Hope that maybe this game might do what the original did 10 years ago. Unfortunately, all the fans got was another cheap cash in made by Beenox and Activison to cap on the tie-in movie’s release.

The one thing to get down in a Spider-Man game is the gameplay that makes Spider-Man the superhero he is. His super strength, his wall crawling, and more importantly, his web swinging. The web swinging in this game, although not amazing, is honestly pretty fun. The game utilizes both of the triggers to make Spidey swing, tying the left and right hand to the respective triggers. Press the left trigger to swing, the web will shoot left, and Spider-Man will naturally start to turn left. It’s the same on the opposite swing. This unique mechanic works, it’s fun, and it looks cool, but it doesn't have the natural flow you’d want it to. Waiting for Spider-Man to finish an animation for him to shoot out a web well after you made him got annoying, and it ultimately gives you less control. Combine this with the awkward wall crawling and wall running that’s hard to control, and the essence of Spider-Man still remains to be captured.

Next is the combat, which was actually one of the previous highlights of the first Amazing Spider-Man game. Wherein that game the combat was done well and really fun, the combat has actually taken a small hit in combat. Combat works like the Batman Arkham games, chaining attacks to increase your combo score, and using your spider-sense to counter attacks. Unlike the first game, where Spider-Man’s combat felt fast and responsive, this game’s combat feels slower and choppier. There were times where I would press the dodge button multiple times and Spider-Man just wouldn’t respond. Plus, the annoying auto lock fails to lock onto the enemies you want it to, and the combat can get on your nerves.

Then there’s the boss fights, which aren't terrible by any means, but they feel so generic. For enemies like Shocker and Carnage, you’d think there’d be more variation in fighting them, but in all honesty, the boss fights don’t feel very different from fighting the generic thug on the streets.

The biggest improvement from the last game is the stealth gameplay, which resulted you feeling over powered and made stealth too easy. Now, the stealth’s new restrictions actually improve it. All enemies have an area of vulnerability that you can enter for an instant takedown, which can be achieved from nearly any position. Plus, the spider sense allowing you to see through walls is a nice mechanic. Stealth is easily one of the best parts of this game.

Lastly, there’s the open world of New York which easily contains the biggest problem in this game. Spider-Man’s duty as a hero is to, of course, save the city, which the game represents through side missions. However, this duty is something the game tries to force on you with the hero/menace mechanic. This mechanic sums up to how many side missions you do. Do more of them, and your hero level goes up. Ignore too many, and you could cross the line and become a menace to society, at which point the task force in the city will try to take you down. This mechanic is annoying because it forces side content - which is supposed to be optional - to be completed, or you’re punished for it. This is made worse by going farther in the game, which only creates more, and they become a grind to get through, with no worthwhile reward for completing them

Now, moving away from the gameplay, the game fails to impress in any real way. The graphics are terrible, and are outdated, even on the last generation of consoles. The story is sub par, not following the movie in any real way, or even bothering to use any of the original voice actors from the film. Andrew Garfield is missing, and this Peter Parker is just a terrible looking imitation. The story does try to throw a lot of interesting characters into the mix, but they really feel shoe-horned in. Carnage, Shocker, Black Cat, and even the Green Goblin manage to suffer from this. The only really interesting character thrown in is Kraven, which is well voice acted by Steve Blume.

Ultimately, Amazing Spider-Man 2 can be summed up like this. For every good thing the game does right, there's an equally bad deterrent or flaw holding it back. Either that, or the mechanics fail to introduce something compelling while at the same time not being horrible. Because of this, the game meets somewhere in the middle between good and bad. It's not the worst movie tie in game, and hardcore Spidey fans might want to try it, since it does have it's good points, but in the end, it's a really painfully average game.

For a PS4 game the graphics is shocking it looks more like a PS2 game rather than a PS4 game I would have thought since the game was in development so long the developers would have been able to make this a game with stunning graphics suitable for a PS4 but instead we get PS2 style graphics.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 has a lot of potential if the developers took longer to develop a well oiled and well crafted game another 12 months this would possibly have been a great game and possibly one of the best games in 2015. But instead it is one of the worst games I have ever played.

My first review I gave the Amazing Spiderman 2 a 1/10 but having given it another chance I see the potential and see what the developers aimed to achieve but no matter how long I play the game it still fails to impress me.

If you are considering buying the Amazing Spiderman 2 I recommend renting it first or wait at least until it hits the bargain bin.

The combat system is also worse, and fights tend to be a mess since the camera can no longer focus on enemies, ever, not even during boss fights. You'll most likely be fighting with the **** camera angles rather than the other guy who's trying to kill you. What else? Missions are boring, uninspired, repetitive. There's an annoying little cutscene before and after every petty crime, slowing the game's pace. Animations are stiff. Story is dumb. Clearly a rushed sequel. Beenox did good in Shattered Dimensions, but after all these failed attempts to create another hit maybe it's time to look for someone else. Expand

It is really sad, that, in 2014, there is still a game published by a big games studio that is this poorly done.
The web swinging doesnt make physical sense, the dialog is solid, but the cutscenes are extremely over-acted. The combat is just the same old Ass Creed/ Arkham styled fighting. It just doesn't get close to be worth it's launch price.

This game is a spit in the face to players everywhere. Its poorly thought out, the side missions are a joke and its WAY too short a game to be worth what it is. I am complaining to Activision about this aswell. 14 main missions between 15-30 mins of your time does not a game make!

Never before has a game single-handedly made me neglect a console. Like all my game reviews, I will try to be as professional as possible with TASM2. If you want my short answer regarding wether or not to pick this game up, imagine me snapping the disc. For an in depth review, stick around.

STORYLINE: In TASM2, you once again assume the role of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This time, Spidey has to overcome the death of his uncle, while simultaneously battling some of his greatest foes. Going into TASM2, I knew plot was going to take a backseat, with gameplay being the center of attention. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for something as awful as this. The biggest mistake TASM2 makes with it's story is not telling you what is. Is it a tie-in with the film of the same name? Is it a sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man? Is it an entirely new adventure, with the "2" being an embarrassing typo? Who knows. Personally, If Im not sure what exactly im playing, im not going to care about whats happening. If the series follows down this path, will anything happening in this game turn up in the inevitable TASM3? This huge flaw aside, the actual story here is very weak. Beenox has tried to share Spidey's spotlight with Peter Parker this time around. Unfortunately, neither Peter or Spidey have anything remotely interesting tied to them. At the start of the game, your told your tracking down your uncles killer. Cool. That sounds like a good premise! Too bad its forgotten about a few missions into the game... Seriously. After this, I couldn't tell you what was happening. You spent a good portion of the game with Kraven the Hunter, serving as his apprentice. This story arc is probably the most interesting in the game, not that thats saying much. After Kraken, you basically just go from one villain to the next. I give the story for TASM2 a 3/10.

GAMEPLAY: Probably the best aspect of TASM2 is it's gameplay. Then again, thats like saying best part of having a heart attack is when you pass out. When in combat, its reminiscent of the Batman Arkham games. Thats really what this game is to be honest. A poor man's Arkham. You essentially button mash until a small icon on the screen appears. If you see this icon you start button mashing a different button. Its very repetitive. Outside of combat, you'll probably be swinging through the city. I think most people would agree this is the best part of the game. Unlike its predecessor, Spidey's webs actually attatch to building this time around, making for a more "realistic" feel. Well, as realistic as swinging through New York in a leotard can be. In all honesty, web slinging is a lot of fun, even if the novelty of it wears off very quick. In TASM2, you are allowed to explore the city of New York. Scattered around are comic book pages to collect. These comics are a nice touch, and theres plenty of them to find for any collectors out there. Aside from comics, there are also some "heroic deeds" to complete. Overtime, crimes start to increase. If you let a crime go unnoticed for too long, it will become high profile. Ignoring these missions doesn't actually have any effect on your reputation, oddly enough. Instead, actually attempting these missions and failing will make you a menace. Yeah. So according to the fine people of New York, actually trying to save someone and failing is worse than just letting them die. The hero/menace system in this game is very basic, and not nearly to the degree of games like inFamous or Fable (not that it's trying to be... at all). Gameplay for TASM2 is mediocre at best. At worst, it makes TASM1 look like a freaking godsend. I give gameplay a 5/10.

GRAPHICS: Never before have I seen a big budget production actually look worse than its predecessor. Spider-Man himself looks alright, but the environments look like something from 2007. Character models in particular look especially horrible. Seriously, how the hell does Peter fit those huge hands into that tiny suit? beats me. If quality visuals are a next-gen must for you, stay far, FAR, away from TASM2. I give the visuals a 4/10.

FINAL VERDICT: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is probably the worst game I've played in recent memory. With Watch Dogs just a few days away, I regret picking Spidey with a passion. Some may find amusement out of repetitive objectives, ugly visuals, and poor plots, but I do not. I give TASM2 a 4/10.

The developer did a decent job making the game, sadly the only interesting part about the game was The hero or menace" system, which Rewards Super Hero behavior by rewarding the web-slingers crime fighting efforts, and Includes consequences allowing criminality fester, which eventually falls apart. The game lacks in a variety of ways but some of the experiences keeps the game worth playing.

The combat is fluid, the graphics are fine (yeah it's not ground braking like infamous second son but definitely and improvement and it honestly looks good, especially Spider-Man's character model), swinging around the city is a blast (and by far the best compared to the other spiderman games), tons of side missions to do (they're unlimited and can vary to beating up thugs, saving people from fires, throwing bombs in a lake, beating up thugs, car chases, camera missions, and much more). There are tons of things to unlock like 20 something suits and even comic book pages, there's a new hero and menace system similar to infamous' karma system (not really needed but appreciated), you can play as Peter Parker again (which we haven't seen in a while) and have choice dialogue with the characters in the universe like Harry Osbourne, Wilson Fisk, Felicia Hardy etc. Lots of villain favorites return like green goblin, kraven the hunter (who is actually now your mentor instead of enemy), and some really cool others that I won't spoil. You now also have various type of web attacks like ice and shocks (I know it sounds weird for spiderman but it's actually kind've of cool). Oh and I know I mentioned the costumes earlier but let me tell you they, are, friggen AWESOME! They brought some really neat ones like Superior Spiderman and Noir, but still include the fan favorites like the Black Suit and 2099. That isn't to say there aren't some rough edges in the production. Some character models could have been refined more, there are some jaggies, and objects will pop in off in the distance as you web swing, and some open world photography missions aren't terribly involved. This is the lack of a smooth finish that is the nature of movie tie-in games, as their production is limited by when the marketing push from the movie has to happen.

But all of it can be forgiven due to the massive amount of things that are right. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has it where it counts. The story is worth being invested in. Character dialogue isn't just there to propel the story, but also to engross you in the world. Spider-Man is as witty as he should be. Beenox continues its well thought out combat mechanics. Spider-Man is quick, nimble and flashy with flips and web pulls and stealth takedowns if you so choose. The web swinging feels as good (if not better) than the gold standard in Spider-Man video games set by Spider-Man 2. The web rush option gives you that extra bit of control that you need when you fly through a city by a string at 100 miles per hour. Every -thwip- of the web is fulfilling. The sounds of the city give life to the environment at ground level, and the silence of the air above it gives you a moment to pause and appreciate your responsibility as the city's lone hero. I could go on and I want to go on, but there are so many instances of attention to detail in both the mechanics and the world's content that do exactly what the game should do: you feel like Spider-Man. I feel that it would just be best for me to say once more - if you liked Spider-Man 2, or I should say, if you like the character of Spider-Man in general, the game is worth your time.

It is because I love the character and the franchise so much that I have taken time out of my day to write this review. Beenox, if you guys are reading this you should probably sit down for a minute. This game feels like an unfinished, thrown together, cut and paste (yet somehow worse) slap in the face to fans of your previous game. It's 2014, and when we boot up a game on our next gen systems we shouldn't be greeted with what looks like half baked concept art for an opening sequence to an A list franchise. Spidey's model looks pretty good up close but that is about the end of that. Peter Parker is apparently being played by a different actor this time around and I'm not talking about the voice, just look at that character model, who the heck is that guy? During cut scenes the characters seem... well.. I guess overly animated would be the term. Spidey is gesturing and dancing around constantly during conversations like he has to pee something fierce. You will also notice in one early cutscene he is dodging machine gun fire that keeps going long after spiderman stops moving. By the way, this may be a system specific issue with sound sync I'm only reviewing the ps4 version. The menus may be the laziest I have seen in a long time, want to enter this compound blue box for yes blue box for no, my phone menus are more dynamic. I know I'm getting nitpicky but these are just little things that add up to my conclusion that this game was rushed. Needless to say I was more then a little let down.
Chin up though, things aren't all bad. Swinging around openworld New York is fun as always and feels more dynamic and controllable with the added left trigger left hand/ right trigger right hand feature. Unfortunately web-zipping is still a broken mess with Spidey often teleporting a few feet before finally landing at his perch. Combat animations feel more fluid and the ability to web the bad guys to walls and ceilings is pretty cool. The God-father himself Mr. Stan Lee makes a more then walk-on appearance as your friendly neighborhood comic store owner. And while he seems completely out of place in the game ya gotta respect the guy. The saving grace of this game would have to be the story, it was interesting enough to keep me engaged while simultaneously pulling my hair out fighting with the camera.
At the end of the day I am a die hard spider-man fan, that being said I would have bought this game if the developers sneezed into a tissue, wrote spider-man on the top of it and sold it to me. However Beenox's previous adventure had set my expectations quite high especially for a movie tie-in and I am very sorry to say that this one does not meet the same standard in my humble opinion.

CRIWARE seems to disappointed Activision re-newed Spider-Man games from the movies, such as the, story, gameplay, themes and enemies. Some of this "Villains" in the game, could jeopardize Marc Webb reputation from making any Spider-Man movies....

If you love your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, you'll love this game! I love the dynamic feel it has. So many surprises as soon as you start to play. Takes a while to get the hang of it, but like anything you'll get the hang(Yes, pun intended) of it. All in all the game is a great adaptation to be the webhead!

People have complained about the graphics (which really are sub-par for a PS4 game (and yes I understand it's multiplatform), but that's not what really got to me in this game. The story and flow was just absolutely horrid. There was no rhyme or reason to what was happening in the game. There are 14 main missions and each one ends with some form of boss fight. Then they hastily scrap together a cut scene where they direct your attention somewhere else. The entire game I just felt like they were saying, "Hey look at all of these characters that we know about! Look at them in the game! Look you can fight them! Look you're interacting with them! Hey look over there! Do this! Do that! Aaaaaaand, you're done."

The 14 missions were beaten in absolutely no time.
    The combat is laughably easy.
The story (if you can call it that) is completely incoherent.

The game provides you with points to upgrade Spider-Man's powers. You can choose to upgrade his senses, web-slinging, web-swinging, and a couple web-attacks which are really only useful in specific situations. I rushed the web-swinging/movement upgrades because I figured they'd be important to get around the city. Boy was I wrong. The only movement pieces you need are the web rush if you're good at it, and possibly the first swing boost upgrade. The slingshot is pointless because you must slow down far too much in order to use it. And slowing down is a very bad thing.

One of the things I hated in this game was the constant need to be moving. A bar is shown above the mini-map that dictates where the people of New York see you as a menace or see you as a hero. All it takes to pull you up into hero status is a couple of side missions that are considered heroic acts (ending police deadlocks, stopping petty crime, rescuing people from burning buildings, etc.). These pop up on the map for Spider-Man to complete as part of being a hero. Ultimately, you must choose to complete these missions, or ignore them. Ignoring them means your hero bar is going to go down and people may start viewing you as a menace. When you're a menace the task force comes after you and the game just gets downright annoying. It wouldn't be so bad if the timeouts on these tasks weren't so short. I would find myself swinging to the main objective and hoping that multiple tasks in multiple locations (yes, you will "ignore" tasks because they timeout at the same time all the way across town) wouldn't timeout before I could reach it.

This rushing around left me no time to appreciate the city that they made. All the buildings were meaningless to me and I found myself growing frustrated with the clunky way Spider-Man maneuvered, even after a couple hours of practice (oh wait, that was the whole game).

    Good points about the game:
-It was fun. I really did find myself enjoying parts of it, despite my utter confusion at the story
-When you do get a good rhythm down for web-swinging, it feels great. While it's going to be short lived because the city is so quickly traversed, those few moments where you actually have it down are glorious.
-You feel powerful. Ordinary thugs are chump change to the Spider-Man. And boy does the combat make it feel that way. While I prefer a more complete/complex combat system, the ease at which you dispose of thugs feels appropriate for being an arachnid superhuman. (Negative: There are few variations of the combat and it gets old a little quick)

    Negatives:
-Short "story." It's really just a mish-mash oft missions where you go after individual villains, written up around a shoddy framework of a plot.
-Clunky maneuverability controls that don't feel comfortable until you're practically done with the game (at least that's how long it took for me)
-Horrible camera control. Perching upside down and even horizontal on buildings caused me to have to completely stop what I was doing just so I could reorient myself. It destroyed flow in combat/movement.
-Poor dialogue. Although this feeds more into the bad story and plot.
-Simple combat with no room to spice anything up. I found myself mashing the square button repeatedly, with the occasional triangle counter, for the majority of the game. Even the boss battles played out almost the same.
-Loading times and transitions are inordinately slow and cumbersome for this day and age.

There is more that can probably be said about the game for both it's positives and it's negatives. I only spent a couple of hours with the game, but beat it's main missions and feel like I've had everything it's had to offer. Another reviewer may feel differently about some of it, but I really do feel like they've missed the mark from what they were trying to achieve. Those of you looking for a next-gen Spider-Man to rival Spider-Man 2, turn back. This is not the game you are looking for. Time to dust off your console and rock the previous generation until they get our hopes up again.

Let me start by saying I am a huge Spider-Man fan, He's my favourite super hero. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a fun game but it's not without it's flaws. Web swinging has finally been perfected. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a fun game but it's not without it's flaws. Web swinging has finally been perfected. Swinging around New York is exhilarating and the fact that the webs actually need to attach to buildings is nice (and realistic). Beenox has mapped the R2, L2 or right rigger/left trigger to spidey's hands. If you want to attach to a building to your right hold R2, if you want to attach left hold L2. It's a nice addition and feels very fluent.

Unfortunately that seems to be all Beenox got right this time around. I don't know how or why but they seem to be getting worse at making Spider-Man games over time. The combat is identical to the last game with a few new additions that don't really spice things up much. The side missions are repetitive and boring. Beenox has introduced the "hero/menace" system which is pointless and extremely annoying. You need to keep yourself in the hero status or the task force will start to attack you. There are so many crimes happening all the time that it is difficult to maintain the hero status because if you fail to prevent a crime you get penalized for it. The side missions don't vary much (car chase, fires, deadlocks, petty crimes, bombs, rescue injured civilian).

Now as for the main story.. Wow just straight up pathetic. Whoever wrote this story deserves to be fired. The plot is so tangled (no pun intended) and incoherent that you honestly don't care at about it at all. They just seem to introduce a new super villain in each chapter. Another new feature Beenox has added is being able to play as Peter Parker...Talk about boring. It basically consists of you asking people questions in any order you desire and without consequences and then snapping a few pictures. You don't even have to ask the desired questions if you don't feel like it. You can just choose finish conversation. The other questions do little to move the plot forward. As for the graphics they are ok, nothing spectacular. But after playing Infamous Second Son for the past month, spidey just doesn't seem up to snuff in the graphics department.Overall a disappointing game. It feels rushed and I know it's because they wanted to coincide with the movie, which is a shame.

Activision needs to give another developer a shot at a Spider-Man game because in my opinion Beenox just isn't a good developer. They need to take a page out of Arkham and create an original story set in it's own universe. There was so much potential for this game but it was squandered away.

You press the button, you hold on to the web for 2 seconds until it automatically lets go. The animation for the web swinging isn't creative and doesn't hold on type of good physics. He always looks the same when swinging. The graphics are OK, nothing incredible but they are exceptable. I however did enjoy fighting crimes and unlocking new suits. The fighting wasn't bad but it was just too easy. The boss fights could break the game over time too. I feel as if it wasn't beenox's fault of creating such a mediocre title, instead with the recent flaws that activision has been committing, such as low budget quick cash grabs, Activision really just cared about stealing money from young spidey fans. Beenox could have created an incredible game like they did with Shattered Dimensions, however activision slowly started to shift away to the Call of Duty genre. What doesn't make sense as well is that Activision just stopped caring about its fans. Adding Micro-DLC to every game possible, such as recent Call of Duty titles.

    Verdict:
If you're a fan of spider man and you're looking for a game to waste a bit of time playing you won't be disappointed. However this game isn't worth half of its retail price. If you find this game for around 10 bucks, I would say its pretty fun, however a game so broken and unfinished doesn't deserve even 30 dollars.

Well actually not really no. While the two Amazing Spiderman games might look similar to the other Spiderman games at face value, there's mechanics in these these games that make them pretty different to the other Spiderman games.

First of all, it has a combat mechanics unlike every other Spiderman series, in that it borrows heavily from the combat in the Batman-Arkham games, which is of course a good thing. While it isn't quite as polished as the Arkham games, the combat is clearly inspired by them and is enjoyable and better for it.

Also, the Amazing Spiderman games have predator mechanics, again 'borrowed' from the Arkham games but work very well. If you think about it, Spiderman is pretty well suited to predator tactics, because a spider is basically a predator in its world and being able to strike from anywhere gives you a lot of options and opportunities.

Another great mechanic in this series, is Web Rush. It basically simulates Spidermans extremely fast reflexes and thinking speed, by letting you slow time down to a(near)standstill if you so wish for a certain amount of time, while you choose a precise place to Web to, which allows for precise, considered and sustained Web swinging, which is cool in my opinion. You can Web zip in real time too of course.

The games also pays good fan service, by including various different Spiderman outfits from the comics which is cool and a lot of people seem to really like that.

I've been playing the new game a lot, and have this to add specifically regarding the new game.

I'll start by saying first and formost, that if you liked the first Amazing Spiderman game, then your also going to love this one for sure. The new game has everything the first game had, such as the Arkham inspired combat and predator mechanics, fun Web swinging, Web Rush and collecting all the comic pieces to unlock readable comics, but it also has some tweeks and improvements on those foundations.

New improvements are things like a Web swinging system that has the left trigger acting as your left Web shooter, and your right trigger, the right shooter, which makes perfect sense and just feels..right. The webs actually attach to buildings now, and if you watch a video of or play the first Amazing Spiderman game after playing the new one, you won't belive you never noticed it didn't do that before lol.

Other improvements are a better variety of persistent side missions, with additions such as rescuing people from burning buildings and other situations for example, and even the ones returning from the last game are improved, such as more prolonged and involving police stand off's that give you engrossing predator scenarios that are more lengthy and varied, allowing you to go in all fists and webs blazing or flex your predator muscles(so to speak)as I say, or the stolen car scenarios for example, that have you moving freely over the top and sides of the car, pulling out windows and occupants and hostages while being attacked with more comprehensive button prompts to keep you on your toes.
Completing side missions also maintains your reputation as a hero, or you end up having people believe Jonah J Jamison that your a menace, which can have have consequences if you're in 'menace status'.

All the different unlockable outfits in the game have different modifier bonuses depending based on whether you have a Menace or Hero reputation, and how high that reputation is. I like that you have to earn each costume by completing a missions, which involves infiltrating a locations where the tech is to be found, requiring stealth all the way to accomplish.

You now have the ability to 'Switch on' your spider sense at any time, which is essentially like detective vision in the Batman-Arkham games, which shows you where enemies and other usable objects are, which is especially useful in predator scenarios, and your senses can be improved, with some nice benefits. There's also more predator moves you can use any time, such as take downs from ledges below and using your Web to repel down from perches, roof supports or a ceilings, down to your prey for stealth takedowns. Picking off your prey one at a time, without even revealing your presence, has you feeing like a proper badass, and is highly satisfying.

There's also little tweeks, that might not sound like much on paper, but as a whole improve the game and the way it feels, such as you don't have to jump over small objects, you vault over them automatically instead, little things like that all add up.

There are sections where your Peter Parker, but these are under developed in my opinion, but in the context they are used, such as infiltrating a social event or something, it makes sense to not be dressed as Spidey.

The graphics, even on next gen, are not going to blow anyone away. While they could have been better, they are perfectly fine and smooth, and you must take into account that this game doesn't have the budget that bigger games out there have, but they are better than in the last game, and in next gen, noticeably better detailed with better populated textures, and justify the slightly higher price in my opinion. The developers have done miracles with what the time and budget I imagine they had, and I'd love to see what they could do with the time and budget the Arkham games have is this is what they can produce on a lesser budget?!

The camera makes you work a little harder than perhaps you should, and the news pieces after each mission may annoy but you can skip them, so these are minor complaints really, and by no means a game changer to the core game.

So to summarise, if you liked the last game, you'll like this one even more, because it has all the same elements and game play you know and love, but with various improvements and Tweeks, and while there's obvious room for improvement, the game is still a solid, fun, addictive and highly enjoyable game and Spiderman game.

This game is absolutely abysmal. Beenox pathetically tries to emulate Rocksteady's success (no wonder why Beenox is following Rocksteady on Twitter) and fails meanly. Let's start with the main show of the game: Spider-Man.....................................

Spider-Man looks like he's glazed or something. For f*ck sake, in the cutscenes he is restless, doesn't stop moving around. Looks like a mentally disturbed douchebag who delivers one-liners to Kraven, Oh yeah Kraven, we'll get to that LATER!

Now, the graphics... the graphics. I went to Youtube and some dipsh*t told me the graphics were amazingly well done, and I was like... WTF??? I never see such underdeveloped graphics in my whole f*cking life. This time is not Activision's fault, this time Beenox got too much drunk if they thought the game had nice graphics. If you think the graphics look good, killing yourself would probably be the best idea for you.

Now, the story. This game insults the movie's story by the way. It's like you pick the script from the movie and make it more gay and more retarded in the most possible way. Donald Menken is actually Chameleon? What the f*ck? And where the hell is Gwen Stacy? And why they they included Aunt May? Do they realize that her only purpose in the whole game is to seat in her couch and look at the television like a mindless possessed? And when she starts interacting with her nephew, she says "We must forget the past and look at future; We will be happy again, Peter. I promise you!; Wherever he is (Uncle Ben), he's very proud of you. And so am I;" all that nonsensical babbling because of Ben's death. Jesus, he died a year ago and they're still talking about that! LOL! (I really feel bad for this character)

The gameplay. The combat system in the first game was pretty cool! However, Beenox picks that and makes it more stupid and boring. It looks like Spider-Man is having anal sex with the criminals but more unexciting. The web-slingling is "okay", I guess. Nothing special. The missions are repetitive, short and unenthusiastic just like the boss fights.

    The dialogue: http://cdn0.lostateminor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Dog-poop-1000px-990x500.jpg

Finally, Kraven is a meaningless, idiotic and retarded villain that should never been in the game in the first place. His quotes are godawful and his design is amazingly stupid and unoriginal. His purposes in the f*cking game is like this:

    1. Teaches Spider-Man for no f*cking reason
    2. Attacks him for no f*cking reason but gets his ass beated without even blinking.

    That's it?????????? What the...?

In conclusion, the end result is an expressionless, effortlessly, mindless, retarded, poorly made game that insults Spider-Man fans and gamers alike. Beenox should get fired and Activision should acquire some better studios like Rocksteady or Sucker Punch. Nuff said!!

P.S: The story revolves around Peter tracking down Uncle Ben's killer but after the first 30 minutes of the game, Carradine is killed and the whole plot element is automatically destroyed! Seriously? Go f*ck yourself, Beenox!

I love Spiderman games- just not this one. This game is awful. The graphics look like Gamecube (although I was playing on my PS4). I really hate when developers push out these licensed games without putting any effort into thier development. Don't buy this game. I got it on Gamefly and sent it back the same day.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was a bit turned down by the amount of negative reviews this game received and having started it after playing with infamous second son, the graphics weren't as good. However after a while I got used to it and the missions were playable, great boss battles, enjoyable walkthrough. The character deign is great, spidey looks cool and with the wast amount of unlockable costumes, the game provides extra fun. In my opinion graphics looked a lot better during daytime, it was great to swing around the big apple watching the reflection of the sun on skyscrapers and the moving clouds on the sky. The only thing what nerves me however is that after you finished the main missions, you can't enjoy swinging around the city because without constantly fighting crime in side missions, the task force will be after you wanting to hunt you down. All in all I didn't regret having played this game but might not spend too much time playing it further because of the above mentioned 'problem' after finishing the main story. Expand

Beenox has had a bit of practice with Spidey. The Amazing Spider-man 2 is the fourth game that they have taken major development duties on and it represents a natural evolution of their established formula. The Amazing Spider-man 2 is the fourth game that they have taken major development duties on and it represents a natural evolution of their established formula. Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time were enjoyable linear games that respected the material, but their first tie-in (The Amazing Spider-man) took the hero back into the open world and gifted him with new web swinging and combat systems. Now, the sequel comes, but is it any good? Well, pretty much.

The story is an alternate telling of events of the second movie, which is smart as it helps to avoid spoilers. The epilogue narrative spoiled the plot of the first movie in the original game and that was one of its few faults. This time, Spidey is going after his uncle's killer, only to find out that a new murderer called the Carnage Killer is bringing a special brand of justice to criminals. Not only is this causing trouble, but the Russian and American gangs are battling it out, with the Kingpin overseeing the operations and attempting to wipeout Spidey by ordering a bunch of criminals onto the hero. Plus, Electro is rising and the Green Goblin is beginning to step up. The plot is as bloated as that of the film counterpart, yet it is surprisingly easy to follow and makes up for its shortcomings with a nice amount of Easter eggs and references. Being the massive Spidey fan I am (did you really think I would give this game a 9 if I wasn't), I appreciated these little touches. The campaign isn't very long (around 7 hours) and the bosses aren't challenging, but I preferred this narrative to the previous game's- even if it feels like Electro and Gobby have been thrown in just for tie-in purposes.

The gameplay is smooth and responsive, even if it does feel a little easy. Web swinging is amazing and is the best evolution of the system I've ever seen. Having played every Spider-man game from 2000 onwards, this feels like a natural extension of a system that was already great fun. The left and right trigger idea is nice and well done, even if some of the logic is a little out there at times (how can Spidey swing through Central Park?). The web rush system is also back and it's as fun as ever, with new upgrades and better functionality. Wall crawling is rarely used when you have such an amazing amount of aerial tools, but it works alright and running up the sides of buildings is something I've always loved in a Spidey game- it reminds me of the good old days. There is no doubt that this is one of the most effective traversal systems in gaming, but what about combat? It is very similar to that of the previous game, with Arkham-esque styles of attacking, countering and stunning (which is basically shooting bad guys with your webs). The animation is excellent and most of the time it is very responsive, even if you can build up combos a little too easily and take down foes quickly. I like the use of different webs, such as the seismic and ionic styles which can knock down foes and melt armour respectively. The upgrade system isn't very complicated, but it works and I was keen to earn all of them. The ability to pick up objects is a particularly useful tool... The stealth of the game is better than that of the last one, even if its logic baffles me. Sneaking up on foes is tense and it feels good to smash the enemies, but there is no real penalty, with Web Rush making it easy to escape and the foes never really learning their mistakes. They have horrible vision ranges as well and once I performed two takedowns in a row- even though I was in front of the second enemy!

The open world isn't highly detailed and the civilians aren't interesting, but this isn't GTA V. The city does offer a plethora of activities and collectibles though and I love how your various suits have different upgrades and levels. I enjoyed the hideouts and while there are less comic pages, I still enjoy collecting them and the audio logs offer some valuable back story. The comics you unlock are great and can be easily accessed and read. There are also some difficult combat challenges and plenty of photo ops, meaning that the game will take over 12 hours to fully complete. I platinumed it at around 19 hours, so completionists don't need to put in too much time. One of the game's biggest talking points is its Hero or Menace system. To be frank, it is absolutely horrible and the reason this game doesn't deserve perfect marks- even from a staunch Spider-fan. While your level of reputation does give you bonuses and keeps the bad guys off your tail, the random crimes have too little a time limit and they get highly repetitive after a while. The system also doesn't impact the story or side missions and the lack o a clear goal makes it a worthless feature. I could see where Beenox was going with it, but they didn't have enough time to develop a good system.

TASM 2 is a good game and deserves more than a 5. Beenox just needs more time for their games.

To summarize, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a pity. It's a pity because the potential is there. I do not understand why they cannot treat this superhero with more respect and why they always have to wait for a movie to force a simplistic system in the "awesomeness" that is navigating from web to web through New York.

    It's.. not great.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is one of those games that I want to call bad, but in reality, there really isn't anything terribly bad about this game. However, it didn't do a whole lot right, either. Swinging around New York City is very satisfying, and gives a very accurate representation of Spider-Man. It has a Hero/Menace system similar to Infamous, and it's done well.

First, it needs to be understood that the was made to fit the schedule, which meant it had to be made first. But with that comes the cost of an almost poor storyline and plot. The problem with the storyline of this game follows the same problem the film had. Too many villains! it would've been better had the game been after one villain and was longer without introducing too many different plots. But this game isn't at all "Bad". It has amazing web-swinging. shooting and stays quite consistently when fighting villains (which can be repetitive at times).
