DuVernay and Kaepernick have crafted a hybrid docudrama limited series that is both personal and universal, educational and raw. It gets at the heart of how the general and the specific, family and country, obstacles and accomplishments all work together as the soil in which a person grows into themselves.

Six half-hour episodes that swing between wildly perceptive and entirely self-obsessed, between artistic innovation and bland formula, between being a show that I thought could and should be watched by everybody and being a show whose target audience may only be Kaepernick himself.

Colin Kaepernick possesses greater gifts as an athlete and activist than as a TV personality, which becomes apparent watching "Colin in Black & White," a series that -- much like NBC's "Young Rock" -- revisits a famous person's early life, here by awkwardly mixing documentary and dramatic elements.

This story NEEDED TO BE SAID! Bravo! Educate these folks. I’m a black woman and I identified with the series soooo much. It evokes so much emotion and I would love to see more from other Black Make/female athletes telling their stories of adversity.

This series had excellent narration and a very strong cast of actors. I enjoyed knowing about the life of young Colin. I do wish they would continue this series to cover his college and professional career. Bravo!

He was 28-30 as a starter with a qb rating of 88.9. Average at best. Combined with the fact that he was injury prone and angered fans who bought tickets and paid their salary by kneeling during the anthem. All of those things are why ck didn't have a job. NOT because he's black. Give me a break.
