'Elemental' Teaser Shows How Ember and Wade First Meet

Get your first look at Pixar Animation Studios' next feature film: Elemental, which is coming in June 2023, has its first teaser trailer. Watch it below.

Directed by Peter Sohn, the film is set in a city where residents of the four major elements all live together, but as you may remember from science class, not all elements mix well together. The four major elements are fire, water, air, and land. You can see some of the (usually unintentional) disharmony caused by different elements sharing a small space (a city bus) in the teaser.

The film follows two central characters: Ember (perhaps obviously a fire resident, voiced by Leah Lewis) and Wade (a less-obvious water resident, voiced by Mamoudou Athie) who are anthropomorphic elements that learn how much they have in common, despite coming from different worlds, so to speak. The teaser mostly follows Ember as she walks through the bus, affecting all of the other riders, but by the end of the minute-and-a-half clip, she does finally meet Wade.

That meeting isn't so smooth, as he drips on her when they both reach to pick up the headphones she dropped. But if you know anything about Pixar, you know their relationship will be a beautiful and emotional one.

Elemental will be released on June 16, 2023.
