The cluttered parallel story structure – the fates of several different individuals over a period of two years are woven together – results in a series of mini-scares rather than a gradual build to a big one. And since we already know the fate of most of them, all the diseased yellow lighting and oppressive sound design in the world can’t engineer much tension. Read full review

There’s plenty of grisly stuff here, and a lot of it is done practically, which might entice some gorehounds. But that can only go so far. Pesce’s The Eyes of My Mother has ten times less gore than this and still managed to be ten times as scary. Here’s hoping he gets back to making something like that, and soon. Read full review

Ignore what other people say this film is absolutely terrifying and I don’t find any film scary the first half of the film wasn’t that bad but on the second half they crammed so many jump scares in it we was nearly in tears it is a mixture between a extremely jumpy film and a mental ****Ignore what other people say this film is absolutely terrifying and I don’t find any film scary the first half of the film wasn’t that bad but on the second half they crammed so many jump scares in it we was nearly in tears it is a mixture between a extremely jumpy film and a mental **** film never again do I ever want to be in a house alone this film mentally terrorises you while also making you jump out your skin I would defined recommend if you want a film that will generally make you jump and get you scared So watch it but don’t say I didn’t warn you it is **** terrifying… Expand

This is not a bad movie! I expected far worse from the scores it was being given. The story itself was very engrossing, if a bit confusing at times due to the shifting timeframes. But, My friend and I enjoyed the characters and the actors who played them. Even an Oscar nominee shows up!This is not a bad movie! I expected far worse from the scores it was being given. Even an Oscar nominee shows up! Jackie Weaver. The story picks up from 2004 with a woman who stayed in what I guess was the original house where The Grudge got started. I don’t remember much about the first one, so I can’t verify the accuracy of the backstory that propels the movie forward. But, it is certainly very creepy in places and we really enjoyed it.… Expand

An exciting film with the well-known scary moments. The story unfortunately has no depth at all. Nice to stream or to watch TV later on.

It's not great and it rains a lot. Sometimes it looks real, sometimes it looks like a massive sprinkler. Certainly not as good as the first two American versions. Arguably better than the third American film. The Japanese series has so many I not even going to draw any comparisons there. TheIt's not great and it rains a lot. The use of negative space, the sound design and the cinematography overall are excellent. The final 20 minutes are thrilling. I did prefer it when it was creepy Japanese children rather than Jason Vorhees looking guys. This is very disappointing. The original films were entertaining but not the best, this is just uneven, I don't think it'll appeal to new buyers and it certainly won't reinvigorate the series. Bring on the inevitable next reboot.… Expand

The Grudge isn't anything special it just is another remake no one asked for nor did anyone truly care to even see. This movie tries to be different with multiple time lines happening, but with that you never end up caring about any one character it is just a way to show different kinds ofThe Grudge isn't anything special it just is another remake no one asked for nor did anyone truly care to even see. This movie tries to be different with multiple time lines happening, but with that you never end up caring about any one character it is just a way to show different kinds of jump scares. The scares are fairly vanilla and what you come to expect with only a couple that had me personally surprised. The only thing I could say I enjoyed about this remake is the ending. The ending is something that had me reeling for more. I makes me wonder if they based the rest of the movie off of the idea of the ending. This is a hard pass for me there are so many horror movies to watch why waste your time with this one.… Expand

0/10 * Leider sehr schlechter Film....die älteren The Grudge Teile waren sehr gut. Hier in diesem Remake gibt es nur 100 % Gelabber. Keine Schreckensmomente, langweilige Personen, keine Spannung. Film sehr schlecht umgesetzt. Hätte so ein guter Film werden können. Der Versuch ein guten Film0/10 * Leider sehr schlechter Film....die älteren The Grudge Teile waren sehr gut.
