It's a great call back to classic SEGA characters and franchises, and provides a heavy emphasis on fan service while maintaining a level of quality not often seen in kart racers outside of the Nintendo developed ones. It seriously feels like a love letter to long-time SEGA fans, and is certainly worth picking up.

I can look at it from any angle I want. I can detract that SEGA fan bonus, I can play this with people who have no idea what a Dreamcast is and this still is the pinnacle of what this sub-genre has to offer. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed reaches new heights, challengingly smiling down on Mario Kart.

It's a balanced and entertaining racer, then, but above all else, Transformed is incredible fan service.

Transformed is one of the best fun-racers in recent months and a classy alternative to Mario Kart, whose dominance is crumbling away. Without the frame-rate problems during split-screen races the speeding hedgehog might even have outpaced the racing plumber.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed respects and reproduces its source material with such precision that it'll leave Sega fans desperately clinging to the foolish belief that we'll get proper Nights or Burning Rangers sequels one day. On its own merits Transformed is a competent racer with a great drift mechanic, and the dynamically shifting carts and tracks are a solid contribution to an otherwise homogenous genre.

Sumo Digital has done a superb job creating a kart game that works. It may suffer from a lack of originality, but the game is definitely worth your attention. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed could have been another mediocre attempt at a kart racer, but its solid controls, plethora of modes and unlockables, and iconic characters allow it to shine on its own podium.

A superior Mario Kart clone and certainly the best Sega has ever produced, especially in terms of the teary-eyed nostalgia inspired by its endless retro cameos.

This game is by far one of, if not, THE most beautifully done game made by SEGA & is an amazing pickup no matter if you are a SEGA or Sonic fan or not. This game is a mix of the first Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing game, as well as Mario Kart 7 & Need For Speed. It features all the great fun of a kart racing game, but features beautiful graphics & a more realistic racing game engine that resembles Need For Speed or Forza Motorsport. The controls are very realistic to how how think each vehicle transformation should play. The car sections play just as anyone would expect, the boat sections are great with waves & currents to make the sections funner & more challenging, and the flight sections play like a flight simulator (inverted up & down, etc). For SEGA fans, this game is sure to please you with an incredible roster of beloved Sonic & SEGA characters, as well as tracks that are based off of great levels that they've made into fun tracks to race on. The soundtrack for the game is made of mainly of remixes, but is still perfectly fitting & very catchy. This game is also like how video games used to be, packed with a bunch of amazing unlockable content you don't have to pay for but you really have to work hard to get, it's a very lengthy, but nonetheless, amazing game. No matter if you've been a SEGA fan for ages, or if you just picked up the game to have some fun, you'll love this game for sure, it is for sure one of the best racing games out there. Expand

It has a really good character roster,. It's cool that we got wreck it Ralph and Danica Patrick (a literal real life racer). The graphics are great, it's better than Mario Kart 8 deluxe and that's saying something and the amount of content in this game is phenomenal, there's so much to do. The tracks in this game are amazing, although I feel like they could have given us better retro tracks like Ocean ruin, Sandy drifts and Highway Zero from Sonic and Sega all stars racing, but the retro tracks we got aren't bad. Egg hanger is great though. Some of the tracks literally change as you progress through the laps and are so diverse and creative, and the music is fire as always in sonic games. This puts Mario Kart 7's water and gliding gimmick to shame. (Though MK7 is still a really good game that revolutionised the MK series at the time.) I mean, you can literally transform into a boat and a freaking plane, that's just mind-blowingly awesome! They should definitely use this gimmick again if we ever get a 4th kart racer in the series, and even better, it doesn't cost much and it was a bargain at launch. Well done Sega and sumo Digital for bringing us this masterpiece of a game. Expand

The sequel to 2010's Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, the game's new feature is transforming vehicles, hence the game's title, with character's regular vehicles being able to transform into both aerial and aquatic ones. This can be done with transform ramps, and the player can activate transform boosts upon driving through these. This makes the game hectic, and with the wide range of items available, havok can erupt on the course in a matter of seconds - weapons include fireworks, ice blasts and an item called the hot rod which is very risky but is capable of giving you a massive boost of speed. Players can also go All-Star during races, which will give you a special animation, a tremendous speed boost, and the ability to decimate anyone in your path for a limited amount of time, but understandably the item that triggers this is quite rare. The courses are incredibly detailed and full of alternate routes which you can take, giving you a massive amount of exploration and choice. You can do this freely with your favourite characters, of which there is a wide variety, from Sonic the Hedgehog, to Dr. Eggman, to AiAi, to Vyse to Joe Musashi. You can level up any character, eventually being able to install mods on your vehicle, such as Speed and Acceleration, and your reward for doing this is maxing out your character's level and making them All-Star. There is also a very interesting and immersive Campaign mode in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, called World Tour, where you participate in events, collecting stars along the way. By doing this, you'll unlock new characters and medals/stickers to put on your driver's card, which can be viewed by other players online.
Overall, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed is a sequel even better than the original, and a worthy competitor to Mario Kart 7 that often goes unnoticed. Available for pretty much every system out there, the fun blend of great courses, interesting characters and fun yet frustrating items make Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed a game you should definitely give a try, especially since it's not too pricey either.

It is a game with good speed, it has enough characters of sega, enough scenarios, bastentes items.
There are not many factors that differentiate it from other similar games, only that it is really fun and has improved a lot compared to previous deliveries.
One aspect that I liked was the system of acrobatics or turns that helps us get more turbo. and maybe it's still the best in this series of games.

I remember two years earlier (Grade 6) I wore a Sonic hat shaped like his quills to school and pretended me and my friends were Sonic characters, and eagerly awaited Sonic Generations, the one game I was looking forward to the most that year. But I've since changed. Only recently have I decided to stop playing Sonic. Now let's get into reviewing the actual game. It's a TRAINWRECK of a kart racer, a homage to retro Sega, a Sonic game and as a material object. I thought the worst was behind Sonic, and that the future for him looked brighter. Far from it. This is THE worst Sonic game ever made, and one of the worst games in history.
Let's start off small. The game is a sad and blatant cash grab. It's clearly ripping off Mario Kart 7 with its 'land, air and water' gimmick. Sadly there's no avoiding a comparison between the two games, and it won't be pretty. On one hand, MK7 was a polished and well-made kart racer (possibly the best in the series, even), wheras ASRT is broken, ugly and disgraceful. Oh yeah, you thought Sonic 06 was broken? This one has millions more glitches. MILLIONS. I couldn't play a single race without at least ten glitches. The collision detection dissapears for both objects and item boxes, the vehicle wouldn't transform at the right time (when I come to a body of water, it would stay in car mode, and my character drowned) and sometimes the position ranking doesn't even go up, meaning that you can stay in lead all throughout a race and come in last, all because the position ranking wouldn't move. The all-star moves are a joke. They are seriously downgraded from the first game, because now THEY DO NOTHING. I'm not even joking, they're just eye candy! As far as I'm concerned it's another glitch. I wouldn't be suprised at all. Split-screen multiplayer lags everywhere, making one short race take up to an hour! Online multiplaer is arguably even WORSE. The game was supposed to pay homage to Sega's glory days, back when they didn't suck, but they just ended up ruining all their franchises. I'd give this game a 1 out of 10 if the music was any decent, but it's godawful (enough to make Ke$ha's music seem like a masterpiece), so a 0 it is. One of the worst things ever created.
