Grant began driving cars at the tender age of seven on the family farm in the Riverina area in NSW. He desperately wanted to be a race car driver, but settled for go-karts and qualified in the top ten for the Australian National Class Go-kart titles at Geelong, qualified on pole for the NSW State titles at Grenfell and won the NSW Go-kart Country Classic Championship in 1997. This passion lead him to his dream, driving in the V8 Supercar development series team. He fast became one of the country’s hottest up coming talents wining ‘Rookie Of The Year’ and ‘Motorsport Personality Of The Year’ in his first season. Not just content with life in the pit lane, Grant juggled a career in the media and his passion for motor sports. At the end of his contract with channel 7’s Sunrise’s weatherman, he is back in pursuit his life long dream of
