When all is said and done, Iris.Fall on Xbox is over in a flash and doesn’t linger in the memory despite some strong ideas. The monochrome graphical presentation alone will turn some heads, and some of the puzzles can be quite interesting. But once you make your way through the adventure and piece together the mystery, then there really isn’t much to come back for.

Iris.Fall is a puzzle based adventure game featuring artsy visuals and a spell binding theme of lights and shadows. The entirety of the storyIris.Fall is a puzzle based adventure game featuring artsy visuals and a spell binding theme of lights and shadows. The entirety of the story in Iris.Fall is told without a single word. It all takes place in a black and white world, where the art manages to be vibrant with a sparse splash of color. You take on the role of Iris who is awakened in the middle of the night by a mysterious black cat, Iris follows the cat much like Alice following the White Rabbit. Following the cat leads Iris on an adventure into a dark, dilapidated and strange paper-craft theatre. The puzzles are presented in scenes which are large rooms with an exit blocked off in various ways. You control the young girl as she investigates these rooms, searching for items she’ll need to activate various steampunk styled contraptions. More often than not, these devices will manipulate light in the room with casting shadows that can then be used to reach otherwise un-reachable areas. Iris.Fall delivers an enchanting and mysterious dream style world for you to explore. The variety of puzzles keep the game interesting, however the lack of any explanation can make some of them confusing. The shadow mechanic the game employs isn’t new but it gives the puzzles more variety. The puzzles never get too difficult and the overall experience is a mote on the short end time-wise. Iris.Fall could be just the game for you since the price of admission is easy on the wallet so be sure to check it out on your Xbox One digital games store. Full Review »
