In 1977 he released his self-titled Leif Garrett, that
contained such Rock 'n' Roll staples as Surfin' USA, Put

1978's Skateboard, a movie about the sport, Leif was
responsible for starting the craze. The following year he starred in
a made for TV movie called Peter Lundy & the Medicine Hat
Stallion.

In 1979 saw Leif with a number one song on the pop charts, the
Disco hit, I Was Made For Dancin.'

Tragedy would suddenly strike that same year for Leif. Just shy of
his 18th birthday, he was in a serious car accident that would leave
his, then, best friend in a wheel-chair for life. Twenty years later
they were at last reunited in a tearful reunion on the VH1 series,
Behind the Music.

Leif's last album My Movie Of You in 1981 fulfilled his
contract with Scotti Brothers Records and saw the end of his music
career as a teen idol.

Leif's long battle with drug addiction carried him through the
1980s and 1990s, ending with the intervention of family and friends.
Miraculously, Leif has been clean from heroin use since 1999.

Leif continued acting making several B movies throughout the 1980s
and 1990s. An accomplished musician, Leif would go on to write
several movie scores but took little credit for them. He has
continued to sing and write music which lead him to form a band
called Godspeed, that lasted from 1999 to 2001. In 1999 VH1
featured Leif as a host on Behind the Music which was
instrumental in a comeback he had not enjoyed since his days as a
teen idol in the late 1970s.

Leif's tried and true fans can still hear him sing, but its not
the music that made him a household name. By 2002, Leif Garrett had
his own style of hard rock, this time as lead vocalist for the up and
coming band called F8 and they have 2 five-song CDs under
their belt.

A year later, Leif starred in the movie Dickie Roberts: Former
Child Star as best friend to David Spade's (the former child
actor) character. The movie was produced by Adam Sandler.
