The stunning set pieces take full advantage of animation’s unique mastery over time and space, so that we don’t just watch the characters’ daredevil exploits – we’re spinning and whirling right along with them. It’s as if we’ve mastered space and time ourselves.
The Start of this great franchise, I remember i saw this trailer for it in the cinema when it was first shown, and watching it was even better just amazing, Tai Lung is such a amazing Villain and the whole cast really delivers
The animation is first-rate, and the settings and background are appropriately exotic. The fights are a lot more exciting than you would think. And if the story is somewhat predictable (and the final blow somewhat difficult to fathom), one could find lesser heroes to root for than Po, although none more unlikely.
Kung Fu Panda goes nowhere surprising even as its images unscroll handsomely before our eyes. The sound could go out in the theater, and you wouldn't ask for your money back.
Don't kid yourself, this is a 10/10 from the characters, soundtrack, simplicity in plot, and complexity. This includes by the end of the movie knowing why they made the father a bird and Po a panda and how that leads up to the red herring at the end. Don't kid yourself, you watch this ground breaking movie in 2008 and youre a kid this is easily top 3 movies of all time. Any rating below a 8 is simply not the audience or have some kind of suspended disbelief of what ought to be for a movie. This film is a masterclass.
It's just a very fun movie, and Po is a very unique character. Making a random character become a kung fu master shouldn't work, but it did. And Po learns his own way in his journey. The movie's story is a bit "loose", but every character is good and plays its part on the movie.
This is my own way of reviewing movies, it is neither right nor wrong or in the correct order. I personally try to stay objective but some grading may come from a subjective viewpoint.
Was the purpose/plot of the movie creative and worthwhile? 10
Absolutely. The idea of a panda not viewed as compatible to something like kung fu but still finding his own way is very fun.
Did the movie build the important characters? 2
The movie certainly gave enough screen time for the protagonist Po, but in no way gave any time for the others. The furious five had very little input all together in the film. Neither did the citizens. And most disappointedly master Oogway delivered nothing but riddles. This hurts me the most because Oogway is by far the most interesting character of them all and deserved to be more than just a miner guidance in the movie.
Did the movie build the important parts of the world? 0
This creative, old Kung fu China styled world, was massive. It had so much to explore but nothing was ever talked about. The one place I can recall in the movie that was of note was only part of a montage.
Was the climax of the movie resolved to make the viewer content? 6
The climax had an interesting twist but ultimately gave no value to the movie. The idea certainly pandered to kids but nevertheless if it didn't happen not much would have changed.
Were there enough plot holes or disconnected scenes that made the movie confusing or boring? 9
I ran into no MAJOR plot holes and no scenes that felt out of place.
Did the actors/animations make a convincing story? 9
All voice acting present in the film really reeled me into their individual characters. Even the main villain felt like he lived through his suffering.
Was the dialogue impactful to the movie? 8
There was definitely some weird lines every now and again. some funny and some dumb. There was only one line that took me a little out of the film but the overall dialogue of the film was well constructed for the conveying story.
Was the pace of the movie enough to let the viewers enjoy? 4
NO. This is sort **** thing because the movie was so fun to watch I didn't want it to stop. Unfortunately based on the lack of character and world development they should have made the movie longer to supply it.
Did the movie do what it was supposed to do? i.e - Did the horror movie scare me? Did the comedy movie make me laugh? 5
This movie is supposed to be a comedic action adventure movie. It had average comedy, average action, and no adventure. The jokes mainly pertained to kids. The action was cool but some was up for interpretation which is weird. And the movie doesn't really go to many physical places.
Does the movie provide enough interesting and fun ideas that a viewer may want to rewatch in the future? 8
Definitely. I love this movie and always will. An instant classic with an amazing idea. I just wish they would have gave it more time to let the world really come to life. I do not think that movies that pander to kids have to abide by a short story. Lots of people enjoy this movie, so do I, but more could have been done.
Total = 61
I miss the animation movies from my time. This is not fun, this is something that I would like to do when I can't sleep. A Kung Fu Panda, not my cup of tea
I really had high hopes for this movie, especially when I heard Jack Black and Jackie Chan were in it. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the movie. With the exception of Po and Shifu, all the characters, especially the furious five, were one-dimensional. Lame plot, and I barely got to hear Jackie Chan! And now they're making a sequel? DreamWorks, unless you make this sequel your "Dark Knight", you won't be seeing me watching Kung Fu Panda 2.
