Ivan Dixon
Biography: Black supporting actor and occasional lead, with a sensitive, solid, no-frills, "everyman" approach to his roles. Debuted on Broadway in William Saroyan's The Cave Dwellers (1957). Dixon first worked in films as a stunt double for Sidney Poitier in The Defiant Ones (1958), soon appearing onscreen as an actor. He has also done much work in TV, and is perhaps best-known for his work on the '60s TV sitcom Hogan's Heroes. He directed the films Trouble Man (1972) and The Spook Who Sat by the Door (1973), as well as episodes of many TV shows.
