disappointing music causes it to lack identity in the genre and ultimately become a generic kart racer with iconic characters. The racing mechanics end up being the highlight of the entire experience, but nothing could make up for the lack of charm. It’s a decent enough game to be a gift for a kid or a rental for a weekend, but if you’re a 90s kid trying to get your nostalgia fix with a fun Nickelodeon game, I’d probably get something else.
-
Oct 22, 2020Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 doesn't quite do enough to separate itself from other games in the kart racing genre. While we are playing, it undoubtedly feels as a competent game, but its gameplay is nothing new. Comparisons to games like Mario Kart are everywhere, and even the game's unique mechanics are not enough to elevate it.
-
Oct 13, 2020And the racing itself - while enjoyable at times - is too unwieldy and loose. Characters slip and slide around the track with little regard for friction. Drifting seems appears unnecessary (as does slowing down) even on the fastest speeds and curviest tracks. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix borrows so much and yet still misses the mark. It may be the good will its progenitor has built up over the years, but getting hit by a jellyfish (this game's infamous blue shell) just doesn't have the same impact.
-
Nov 1, 2020Even though there are only a couple of good games in the kart racing genre, the two being Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing, it is still hard to recommend Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 to the fans of the genre as it is shallow, lacks content and simply fails to entertain.
