AO Tennis 2 is a bright, likeable tennis sim with bags of room to grow, and as it stands is easily the best tennis game of this generation.

AO Tennis 2 isn't perfect but it manages to entertain and surprise thanks to a brilliant Career mode, a good gameplay depth and great customizability.

A solid, but still returnable, second serve that could use a little more mechanical tinkering.

With some post-launch love to improve some of the more lacking areas, AO Tennis 2 could be a real winner. For now, though, it is likely a game that only dedicated tennis fans will truly enjoy.

Despite the good intentions, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the title.

AO Tennis 2 takes a step in the right direction, but it still lacks depth in some of the core foundations of a tennis game. It improves and expands pretty much everything from its predecessor, so we’re looking forward to see where the next title takes it.

Create a new Professional Tennis player, and take them to the courts. Building off of the first installations strengths and weaknesses, AO Tennis 2 provides an incredibly accurate game experience. Advancing in the game is a looping stride of training exercises and entering tournaments. The intermissions between matches are done as press conferences, where your character is assailed with questions about the future of their career, win or lose. The ball physics are amazing, and you can feel the difference on the different courts, as they are made with different materials. There is an insane amount of user-created content from the first game that you can import into your career mode if you so chose, these include players and courts. The action the players provide and the array of animations is fantastic, and the game feels genuine and smooth. With one exception. The assisted movement would sometimes leave me motionless or jogging the wrong way to chase after the ball, generating the only real frustration if felt with the game. That one issue cost me several matches and caused under aggravation at an otherwise fun and entertaining Sports Sim. Tennis fans Rejoice as this is likely going to take a while to top. Expand
