What's here that we haven't seen before? The first episode was laughably bad. I'll give it a chance for Luke but it all seems unnecessary. Sadly.

A great cast with an interesting screenplay made this 'coming of age superhero' action-dramedy fun to watch (only pilot so far). Gotta say though, the action/fight scenes looked low tier for a 2020 showing. This was saved by the enjoyable and often humorous chemistry with the main family cast and it was this that had me hooked. Stargirl fits right between CW and DCU crop of shows. Taking production value and name recognition of DCU with the more juvenile themes of CW DC shows.

They have already elevated the series well above that of the source material and it might evolve into something with a decent following. Definitely worth watching a second episode.

Among the most magical, awe-inspiring, gripping and smile-inducing first two episodes (or two halves of one big episode) I've ever seen, for any tv series! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Early episodes of Stargirl are an oddly jittery thing. ... The series starts picking up in those fourth and fifth episodes, in which Courtney begins to make friends. ... Bassinger is amiable and chipper. It's hard to say much more about her given that the role is so underwritten that she blends in with other recent blonde-teen-learning-superpowers performances.

DC's Stargirl emulates DC Universe's live-action series "Titans" and "Doom Patrol" by taking a way-deep dive into comic-book mythology, proceeding with a serialized story at a glacial pace...What sets it apart from those gritty efforts is a lighter tone, deriving a sense of fun from coming-of-age teen heroes mastering new powers, making the series a good fit to share with the CW.

The relationship between Courtney and Pat forms the spine of the series and it’s a welcome change of pace from the network’s twentysomething heroes. Whether that's enough to justify yet another superhero show remains to be seen.
