Not without charm, Unfinished Business mixes the cute with the raunchy. Penises adorably happen. But besides the schlongenfreude, there’s a subtext about how-did-I-get-here lives, and righting oneself before it’s too late. Is the star himself listening?
Great premise that could have worked. I was more looking at the plot as to what it takes to succeed when working with people who take advantage of their upper hand. So the laughs were a welcome relief to what goes on in the business world.
It's got issues that keep it from being one of the best comedies out there. Yet there are enough belly laughs to make it a pretty entertaining movie. Some crazy scenarios along with some very funny one liners help keep things mostly enjoyable. Especially with the goofy Dave Franco. His character might be a little too stupid at times, but he still manages to bring some laughs with his cluelessness.
The plot issues are still noticeable though. There's no big payoff in the end and there are moments where we are left wading through too much of it's progression while we wait for the next batch of laughs. This would not as big of an issue if we were given more reason to care about the characters. You do kind of feel sorry for them, but not enough to really invest in their plight. Still, it does achieve some success when it touches on what it feels like to be the odd man out. These moments are sure to click with certain people.
"Unfinished Business" might not be a great movie, but some good laughs make it worth a watch. It will make for a good rental if you are in the mood for some occasionally raunchy R-rated comedy. It's not the biggest winner out there, but much like it's characters there are still reasons to root for it.
The whole point of Vince Vaughn's cinematic existence is that he's a paragon for reformed chauvinism. He's an irrepressible but highly tamable id. Not so here.
A sluggishly paced collection of go-nowhere sight gags, flat-footed set pieces and incoherent business chatter that offers few laughs and little real payoff.
Unfinished Business is the type of movie that is so awful that as it rolls along (its 91-minute runtime feels agonizing) you get more and more restless.
I think this movie has got a lot of unnecessary hate. I know that business movies aren't always the most entertaining in the world. There are points were the movie is a little boring but for the most part I found the characters pretty funny. A lot of people have been ripping on Dave Franco's performance in this movie but really I thought it was different. Tom Wilkinson was fairly funny as well and really I'd say that both of these guys are funnier than Vince Vaughn who is one of my favorites but I wasn't really happy with him comedy wise in the movie. I'm a little bit worried about True Detective season 2 after watching this movie hopefully he'll be able to pull **** performance in that.
It's an amusing movie, and Vince Vaughn really makes it funny. As does Bro Franco. Lot more **** and breasts than I expected, but also a lot more belly laughs. if you go in with modest expectations, you'll have a great time. Tom Wilkinson brings a dash of credibility to the proceedings. And Sienna Miller is also terrific in a small role. It's just not all that ambitious of a movie. But a good time.
Gratuitous and unfunny. Unfinished Business is intermittently amusing out of sheer ludicrousness, but it never becomes laugh-out-loud funny due to its horrifically uneven script. Waste **** cast.
Dave Franco is a terrible in this movie he is annoying and dumb, Tom Wilkinson tries and Vince Vaughn is just "Vince Vaughn," how could a comedy be this boring? It has a few laughs time to time but that's all it's gonna get. It has lazy party scenes and it's not fun, we can't root for the characters (cause we don't care). Vaughn's one liner's are cheap and unfunny. Grade D+
The reason why this review is late because at the first I had zone interest in this movie and what change my mind at the end is the people telling me to watch.
The story is about a business owner and his only two employees set off on an international business trip that will culminate in the most important deal of their lives. But when his former boss shows up to steal the show, the trio will go on a cross-country European romp to try to woo their clients back, no matter how far it takes them.
As a reviewer myself I normally avoid movies like this for many good reason and one of them is the lack of effort or brains put into them, and the fact that great names actors that pulled off pretty performance in the past have to sell their soul to devil and by in a bad movie like this. Unfinished Business is the worst.
I didn't laugh once during this movie and I think it's due to the bad writing and the slap together script that probably got shout straight out of the toilet and some how made it to the big screen.
Basically my job is to tell people what to see and what to avoid like a disease. Normally I like to recommend movies that are great and people haven't heard of before, but Unfinished Business isn't one of them.
Thank god Vince Vaughn is in the next season of True Detective maybe he might pull **** performance in that TV show, but in ****. He played the basic Vince Vaughn in this movie. Maybe he didn't want to be there, maybe he wanted to go home or get a pay check.
Tom Wilkinson is Oscar nominated actor that clearly knows how to act, so what happened here? did somebody put a gun to his head and made him do it because when you're such beloved actor would you want to waste it by being in movies like this...I don't think so. He was wasted in this movie and I don't mean he was high or something, I mean his talent was put to waste and who knows maybe he wanted to go home or get his pay check.
Dave **** be honest I don't really care about him, so...stuff him.
The only thing in this movie that I can look at and say something positive about is the fact that these many bad comedy's out there that are more horrible and more worst than this, don't get me wrong this isn't a good movie at all but comparing this to other bad comedies out there this is almost there.
Overall Unfinished Business is the perfect movie to skip this year as I bet nobody isn't going to talk about this in a couple of months time, until I get to my worst movies of the year list and yeah your going to see it again.
