    Fortunately Child of Eden has arrived, and it's a game that completely absorbs you when you're playing it. A game which makes you laugh for no reason when playing it. A game which expresses pure joy at simply being a game. And it's brilliant.

    Easily one of the best games I've played this year, and while it's definitely early in the year to start calling out the GOTY, Child of Eden is certainly in the running.

    With a regular controller, Child of Eden is a finely-tuned, lovely shooter. With Kinect, it transforms from being something you play to something you become. It's impossible to see someone playing Child of Eden with Kinect and not want to try it yourself. And once you start, you'll keep coming back for more.

    If Child of Eden suffers from one significant drawback it's the length of its campaign. For serious players looking to rush through, it's possible to finish all of the stages within a few short hours. Finishing stages does unlock new visual filters and opportunities to mess with samples in-game, but if you're looking for 8+ hours of genuinely fresh content you will be disappointed.

    Some players may be hung up by its brevity, but if its extension would have depreciated how breathtaking the rest of the game is, I don't think I'd have it any other way.

    It's worth mentioning that even though the game can (and should) be played with Kinect the option is there to play this title with the standard controller. In this mode it definitely feels like a follow up to Rez. But quite honestly after putting down the joystick and playing, it was extremely tough to go back to the 'old style' of control.

    All in all, Child of Eden is an amazing example of what the Kinect hardware can do when placed in the right hands. It's also a brilliant piece of entertainment that is just as enjoyable to watch as it is to play. If you own an Xbox 360, this is a game that needs to be in your collection.

    Once again Tetsuya Mizuguchi has created an amazing game, just like he did with Rez those so many years ago. Child of Eden however is far superior thanks to the FULL HD graphics, a beautiful soundtrack and almost flawless Kinect controls that work perfectly with the gameplay.

    The level of challenge and degree of difficulty ramps up smoothly over the course of the game, and all passage of time will slip by, as you become immersed and even hypnotized by the dazzling graphics and stunning music in Child of Eden; one of the most original games I've ever played on the Xbox 360, with or without the Kinect.

    While Child of Eden is a short adventure with only 5 main stages that you'll complete the first time in less than two hours, the replayability comes with collecting unlockables and trying to beat your friends on the leaderboard.

    This psychedelic rhythm rail shooter from Q Entertainment's famed game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi - the man behind Space Channel 5, REZ and Lumines - deserves your attention, love and care. Whether one or all three games I've just enumerated occupy a special place in your heart or not, there's no reason why this new venture should be skipped. Now, if your eyes and ears have never been exposed to Mizuguchi's genius before, the time has come.

    Child of Eden is about as perfect a follow-up to Rez as one could expect - minus the annoying star system. If you loved Rez, or on-rail shooters in general, you'll definitely want to buy this ASAP. The $50 price tag may seem a bit high given that there aren't a ton of levels available. However, what's here is high-quality stuff, so if you enjoyed Rez, you'll easily get $50 worth out of it - especially if you own the Kinect since that gives you two distinct, but very different ways to play the game.

    Child of Eden is a true successor to what REZ was a few years ago. If you don't mind its short longevity and you are up to the endless challenge given by upgrading your scores, you shouldn't really miss it. It's the best use you could make of your Kinect, too.

    It's amazing to look at, the music and rhythm of the game is second-to-none and the game's compatibility with Microsoft's latest peripheral makes for one of the better Kinect titles.

    The fantastic music blends in perfectly with the beautiful graphics, making Child of Eden a very hypnotic experience at times. Kinect registers everything smoothly and people that have Kinect in their homes should be forced to buy this game! Child of Eden's campaign only lasts for an hour and a half but you'll play every level over and over again.

    The immersive Kinect controls are worth keeping the game around, especially as demonstration for what the Kinect is capable of. Even playing Child of Eden for 10 minutes leaves you with a sense of happiness.

    A real multi-sensorial video gaming experience, something different from everything else and with a very definite artistic soul. It isn't however a game for everyone: just five levels feel too little for a retail game and only the ones willing to repeat them over and over harvesting for points will make the game more durable. Notwithstanding, it remains a gem of rare beauty that would be a pity missing.

    It's hard not to feel at least a little bit ecstatic taking part in its marvelously framed moments. Avid audiophiles weary of the standard-issue music game will definitely find something novel in this high-concept, yet easily enjoyed shooter.

    So much fun to play. It's less of a game and more of a sensory experience that just evokes this feeling of happiness and contentment. It's something I think everyone should take part in at least once. It's just so depressingly short for a full-priced game.

    Child of Eden is a wonderful game that delivers an experience like no other. The only real flaws are the short length and Kinect controls that only accept one arm at a time. This is a game that you should try at least once, even if your regular diet only consists of the Call of Duties and Mass Effects.

    Child of Eden is a stunning audio-visual experience. Mizuguchi is one more time the creator of an awesome journey into an explosion of sounds and colours. 5 levels, anyway, are not enough to grant a long experience to every kind of player.

    It feels so good to see that in between the all-narrative, all-simulation or all-blockbuster experiences, alternate paths like Mizuguchi's Child of Eden, supported by a big name like Ubisoft, still exist. It's something that, much like Rez before, we'd recommend playing with a controller for the vibrations that intensify the thrill of the music and images, even though it works well with Kinect. The only downside is that it really short, even though its intensity makes up for it.

    Child of Eden is probably what Rez was meant to be. Regardless of some minor issues, Mizuguchi's new musical shooter on rails is the best of what Kinect has accomplished so far.

    Close your eyes after playing, and a carnival of neon sea-creatures and fluorescent shapes will pulsate under your eye-lids. Child of Eden will linger in your conscious long after playing. While it's a fleeting and - on rare occasions - frustrating experience, it'll leave its mark on 2011 in just the same way.

    Overall, Child of Eden is a strong title for the Kinect. It features some unique gameplay, solid visuals, excellent sound and is a game that can be highly enjoyable in short bursts. That being said, the game is short and the absence of any multiplayer modes hurts this title somewhat. When you consider Child of Eden's price tag, it is a game that is not incredibly deep and perhaps should have been left as an Xbox Live Arcade title for the Kinect.

    It's very easy to admire Child of Eden. The artistry of its sound and visuals, the simplicity of the gameplay, and the Kinect integration all combine to make a game that should be experienced by anyone who spent their hard earned cash on the device. However, its short length and various control snafus make it difficult for me to recommend it as a purchase. In truth, this feels like a very sharp, very polished Xbox Live Arcade game.

    Child of Eden is proof that the phrase "better with Kinect sensor" isn't meaningless. The game is challenging and plays wonderfully. Even with the controller it remains to be a special experience that seamlessly blends sound, music and video. It's a given that you'll play this game a lot, but that doesn't take away from the fact that only five worlds and a short story mode make it feel very limited.

Child of Eden is the sequel to Rez, but with better sound, graphics, and quite possibly, more emotional impact. Before Rez came out on the Dreamcast, few knew what the word synesthesia was, much less how to describe it. Both CoE and Rez are shining examples. Both are short but brilliant, with a ton of replayability (thank you leaderboards). The on-rails shooter offers more surprises than many other more open-world games, and the graphic and audio design is beyond compare.

    If you are unsure about this game, get Rez in the Marketplace (or a demo of it if one is available). It's $10. If you like that, Child of Eden is the sequel, but on steroids. Graphically and aurally stunning in every way, but perhaps not for everyone, CoE is a rare videogame experience that will stick with you long after you've "beat" the game.

    Besides it is the first game after playing I felt happy for buying a kinect. Kinect is totally capable of serious games, what a relief.
    Yes it is short, but to me it is definitely a keeper which I can pick up again whenever I just want to watch and hear something that put a real smile on my face.
