tbh i love this show. it has done what most of the other marvel shows fail to do. Which is, engage the audience on a deeper level. Hats off to the director, studio, cast, and crew.
Secret Invasion is definitely ranked among the top tier of Marvel tv series, with Marvel taking a darker and more mature direction is one of the highlights of the show. Really looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
Marvel buffs will be able to collect their fair share of Easter eggs, but this one can be enjoyed by a PG-13-suitable crowd that prefers action (this one is pretty violent, though) with a relatable plot that doesn’t require you to watch all in the MCU canon to understand what is going on. In supporting roles, Kingsley Ben-Adir stands out in this promising leap forward for Phase 5 of the MCU.
Marked by lethargic performances, flat combat and great gobs of exposition, it comes across as an exercise in genre regurgitation—and far from the spark that will recharge Marvel’s battery.
There’s still time and episodes left to salvage the series, but for those who were excited for the MCU return to a shadowy and clandestine milieu, “Secret Invasion” disappoints with familiar, rote, and enervating tenor nowhere near as involving as its collusions would suggest.
To say the first two episodes are suspense-free wouldn’t be entirely fair. The premiere’s climax works well enough, and the hourlong entries move along without the obvious bloat of past MCU TV shows. Still, “Secret Invasion” proves as tepid as it is inert.
The comics storyline on which the series is based is a beloved and acclaimed thriller, but its adaptation has been squeezed of all intrigue and nuance. And more than anything, “Invasion” is a waste of the time for the viewer.
So glad marvel took this show in a darker direction. They are finally realize ing that we aren’t kids anymore. The suspense of this show is great and it’s awesome to see Nick fury back in action.
Unimpressed. This is the first MCU show that I would not leave a green score for (yes, you read that right). While I didn’t hate the whole thing, the series was overall a massive letdown.
Marvel has really been testing my faith these past few years. Even shows like Moon knight, have me always trying to convince myself these shows are high standard. But I believe this show has finally broke the camels back. She-hulk, ms. Marvel, and now secret invasion reek of watered down abc mediocrity, much like shows in the networks primteime, the rookie and greys anatomy. For the love of god, marvel please just slow down and make something quality and somewhat boundary pushing. Rant over…
High quality production values and excellent cast wasted with a terrible screenplay and uninspired direction and editing. Apparently somebody thought changing the nature of nick fury's character after 10+ movies was a smart choice. I felt sleepy watching this dull trash. Avoid!
