    Incredibly fun combat, amazing visuals, compelling story.
    Be in Hogwarts.
    Has some technical issues with sound and perfomance.

    I'm not a big Harry Potter fan. The films are ok, albeit skewed towards children and full of plot holes, but mindless fluff none the less, and I've never played a HP game before.
    Meanwhile, my wife is a huge fan and so I have bouflght her a copy to play on her PS4. Now she's not a big a tiin gamer, and so I got the Deluxe version so I could play on my PS5 and learn the combat and system to    I'm not a big Harry Potter fan.     This game is a masterpiece. I've played other Harry Potter games and none of them come close to as good as this one is. It looks especially good on the PS5. If you're on the fence between getting a series X or PS5, I would highly recommend going with the PS5 especially for this game. Not to mention PS made next gen controller while Microsofts lazy selves kept the same controller thatThis game is a masterpiece.     Lovely game, It truly gives you the feeling you're a student in Hogwarts. They nailed the class feelings and combat is really good.

    As many have sed, this is the HP game we all have been waiting for.

    The plot holes and the writing being worse than a mid tier JRPG is enough to warrant a low score. The game really does not have much to offer outside of the main game as most of the side content are just fetch quests. So the main game and the story not being a rehash and mix of plot points form the books would have been at least worthy of some respect. The macguffin is the end point of the game and it's ancient.

    Combat is where I really laughed a lot at the game. Forspoken got a lot of deserved criticism but its spells looked better and even the combat felt slightly better than this point and shoot. Though what really made me laugh at the combat were idiotic mechanics where the spell has to be the same color as that of the shield to break the shield. The mechanics and the purpose of the spell be damned, the color is what determines duel outcomes. Every complex and compelling magic system I can think of, like Oblivion or Magicka has been respectful of their audience to give them more. The fact that games not based on magic have more variety and quality in their spells catalogue than Hogwarts Legacy is both insulting and amusing.

    The open world is not really open if one examines it closely. The aesthetics are decently done but that would be a very insignificant plus point as opposed to gameplay in that world feeling hollow. Once you scour the countryside a bit more, you realise that the so called open world is anoter exercise in Ubisoft open world shenanigans. The difference is that a modern Ubisoft Assassin's Creed has still more to offer than Hogwarts Legacy. Granted that's because of Ubisoft flinging more quantity and getting a few lucky shots, but in this race to the bottom, I can only draw these forms of comparisons.

    The only bits funnier than the combat system are the reviewers insisting that there is build variety in the game. I expect this game might get microstransactions in the future and some more minigames because well the fans of hte franchise are very easy to exploit and gaming fans even more so, as EA and Activision have continually demonstrated over the last decade or so.

    What a dull and average experience. This must be the most linear and static version of any 'Open world game' made in the last 15 years. This game lives entirely off of the Harry Potter franchise, and is in itself a very ordinary and an outdated adventure game. You can only interact with pre-selected objects and a narrow selection NPCs, that gives you extremely boring chores. Calling them 'side quests' is a huge overstatement. The story is generic, unoriginal and shallow in every way. The best part is the combat system and world design, but Hogwarts is over-interpreted and feels like Hogwarts on steroids, it's over-sized, bulky and americanized. The gameplay feels orchestrated with low immersiveness, just like an old cartoon where only the highlighted objects on a matte painting are animated. The loot system is especially ridicoulus, with gold chests placed the most ridiculous places; right on the street or directly in front of NPC's and the chest owners, who doesn't mind you robbing all of their galleons. The story is so meager a 10 year old could write a more in-depth narrative. If Avalance Software spent their money on creating depth to this game, instead of bribing youtubers to get unrealistically positive reviews, this would might've become a game worth of a release.… Expand

    Dull writing, dead in the face characters, and boring missions. If this would have came out in 2012, maybe it would have been something. If you're a fan of the franchise, then you may enjoy it, but otherwise just another mediocre RPG that hopes it's name recognition will sell.

    Soo..I loved this game for the first like..10 hours ,then i realized that is game without a soul its missing a spark should i say ,combat is boring,quests are boring ,voice acting is bad on character u play i felt no connection to it..it was like talking robot.. i had no interest in hearing more and i started skipping dialogs..exploring is a joke ,no feeling of reward for completingSoo..I loved this game for the first like..10 hours ,then i realized that is game without a soul its missing a spark should i say ,combat is boring,quests are boring ,voice acting is bad on character u play i felt no connection to it..it was like talking robot.. i had no interest in hearing more and i started skipping dialogs..exploring is a joke ,no feeling of reward for completing someting..""dungeons"" is like.. go down this stairs and open chest with crap in it...I was 20 hours in to the game and story was so boring and simple that i couldnt care less..The world is beatiful,graphics are beatiful but thats it.… Expand

There's so many rooms you can get in it's unbelievable. Story is not a strong piece but Sebastian's subplot save the day for good.
    World desing is simply cozy, beautiful and dynamic. Through campaing you will experience all    Amazing gameplay and onderfull sound design. A LOT of stuff to explore and discover. No boring useless collects. You can solve riddles, you can explore entire Hogwart. There's so many rooms you can get in it's unbelievable. Story is not a strong piece but Sebastian's subplot save the day for good.
    World desing is simply cozy, beautiful and dynamic. Through campaing you will experience all four seasons. You can fly on broomstick and Hypogryph. Transmog makes you able to dress you character whatever you want. Simple RPG system sticks with world's exploration mechanics and collectiibles. It's hard to get bored because there's so many different things to do.

    There are so minor flaws; grinding start to be partly useless since you are able to upgrade stuff you already have because you can grind a LOT of money by selling magical beasts. Optimization is not good. Raytracing is implemented so poorly so it's better to turn is off. You will barely notice difference.

    Overall it's a great game and dream-come-true game for HP fans.

    However, the main story is almost meaningless and your friend's quests turn out to be the most interesting and plot-deep things in Hogwarts Legacy than this whole "epic" around ancient magic.

    The most annoying thing for me (and I wonder why practically no one mention this), it's how empty our protagonist is. He has absolutely zero backstory. How he got here, where he was before, who he is, etc.

    Even Mary Sue Aloy from Horizon has her origins, her upbringing history and still feels like more or less a living person.

    On the other side, our protagonist from Hogwarts Legacy is just a dummy, a mannequin for wearing different robes, doing other people's errands and listening to other people's stories.    … Expand

Not only that, they have taken what I consider the worst most hand-holdey aspects of game design. It's like they think the players are total morons. A perfect example of this was when I was asked to solve a 'puzzle' which was a blank picture frame on the wall. I spoke to the NPC who told me the exact spell to cast on the picture, which revealed a scene of a place in Hogwarts that you obviously needed to find. "Nice I thought, I'll keep an eye out for that when I'm wandering" and took a screenshot. But no...it immediately gave me a quest marker to the place I needed to find, which was about 10 second walk away. Incredibly poor game design.

    The rest of the game is like this, it requires no thought or effort and even when doing main quests you tend to just be following a quest marker to the next spot which is literally a 2 minute walk down a linear corridor. It's such a strange decision to think players are so stupid and can't figure anything out themselves.

    Also, the voice acting and writing is absolutely god-awful. Watching the character interactions is like watching an episode of Love on the Spectrum minus all the heart and humour.

    I think this would be a great game for people who really love Potter and also don't play many video games but for everyone else, stay the hell away.    … Expand

    So, i originally gave this an 8. but playing the game a little longer i have felt some issues with the game.

    talking about challenges. the difficulty of some of the ones you run into gets a spike and its kind of annoying. even though i am the right level for said challenged. that only goes for the combat challenges

    the game play is good and it looks great. it is still a very fun game but some things can be fixed.

    the story hasen't fully grabbed me either. i don't know if its the pacing or they just havent made me feel like there is urgency but its not pulling me in fully. something just feels off.

    im still enjoying the game a lot and i do recommend it. i just haven't been fully pulled in emotionally    … Expand

    Sorry if my english is bad it's not my first language,that being said Hogwarts legacy is a good game but the hype is too much,the game has a lot of elements mising for a 2023 triple A title,like the interaction with cups or food is horrible,the character doesn't even hold the damn thing,you can't sit on anything(bench,bed,chair) but they give you the option to createa lot of them(why evenSorry if my english is bad it's not my first language,that being said Hogwarts legacy is a good game but the hype is too much,the game has a lot of elements mising for a 2023 triple A title,like the interaction with cups or food is horrible,the character doesn't even hold the damn thing,you can't sit on anything(bench,bed,chair) but they give you the option to createa lot of them(why even bother?),the facial animation and movement it's bad for 90% of the characters,the way your character moves his hands and body in some cutscenes is rather cringe and misplaced,the interactions with npcs lacks emotion and you can't relate with any of them,at some point in the story i got a npc showing up from nowhere and talking with me like se knew eachother from the start. The story is not bad,just average,nothing new or wow. The combat is nice the spells feel good and even if they are just a few they are enough to make you have a lot of fun. What i liked are the puzzles,they are rather fun to solve but after a while i got bored,there are to many and feel repetitive,the collectibles om the other hand where not fun to gather and there are way to many even if the game is open world. The RPG part is rather dissapointing,not even 1 choice you make changes something in the game,none. While the customization of your character is fun the item element is bad,very bad,the game doesn't make the iteme feel like they matter very much,or at all and the fact they make you complete a lot of puzzles and dungeons and stuff for verry little reward or any makes the adventuri element rather empty. The world is big, rather too big for the content they provide but is fun to Fly in your broom ore therestral to see it even if the graphics are not that wow like some people ar trying to tell. The last thing i want to say are the bugs,it has some anoying bugs,i got stuck in more the one mission because the npc wont spawn or because i got stuck in the wall,i even got stuck in the ball form when you dodge. Sometimes the textures are blurry or they don't load properly. In the end the game is good and fun to play but it's not something amazing or spectacular and especially not for a 2023 game. For me it's a 6.5/10 if you are a Harry Potter fan it might be even higher for you,i'm not a huge fan of the films/books but i liked the concept and the idea this beeing the reason i brought the game. After 35 hours and finishing the main story and the important side quest and reaching lvl 35 i can't really say it was worth buying the deluxe edtion.… Expand

Also, I wish there were more choices and options with multiple endings like the Witcher whether you choose to go dark or not. Perhaps even a dating mechanic. More unique boss fights would be nice. No quidditch for whatever reason is a big downer. So, to sum it all up, the game is great, but is just shy of being perfect.… Expand

    Excellent game! The exploration is super fun, the environments are really pretty, and the combat works well. You really feel like a student running through the Hogwarts countryside. The small negatives would be the camera is too close, and the combat targeting can be off at times

    This is an amazing game for all HP fans! Hogwarts has been recreated with love, overall the open world feels very detailed and magical. Different game mechanics and activities are just what you always wanted to do reading books/watching films. Music is amazing and helps immerse in Hogwarts, voice acting is very good, too. PS5 graphics (fidelity + ray tracing) are really nice, especiallyThis is an amazing game for all HP fans!     Work with DualSense is really impressive (immersive), casting spells and riding a broom are my favourites, but I have been only 25 hours of pure fun and slow exploring.
    I rated this 9, because obviously there are some problems in release version, but which can be easily fixed by developers: -impossibility to sleep and very weird skip time mechanics (not immersive because of many reasons)
    - the biggest issue for me which does not allow to completely immersive in this Wizarding World - empty dormitories during nighttime, like all the students are suddenly gone (this is really cringe). All rooms which should be habitant are empty including professors. I understand this is pure technical complexity to add this sleep course, but that is a downside for me to fully immerse into this story and gameplay - Outdated dialogue mechanics, lack of dialogue choices. It’s really strange to see characters entering dialogues in same way as in Mass Effect or Skyrim (this can’t be fixed I’m afraid and we’ll have to live with this). Let's be fair - many dialogues are super-simple, side quests are quite boring, BUT it doesn't really matter in this particular game.
    - different glitches with animals / npc, but that’s ok with me really, it happens everywhere, fixable with patches
    - most of the side quests are really weak, it’s a shame :( BUT, it’s fixable with additional content at some point and of course in amazing sequel we await. Lore is amazing itself and I really believe you will come up with brilliant new content, whether it be DLC or sequel.
    - another thing - why can’t you sit on a chair/bench in Hogwarts, just listen to music for example and look around, just watching students and professors do their stuff. You can even create chairs and benches, but you can’t sit on these. - different items you can interact with are cool - but globes are way too many. It's like they are obsessed with geography there. All these things I've mentioned are just purely minor issues which won't allow me to put a 10, which is amazing by itself!
    UPD after 50 hours. I’m giving it a 10 instead of 9 as the emotions I got after randomly revealing some secrets and trying some new mechanics made me absolutely happy like a Hogwarts fifth-grader. It’s unique    … Expand

    Absolutely incredible the combat feels amazing and you really get to live in the world jk Rowling wrote to the fullest extent. I've been waiting for a game like this ever since I read the books and so far it has delivered all I want.

    Holy, this game is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. This game does not miss and it lives up to the hype. Most definitely going down in my top 5 games ever played.

    This game has almost everything I have ever wanted from a. Modern “Harry Potter” game. Great RPG, great sense of discovery and the world feels alive like they do in the books and movies. Wish there was quidditch and other wizard/mini games to play.

    I was very skeptical before the release of this game. They were very upfront about what the game looked like and what it would contain, but still with being burned recently by so many games, I was still weary. I can now say with full confidence that it’s absolutely fantastic! They have crafted a world that feels so alive and so true to the source material. The spells are not super flashy which I enjoy cause it does not cause to much stuff happening on screen which if you played Forspoken would fill your screen up so much you lose track of the action. On Graphics:
    I play it on PS5. I have found the Balanced setting to be the best for me and I turn off motion blur and depth of field. This makes it look cleaner with a ton of small details still showing and frame rate barely ever dipping. I am surprised on the user reviews that say it ps3 era graphics cause then I know they haven’t played it and prolly just acting as if they know based on some low quality videos. Also those that rated 3 or less must not like gaming cause this game looks beautiful. On Characters Love the interaction with other students they have a whimsy to them and even the one you don’t interact with will have side conversations that are fun to listen to. Your own character is fun to make look cool or goofy. You can alter your look regardless of loot. Once you loot an item or identify the cosmetic is instantly unlocked to apply to any other item. I currently wearing a suit of armor with a goblin helm. The house you choose only has nuanced bearing on the game so play the house you connect to. Yes I am a HufflePuff. On Story. I have seen many mixed reviews about the story. But half way through I love it simplicity but at the same time intriguing way it is being told. Sadly I will not elaborate as I won’t give spoilers. I have played some small side quest and some that are full fledged fun individual stories. Conclusion
    Though I am not doing an extensive review here. It’s only because I think you all should decide. But for me it’s a tie with GOW Ragnarok for my most enjoyment gaming in the last 2 years and above my other favorite Horizon Forbidden West. If you hate open world style games this might not be your cup of tea. For me it’s 95 percent what I love therefore 10/10 for me. That missing 5 percent are for only the few tech flaws I experienced. Thankfully they were not immersion breaking for more than a couple seconds. P.s. saw one reviewer give it a zero with saying there are loading screen everywhere. If you have not played the game don’t believe the zero point reviewers they have not played the game at all. There is no loading screen and the only loading I have noticed is when going from inside the castle to the outside and it take less than 4 seconds for the door to open.     Everything you could want in a game set in the Harry Potter world. There are a few nitpicky things that keep me from giving it a 10/10, but those are really just a me thing. Other than those things the game is excellent. Experienced very little to no bugs on the PS5 in Fidelity mode, which is rare for games now a days.

    Amazing game! The feeling of immersion and the amazing detail is revolutionary. I haven’t had any gameplay issue and frame rate is fine. My only complaint is people think it’s funny to spoil the game online but this game is all about the gameplay and immersion so I’m enjoying it still.

    This is what I wanted and so much more from a HP world game. The visuals are quite good, the game runs quite well (considering I am playing the deluxe edition 3 days before the official release - its amazing there are very few bugs overall). The world is so immersive and there is always much to do. I am 15hrs in and looking forward for more

    The hype is real! The game is absolutely fun and I seriously can’t put the game down. I might get fired from my job because I’ve called off multiple days in a row just to finish playing the game.     Don’t listen to the crazies and ideological fascists out there trying to make you feel bad for playing this game. They do not have the moral high ground. What they are standing on is a fabricated moral high ground that is shaky and crashing from under them.

    Great story and amazing combat. Open world could've been a tad more filled but the rest of the game more than makes up for this.

    Pure perfection! Gorgeous to look at and with an endless stream of things to do and places to explore. My only tiny complaint is the lighting issues that can be noticeable when walking into a new room / area. But while that can be a bit bothersome, the sheer perfection of the world design and combat make this game a truly exceptional one and very much deserving of a 10.

    El juego de Harry Potter con el que todos soñabamos. Mundo abierto, un monton de cosas que hacer, mucho cariño en los pequeños detalles, buenos graficos, buenas animaciones faciales, combates decentes etc…

    Much like modern Assassin Creed games, Hogwarts Legacy lives and dies on whether you get captured by its spectacular worldbuilding. There are clear and concrete bloatware issues and concerns, but for a Harry Potter fan it can be quite easy to ignore most of them and just dive in its impressive world, chockfull of activities and Wizarding World experiences.

    Aside from a few bugs and a bit of dodgy writing, Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most enjoyable open-world games I’ve played. Not quite Elden Ring, but it embarrasses the Assassin’s Creed games when it comes to mission variety and a sense of exploration.

    Hogwarts Legacy brings the world of Harry Potter to life, more than we could ever hope for. A weaker main story and some unpolished elements can’t dent the armour of a mind-blowing atmosphere built through a world that feels truly alive. When it comes to world-building, this game is a true monster - a beast that will engulf you until every last corner of it is explored, and every story brought to its end. Undoubtedly a masterful experience.
