The shallow fighting game will be enjoyed by hardcore fans, but anyone else will be mystified by its sheer lackluster gameplay. There isn't enough content for a $40 pricetag, especially in the terms of characters. There is are three or so standard modes of "story" (there really isn't any, if you're wondering), arcade, and versus. They're all more or less decent, but get into the the gameplay and problems arise. Firstly, the two character swap out of place and useless. It's actually reallllly annoying, and can drag down any good match. The backdrops are poorly done and uncreative, just like the rest of the game. It's still fun... kinda... but the constant sticky controls, icky graphics, and lack of desirable content just makes it another mediocre installment in the capcom fighting franchise. Expand

Tatsunoko is certainly its own beast, but compared to a genre highlight like Street Fighter IV it can't help but feel slightly throwaway. [Feb 2010, p.95]
  2. Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom arrives at the western market twelve months after being sent in Japan, in a new version that adds great amount of extra content. TVC: Ultimate All-Stars it is the best fighting game never sent on Wii. An indispensable game for the users of the Nintendo's console.
  3. With zany characters and gameplay and a low barrier to entry, TVC is fantastic for the fighting game novice. On the other hand, there is also a deep fighting system for veteran fighter fans along with a solid online setup. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is an amazing 2D fighting game that is tailor-made for the Wii and its audience.
