The camera problems do threaten to take this off-road game into a ditch, but you’ll likely come back and persevere with MudRunner far more generously and readily than you would expect.
It is obvious that Spintires is aimed at a certain audience, but if you fit in that group of players who would enjoy truck racing, you'll be quite happy with this title, making the most of its virtues and forgiving its shortcomings.
New players might feel a bit intimidated and frustrated at times by the many unexplained mechanics, but if the time and dedication is put into it, Spintires: Mudrunner can become a dirty but somewhat fulfilling experience you can return to again and again.
Part driving game, part menial labour simulator, Mudrunners may well be the least fun we've had on our PS4. This isn't a game that sends the mud flying everywhere, it's one where the mud bogs you down until you feel like you are drowning in it. However, if you're looking for a challenging trucking simulator that is genuinely different, this may be well up your street. Do your research before you buy though.
Love this game , most people don't because they think it's about 4x4 racing or rock climbing IT'S NOT . It's a GREAT Logging Simulator ! Plus 3 of it's 4 DLC's are FREE !
If you like Farming Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator, then you will have fun here. Offroad lovers also. To the full happiness of the lovers will probably run out of tire pressure control. The game offers a lot of gameplay, but it's repetitive. Mainly transport of trees. The area is not very varied. Of course you can pour mission objectives and take to Gaz and try to get the top of the map, but this is not the type of game for everyone. Surely it will gain in multiplayer mode when we do not do everything ourselves. It is slow, it does not stress, it can be climatic. The physics of the game is very refined. The price for the premiere is not too high. Platinum is roughly 50h of games. Not very exciting, but definitely relaxing.
I DO like offroading, did in real life and i find the lack of good offroading in games nearly offensive, i have Beamng on Steam and i really like it, although it's more of a sandbox with a couple of missions than it is a game and offroading is better than in most games but could be better, and i thought...well mudrunner is now 4e on Steam with a couple expansions so i dont lose anything if its bad...well i bought it and these are my impressions:
The game starts well, you play the tutorial and later the 9 challenges or so and you really have variation and are not decieved at all, you learn interesting game mechanics and mud physics and your brain enjoys all of it because the game has variety. i whould say nearly any kind of public whould enjoy the game if the rest of it were like the challenges.
But the problem is that it is sadly not, together with poor engine and gearing mechanics, once tutorial and challenges are done you start your first map as normal, and...
1-you have very few information on everything, and what thing does what , not a big deal anyway.
2-you find that the game basically constists on the same actions eeeevery time, driving from wherever your truck ist and driving a lot finding trucks, logs and other things, whould be not so bad if it were not always through lots of mud most of the time, even in places where mud makes no sense and traction loss is absurd (like places with vegetation and visibly dry zones), also sadly the driving physics are clumsy too.
3- you end up using the winch every 5 meters, it's so easy and quick you end up abusing it
4-it's not worth to use a wheel on this game, gears are a joke, what does a driving game with bad driving feeling and ridiculous gears do? be boring, if you expect it to be realistic
5-it takes soo many time from your life by doing things that are not rewarding at all like moving 5m with a tractor or truck, connecting the winch 10 times in a row.
6- it's not really a complete **** experience, i found very few rocks all maps look quite alike and it makes no sense in climbing them, it's only offroad because of the mud and loose terrain, but not a real offroad game in my opinion.
7-Why only collect logs? the game has so much potential and the game makes you collect logs through a map every single time¡¡¡ why the challenges are better than the game itself? no idea, perhaps is like this so you can not get a refund because you aready have 12h played like it happened to me. You could deliver a shipping container from city A to B, you could do rescue missions, etc etc, but no it is always the same logs.
I know the game is old and is very cheap now (sorry for the ones who payed 40e or more and didnt like it) and my opinion probably at this time won't change anyone's **** writing this took me the same time as moving through mud for 10 meters anyway.
There are people who like the game so it is very dependant of the person, it's hard to know if you will like it or not.
This game is terrible. User interface is non existent. There is absolutely no explanation how to use anything. I have no idea how to load logs etc. or which trailer to use. It's free on psnow and even when it's free it's not worth it. Play something else
SummarySpintires: MudRunner is the ultimate version of the million-seller indie hit Spintires. Like Spintires before it, Spintires: MudRunner puts players in the driver seat and dares them to take charge of incredible all-terrain vehicles, venturing across extreme Siberian landscapes with only a map and compass as guides!
A huge upgrade over...
