Something about this show just works from the crisply polished start, using a premise that is squarely within one of CBS’s favorite wheelhouses--the edgy hero who is gifted with extraordinary mental powers that he or she directs to the purpose of solving crime.
The plotting is pretty perfunctory, but McDorman wears the show’s hyperbolic intensity lightly, as if playfully mocking the hard-boiled self-seriousness around him. But he also brings pathos to Brian’s gnawing sense of failure.
I don't understand why the reviews are so low. I love this tv show, it is one of my favorite. I like the style, more light and original. I hope the tv show will be reconduct.
So, basically, this is a drug-fueled Sherlock Holmes situation, although Brian does something so monumentally stupid while supposedly in his smart state at the show’s beginning that it comes close to undermining the show’s premise. Luckily McDorman, who appeared in “American Sniper” with Cooper, has an easygoing charm that helps right the boat.
Limitless may give you an immediate high, but side effects may include listlessness, dangerous plot holes and a sinking feeling you’ve wasted an hour of your life.
What a great show. Loved the main character. The humor and the unexpected fantasy scenes were so entertaining. Looked forward to every episode. The show was very clever with colourful characters and lots of fun. What a shame it ended too early.
Adaptations of movies are tricky, and in some ways "Limitless" falls into that trap. It has to do a lot to build the concept and world, then makes a hard pivot and introduces Bradley Cooper reprising his role from the film. I wasn't wild about the original film, but I think this series could be more interesting. That being said, it will certainly fall into the familiar trap of case of the week action. That's not a bad thing, but it's not the most original concept. That said, I liked the cast and was pleasantly surprised with the pilot.
Bland obvious writing, stuff where the story line is obvious, no surprises or need to think or listen, just **** eye candy, and weak attempts at humor. Its a 3 because Limitless does not seem offensive or shocking or bad kids to watch, which plays along well with it just being plain ole boring and easy to ignore.
The movie was very good. Not surprised that a series followed. But for a show about Limitless mind. The extremely limited quality on the writing by the what seems to be not too bright people makes the show a big turn off. It started alright , but the typical, lets make the good guys as smart as rocks could prevailed. The main character is suppose to be infinitely smart but turns out that he does something bummer than a 4 year old. It is obvious as the writers (which are huge in supporting all types of drug use) are not bright enough to come up with anything clever. Too many times the "problems" have easy enough solutions that 99% of the viewers (even when they are stoned). Example, when the protagonist decides to hide extra pills he hides it in one of the dumbest places. Wow, even people in a coma would thought of some place better. Except putting them in a bottle labeled PILLS, It was one of the dumbest places to hide anything. Does the pills average out the IQ when you are not in it?
I tried watching this show but I can not temporarily kill or disable enough brain cells with alcohol to make this show watchable. Great premise, very good twist making him an FBI agent but unfortunately they will need to add actual smart people to the writing staff (or at least someone that is not extremely dumb).
This show has one good thing. Know how to accurately rate my friends, family and other acquaintances smarts. The more they like the show the dumber they are. I give it a 2 which means I am a little dumb also. have I gave it a 0 then I would likely be a genius.
